Belfast, Northern Ireland, United KingdomGreat House - Will be back
Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We travelled from Belfast over New Years for 2 nights to Lakeside Cottage. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 6 kids ranging from 13mths - 4yrs.
On arrival the heat had been on so the house was comfortable and there were basic provisions provided for us - toilet roll, bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.
We had requested 2 fold up beds - there were 2 proper beds in the hallway waiting to be built. (We were expecting little cheap beds)
The owner arrived asking what bedrooms we wanted the additional beds in. At this stage all families hadn't arrived and he was more than happy to come back again to build the beds. (We thought we would have had to do it ourselves) and left a large bag of logs for the wood burning stove. His son also set the wood burning stove for us.
3 of the bedrooms offered en suites all of which had been thoroughly cleaned from the last residents and had toilet roll and towels. The bedrooms were good size - all couple had a travel cot in addition to the bed and furniture. Beds were comfortable.
The kitchen was well equipped and opened onto a spacious dining area.
On our second day we called the owner to ask where we could get more logs and he left some more to the house.
All in all we were all more than happy with the house as a family we are planning to go back and explore all the area has to offer. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to anyone. -

SloughComfortable and restful with attentive owners
Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Although the cottage is located in a countryside setting, we had little difficulty finding it. As we started to unload the car, one of the owners arrived to greet us and to provide a quick guide to the house, including instructions on using key equipment. He also ensured that there was sufficient wood for the log-burning stove.
The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was so large it quickly acquired the nickname of "the ballroom". It contained a welcome selection of supplies to get us started. An array of brochures was on hand to help guests plan where to go and what to see.
There were six people in our party. Had there been ten, the cottage would have handled the situation with ease because of the availability of additional beds. One afternoon, we had eighteen people at the house. There was no impression of crowding - and no car parking problems.
Throughout our two-week stay, the owners were on hand to make sure that all was well. They even called by to ensure that we were not being so polite or timid as to fail to raise issues. We really appreciated their efforts.
Our overseas guests enjoyed their stay and found they were able to make a number of one-day drives to various attractions both in Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland.
The owners were interested in feedback and in ideas for improvement. Only relatively minor tweaks were required and, consequently, our suggestions included a few more cooking utensils, some clothes hooks and a different ironing board - we did have some comic moments trying to iron on a rather bendy ironing board!
Overall, a very comfortable, restful and enjoyable place to stay, with attentive owners and offering good value for money.

LampeterFantastic place to stay!!!
Left on 08/28/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We are a family of 7 and we have often found it very stressful when coming to find accommodation, so when we found this cottage it was a pleasant surprise.
Upon arrival we were greeted with all we needed to make that perfect cup of tea - just what you needed after being stuck in the car for the past 6 hours with 5 kids! That was a lovely touch.
The property was delightfully decorated and had everything we needed for our weeks stay, from a large kitchen which was perfect to cook in, to 4 spacious bedrooms there was enough room for all of us and more. There was 2 TVs with DVD players and more.
The cottage was very clean and we were able to let our kids wonder out side alone as there was no fear of harm coming to them and they fully enjoyed that bit of independence.
I cant thank this family enough as they have been very accommodating and friendly and overall Lovely. We would defiantly recommend staying here and we will defiantly be back very soon. Thank-you.Response from Jim Rafferty - 09/04/2012
