Beautiful home...once you get to it !

Left on 09/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The a-frame home is everything, and more than we expected. Warm and cozy with wonderful furnishings and decorations, plus all the amenities needed.
Being a month long renter, closer care should have been done by some housekeeping issues...cleaner floors in the sunroom and bath...wash the windows !!!,especially in the sunroom. And last, "but not least", the driveway leading "up the hill". The drive up went from an adventure to a challenge to impossible. This will prevent us from considering this rental in the future.

Wonderful escape in a classically decorated chalet.

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The reclusive spot was perfectly located by a frog singing pond on a mountain top. The furniture and classic decorations were from a movie. The gourmet kitchen was stocked.

The house was a little warm inside and hard to keep cool - as it was really hot during this week.

      An adorable, quiet get away!

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2010

This is a very cute "A" frame house in a very private location. It is well equiped including washer/dryer, dishwasher & a blender! The bed is very comfortable however the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs which make night runs a little bit of a challange-sort of like camping-lol! We did experience several very hot days and the air condition just wasn't cooling enough. Over all we really enjoyed our stay & would return in the future!

Living down the road with a few of his wild life friends!

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The house is a lovely place to get away at. We enjoyed the sun room and the living room for the charm and large views outside. The driveway is steep but can be done in first gear only. Not having a bathroom on upper level where the bedroom was, was inconvenient. Still the place is a quiet escape for a couple.

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011

What a beautiful cottage nestled in the mountains! I think we picked the perfect time of year to go, but coming home to a nice little place to ourselves was the icing on the cake! It was so creatively decorated to make you feel right at home! The hospitality of Greybeard was par to none as well... the pumpkin bread was the perfect touch and lit up our mornings with amazing scents!

This is why we rent vacation homes

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in November 2010

We loved our stay for a week at the Little Faberge Egg. The home was presented clean and stocked with all you need to cook and be comfortable. Our dog loved the hilly open greenspace and surrounding trails to walk on. We used the grill and back deck a lot, and at night built fires in the wood stove inside. There is a generous supply of firewood that made our stay much more romantic and cozy. The property is gorgeous.
The driveway is steep but we didn't have a problem.
Speaking of cooking there, the house has accumulated a good supply of spices and some other random items. I would suggest seeing what is there before you bring stuff from home or travel to the grocery store. I brought several items that were already there. I was surprised by all that was there.
The grill was completely out of propane, so we had to foot that trip and bill. It was a trip into town, hunting a propane exchange, and $22. However we really wanted to cook on the grill.
We weren't sure where to get groceries so we ended up going to the Ingles at Exit 64 several times. They do sell wine in there, and it's a convenient stop on the way to or back from asheville.
On prior reviews, a red flag went up for me about heavy perfume being used to cover dog odors since we are sensitive to strong perfumes/cleaning products. I contacted Greybeard and they agreed to use unscented cleaning products. When we opened the door it was completely neutral, I didn't smell a thing. The linens were washed in unscented detergent, but the dryer sheets they had were not unscented. I re-washed them and used my own unscented dryer sheets that I brought with me.
When contacting Greybeard I found that calling is the best way to contact, a couple of my emails went unanswered for a few days, so I called and got my questions answered. All of the girls I spoke to were very nice and accommodating.
If I had to be real picky, I mean really picky, my only complaints were the scented dryer sheets which made the linens perfumey and I re-washed them, and the empty propane can in the grill.
Oh and the trash... we were not clear on what to do with it. It said don't leave it outside overnight because of the possibility of a bear getting into it. But we didn't want to leave a weeks worth of garbage inside either. We noticed a waste management place on the way to and from I-40, so we just dropped it off there. One time we tried to take a bag but it was closed even though the hours said it should be open. Must be a small town thing. But it was another extra trip that we didn't know about. (also, bring a few extra trash bags or grocery plastic bags to re-use, there are 2 supplied that I saw, but then I ended up using grocery bags for the rest of the time since I couldn't find any more heavier plastic trash bags, I may not have found them though)
Other than that, I would come back here in a heartbeat. We had a large loaf of Pumpkin bread from Greybeard waiting for us with a nice note when we arrived, and also they supply you with the first round of toilet paper and paper towels (then you have to supply your own). The paper products supplied were Marcal Small Steps (recycled paper) and I smiled when I saw it.
We used the bed upstairs in the loft and also the pull out bed in the sunroom, one of us snores and has to let the other get some sleep. lol. The beds were okay, but could use some upgrading. The living room could use an updated couch too.
The tourist things were did were great, we did the Navitat canopy zipline tour in Barnardsville, (about an hour away from the cabin), and a 2 day pass at the Biltmore. Bring your bikes! The first day we rode the Biltmore trails and toured the garden, and the 2nd day we toured the house. Amazing.
We also rode about an hour on the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was very very pretty. We tried to go to the arboretum, but they charge $8 for parking and don't take credit cards. (!?!?) I was floored as we were turned away.
Bottom line is that we truly loved this vacation home and had a wonderful time there.

Little Faberge Egg - Perfect place to stay

Left on 10/22/2010 for a stay in October 2010

The Little Faberge Egg was an absolute perfect, relaxing cabin with a private relaxing setting. Just as described on the Greybeard Realty website, the Little Faberge Egg was clean, quiet with all the amenities and conveniences that you need to have a perfect vacation. Only minutes from downtown Old Fort, and about 10-15 minutes to Black Mountain. Looking forward to my next visit.

Perfect for a short vacation with family & pets. Only drawback was sunroom had too much perfumed air freshener to cover previous dog odors ( I have perfume allergies & my dogs must not have liked the smell, because they wouldn't go in the room).

We enjoyed our stay... The only two things that may need to be mentioned to renters about this cottage is the driveway can be hard to get up, because ofvery deep gravel. ( I could not have driven my car.) We had a truck, and I still slid in the ditch. Had to be Pulled up the drive by sweet neighbor.. No dishwasher. Upon arrival I had to wash the glasses and some things before I could use them. They were covered in dust and greasy film. They had not been washed in a very very long time.. Overall we had a nice time. The cottage was well equipped and the owner obviously went far and beyond to offer extra needed supplies. I hate to even mention the driveway and dirty dishes, because there were other nice things that made up for that. The one bath being downstairs and the only bedroom up, could be hard for some older people at night. We were OK with it. My husband did fear that I might fall down those stairs at night. I'm 62, but I can still manage stairs at night...

Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in April 2010

My wife and I both loved the location and the cottage. We walked the mountain trails several times and found the trail to the waterfall to be worth the hike. Our dog especially liked the sun porch and watched the ducks everyday.

We took side trips to Black Mountain, Asheville, the Biltmore Estate, and went to the Friday night Mountain Music festival in Old Fort. We also drove to several locations for additional hiking.

This cabin gave us peace and quiet, a great view, comfortable accommodations, and was within driving distance of some great tourist spots. Dining in Black Mountain was a treat at several locations.

We would recommend Little Faberge Egg without reservation!

We've had good service in the past with Greybeard and were not dissappointed at all with this rental. The cabin was accurately described and clean and lacked nothing. The setting is very nice. Start a hike right out the door into the woods and after a few minutes you have the feel of wilderness. All in all, a good escape.

      Quiet Getaway for Romantics

Left on 10/21/2009 for a stay in October 2009

If you are looking for peace and quiet in a remarkably private setting, this cabin is for you.

Hidden across a stream, up a hill in its own woods with a pond and trails, Little Fabrage Egg is a wonderful place to escape the hectic pace of a busy work world and reconnect with someone special. You know, each of the famous Fabrage Eggs had a surprise inside. The surprise in this wonderful cabin is your special someone you take with you to share it. The owners have thoughtfully provided everything needed to make this a special romantic retreat.

When was the last time you slept with open windows and smelled the fresh air of mountain woods and listened to a babbling brook, or the happy ribbit of frogs from a pond?

Take a hike up to a secluded waterfall and feel like you're the only two people in the whole world. Or, take a picnic in your private meadow and enjoy wild flowers and birds. There were gorgeous rhododendrons all through the woods and along the stream.

At the end of the day, knock the autumn chill off as you cozy up in front of the wood burning stove and enjoy the scent of hickory.

Of course, there's a flat screen, wireless connection, stereo and such, but who needs those things here?

It's better to relax in the old claw-footed tub and shower, then feel pampered by the pillow top queen-sized bed and its delightful comforter.

Top quality accommodation. And the service by the team at GreyBeard was truly outstanding. They made everything easy.
