Lake Orta is the most romantic of Italian lakes!
Is it very close to many beatiful places like Orta St. Guilio, Lake Maggiore with Stresa, Lake Mergozzo, Vigezzo Valley, Strona Valley with Campello Monti, Valsesia and many more. It is only 50 minutes from Milan Malpensa airport and 1 hour and 15 minutes to Milan city center.
Possibility of swimming, canoeing, windsurfing, hiking in summer..skiing in winter.

Franco is a wonderful host who really cares about his guests. He goes far beyond what you might expect to accomodate you as a guest. The house if very clean, stylishly appointed and has a phenomenal location. I especially liked jumping of the balcony into the lake and lounging in the garden.

Even if I only stayed for the weekend I managed to unplug from city life at Franco's house, less than two hours drive from my Milan residence. The house is stunningly located on the lake and backed by mountains, so whatever your outdoor favourite activities, you have plenty of choice there. Franco -the owner and host- is nice, approachable and classy: you can definitely see his distinguished taste in the house and room decoration.. As I am a great animal lover I also enjoyed the company of the two friendly resident dogs! I am definitely going back for more chll-out weekends!

I know Franco since I was a teenager and I visited him in 2009 (I didn't rent). He has a beautiful house with a huge garden on the lake in Omegna. The area has plenty of clean air and is close to Switzerland, Pinocchio's home and Milan.

Franco was great. He opened his home to us like it was our own. We felt so comfortable and welcome. Every morning he would set up a table of coffee, pastries and fruit on the deck above the lake. The location was perfect. After breakfast, you can just hop off the deck into the lake. It's a good walk or run into town. Franco did supply us with bikes to ride around town.
I love how he made us feel like old friends. I can't wait to go back to my home away from home.
