Our family spent 3 days and nights here last June and absolutely loved it. We just booked for the same weekend in June and can't wait for the trip. Here is a breakdown of why we find this Tahoe home to be such a perfect fit for us (and many others):
1. Location: Easy to get to as it sits between Truckee and Tahoe City and falls on a main road, but the long driveway means the home is secluded. The house is nestled back in the trees allowing beautiful views and has all sorts of little tracks and outside areas to explore. We loved to wander across the street to the Truckee River and to walk around the grounds. But then it is essentially 10-15 minutes to all places you might need or want.
2. Family fit: The location certainly set the stage for our wonderful trip, but the house itself really suited us. It is very child friendly - our kids (aged 1 and 3) loved to pile cushions up in the basement and run around, play ping pong, sit at the poker table, explore the patios or run down the hall upstairs.
3. Group fit: We went up with another family (same age kids) and the house really could not have been better for this crew of 8. We slept on one side of the home while the other family took 3 bedrooms at the other end. The closets are so big and have windows that we used both of them for the older kids (who liked the idea of building a "nest"). Early wakers could go down to the lowest level and run around without disturbing others. We could hang out as a big group very easily but also separate into family units if desired.

Any review of this house would be incomplete if I first didn't mention the owners. We had some last minute travel complications that threatened to derail our vacation. When I emailed Kevin and explained what was going on he immediately responded and was able to accommodate our needs.
It has been said before, but is worth stating again, pictures do not do this house justice. When you enter the house one is immediately struck by the vaulted ceilings and openness of the family room/kitchen. When you begin to explore the remainder of the house, it is easy to become lost because of the sheer size. My children immediately wanted to play hide and seek (which they played almost all day, every day for the week we were there).
Kevin has done an excellent job of mixing rustic cabin with modern touches. The cabin has the "feel" one would expect in Tahoe, but you are surrounded by modern finishing work (track lighting, stainless steel appliances, etc).
If the house itself weren't enough, its location to Squaw Valley is second to none. Our purpose of the stay was Ironman Lake Tahoe which was focused in Squaw Valley. We could not have found a better location! A few minute drive into Squaw, a short drive into Truckee for any last minute needs. Simply perfect.
If we decide to do the race again we will definitely be contacting Kevin to stay at his house.

This one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at! The owner, Kevin & his and his wife Cathy, are wonderful people and do their absolute best to make your stay a really wonderful experience! It's the perfect location. Not too close, but not too far away from Truckee or North Shore Lake Tahoe! Going back again in a week from now!

Ideal for a large group of skiers or friends, just a little bit inconvenient for a large family of 12 who like a little more comfort. Sleeping arrangements were difficult due to there being 5 couples, but we managed. Great location but easy to miss off the main road. Quiet, peaceful and certainly a great place to get away from it all!

All I have to say is: this house is amazing, super clean meticulously cared, beautiful design layout with stunning architectural details... It will take me more than ten pages to described all the goods in this house, (Huge game room with pong table, card table, board games etc... etc...) Super location... really close to all the bike trails at the Olympic Valley.
We rented several properties before in Tahoe, Rene, South Lake Tahoe Etc... But the best of the best is definitely this property. The instructions provided for the house were simple to understand, all of their communications were prompt and clear.
And finally I have to say that the property owners are the most amazing people, easy to work with them, very fine and gentle people.
Honestly, stop looking around; this is the place to go... we will absolutely be back!

We are so lucky to have found the Dill's lovely home in Tahoe, it really made our Thanksgiving family reunion perfect!
First, the house is stunning. It's clearly meticulously cared for and has soaring ceilings, modern kitchen / appliances, large comfy bedrooms and a huge rec. room (including ping pong, card table, lots of board games, etc). The house was also incredibly well stocked. There were loads of dishes, utensils, pots & pans to suit any cooking need. And the things we usually forget to bring like paper towels, coffee filters, spices, olive oil, etc were waiting for us in the pantry. They had sleds in the basement for the perfect little hill in the back yard and a garage fully stocked with firewood (a real benefit instead of having to pay $10 per bundle locally).
The location also cannot be beat. It feels secluded backing up to the national forest but is just a stone's throw from Squaw Valley. It's also smack dab between Truckee and Tahoe City (about 5 miles to each) providing easy access to restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc.
Finally, the Dill's could not have been nicer to work with. The instructions provided for the house were simple to understand, all of their communications were prompt and clear and they were even willing to accommodate a last minute change to our reservation without hesitation.
I really can't say enough about this place, we will absolutely be back!
This amazing chateau is a favorite destination for my husband and our friends and family. With ample, comfortable sleeping arrangements for over 10 people, we particularly enjoy the open family room adjacent to the kitchen and dining areas, chef quality kitchen appliances, great storage space (including parking), comfortable beds & quality bedding, easy access to the lake and all ski resorts keep us coming back to this lovely retreat.
