We have stayed as a group of up to four people for two weeks - there is a smaller bedroom with two beds, a larger one with a large twin bed and a sofa bed in the large living room.
As the property is on a private road 500 m off Road 150 in Upper Ojai, you'll enjoy a quiet stay with all the comfort of well kept owners home, fully equipped with washing machine, dryer, linen and towels, full kitchen with everything you'd need, tv and stereo equiment for music, outside sitting place. Marvelous view of the mountains, large well kept garden. About the only thing we had missed was internet, but we had known about that. Nearest general store in 500 m on road 150.
I'd come back to this place any time I wanted to stay in this area. -

Over several years I have stayed in a few of Ojai's charming B & B's and the elegant Ojai Valley Inn, but Big Rock Retreat is my favorite. It's an immaculately maintained 2-bedroom, 1-bath, with a perfect mix of amenities and efficiencies, such as: lovely soft beds, an inviting dining/living room, complete kitchen, wonderful patios, easy parking, and garden views of the Topa Topa Mountains. It is a perfect getaway. Everything has been thought through, to include timed interior lighting, so that when I arrived 10 PM, I felt welcomed. With the exception of WiFi [which I did not miss], all was perfect.
The morning I left a rain storm had just cleared and the air was pristine - as it often is in Ojai. I enjoyed yoga streches on the master bedroom's patio and soaked in as much of this lovely retreat before I returned home. -

Big Rock Retreat in Ojai, Ca is just a wonderful place for a getaway. It's located on almost 2 acres of land with lawn and drought tolerant plantings. It's so lovely to sit outside with coffee each morning and watch the birds and squirrels come and go. The Big Rock that the house was built around is spectacular and fun to climb. The house has a fully stocked kitchen, 2 bedrooms plus a sleeper sofa and one bathroom. At the end of the road is a beautiful hiking trail. There are also plently of opportunities for road biking and mountain biking. The house is about 10 minutes from downtown Ojai, which is a beautiful drive. All-in-all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Big Rock Retreat, and heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to have a little quiet,privacy and relaxation.
