Lompoc, CAHoliday Family Reunion and Vacation
Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in December 2012
"Cedars on the Sound!" Those words have a beautiful visual and audio impression in our minds since staying at Cedars on the Sound in Olympia on Puget Sound. We stayed during Christmas Holidays with family for two weeks. The uniqueness started even before we arrived with pleasant communications with the owners. Upon our arrival, we were met with fresh baked cookies on the counter; and the cookies turned out to be just the beginning of our feeling welcomed and comfortable. We were impressed with how the owners planned everything they could to make us feel comfortable and welcomed.
Logs for our use were next to the wood-burning stove to add atmosphere to our winter stay. Close up and personal views of the sound and of the dense seven acres, parkland-like woods of ferns, and cedars were vivid from the dining and living room, sunroom, and master bedrooms. At night only one other house was visible and it looked as though it were out of a Thomas Kinkade scene.
The entire house was clean and fresh. Amenities were more than adequate and useful. Dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils were all neatly organized and clean. A well-planned neighborhood store was only a mile away, the full-fledged Capitol Mall shopping center with big box stores, car malls, and grocery stores about ten minutes away. We toured the nearby State Capitol, Tumwater Park, and enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Terrace Falls Restaurant with views of the falls, all within the Historic District near the Capitol. We were amazed at how we could leave the beautiful, pristine, quiet area of Cedars on the Sound and how quickly we could be in full-blown urban areas.
We visited the nearby Flight Museum and drove downtown Seattle for a holiday performance. The owners provided a lovely binder of many interesting places to visit. We could have spent another two weeks or more and not taken it all in. We highly recommend this location. We think it the ultimate in both a living and vacationing site.

Portland, ORA tranquil getaway to restore the senses and soul.

Vicki Salim, owner of Cedars on the Sound has thought of every detail. Even before we arrived we were shown care: The driving directions were very clear, complete with photographs for potentially complicated turns. As someone who is directionally challenged, I found this touch quite reassuring.
Upon our arrival, Cedars on the Sound had clearly been prepared for our stay. Vicki made us feel welcome immediately! Not only had she written our names on a welcome board, she had left us homemade treats - which we enjoyed throughout our stay.
The house itself is beautiful. All aspects of the home were extremely well kept. The linens were comfortable, the furniture quite nice and the vistas were extraordinary. We were impressed by the gorgeous views that are visible throughout the home. Cedars on the Sound is a delightful combination of luxury and comfort.
The location of Cedars on the Sound is ideal. It is quiet, secluded, and rich in natural beauty - yet only a short drive from downtown Olympia and its amenities.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cedars on the Sound and wished we could extend our stay indefinitely! We would recommend the home to anyone. It makes an excellent escape for couples, retreats, family vacations, or any excuse to get away from the world. -

Watching waterfowl dive and fish on the clear, serene sound. Listening to the peaceful sound of birds chirping in the tree canopy the minute we stepped outside. A cozy night's sleep and great coffee over amazing scenery. A stay at Cedars on the Sound gives all of that and more! We will be back. We will send friends. We can't wait!

Naperville, ILGreat place to stay while visiting Evergreen College in Olympia!
Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Cedars on the Sound was the perfect place to stay while we moved our freshmen daughter in Evergreen College. It was only a short 10 minute (beautiful) drive to and from the College. The home is spacious and has everything you could possible need. Vicki, our hostess, was beyond wonderful--greeting us at the door, providing information about the area including restaurants, college etc. and even a plate of home baked chocolate cookies! We look forward to staying at Cedars on the Sound the next time we visit!

Family of Seven adults and one toddler, we stayed a full week. House is well equipted and very comfortable. Very clean. Wooded location on the sound was very private, and easily accesable. Close enough to Olympia to enjoy the city. We did the Farmers Market and the Waterfront. We saw seals almost every day in the sound, as we watched the tide go in & out. Saw an eagle soaring over the sound. We also walked a lot and picked great blackberries for cobblers.
We have rented numerous homes on Vrbo, & this home is at the top of the list. -

Balzan MaltaA spot of paradise!
Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Cedars on the Sound is fabulous. It is located on the Puget Sound so it is more central than Seattle (an hour away) to tour the area around the Hood Canal Mount Ranier and Mount St Helens besides helping you to avoid getting stuck in Seattle and Tacoma traffic. The furnishings, the kitchen facilities and the quality of the rooms is excellent and the view from most rooms is stunning as it overlooks the bay. The hosts simply go out of their way to satisfy your requests and needs right from the moment you book. It is an ideal place for families and for those who shy away from night life and prefer tranquility.

Vicki and Salim were always very helpful once we decided to chose this locatio to rent. As soon as you are let into this vacation home you think you are living a dream. Its location is excellent if you like dreamy and secluded places. Its right in the middle of the forest and at the edge of the Puget Sound. Maijn amenities are within a short drive away. People who love city life would find it out of the way but people who want to tour the area are going to find it conveninet because one avoids the traffic in Seattle and Tacoma to go to major sights such as Mount Ranier Puget Sound and Hood Canal . It is more central to visit these various places than staying nearer to Seattle and Tacoma. We liked everything about Cedars. The interiors of teh cottage are impeccably kept and very luxurious. It is great even for families.

Portland, ORWonderful Family Memories Made at Cedars on the Sound!!!
Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Our family had a wonderful time at Cedars on the Sound. The home is nestled in a sea of beautiful cedars and ferns with an outstanding view of the Sound. The owners have thought of everything to ensure children have fun here from kiddie plates, movies, board games, books, night lights. The house is well stocked and very clean. (We even noticed a pack and play, crib sheets and high chair which we no longer need but thought it was cool to mention.) Our kids loved playing outside exploring the woods, splashing in the water, taking the boat for a ride and collecting shells as the tide went out. They were thrilled when 2 Bald Eagles came swooping into one of the trees near us. The bird life is amazing! There is a market just a few minutes away to grab a pizza and the basics and have a fun family night. Olympia is a short drive away with good restaurants and fun places to visit. We went to Capital Lake for a walk, beautiful. We will definitely be back to Cedars on the Sound, it was great! Thank you Vicki and amir for making reservations so easy.
