Additional Location Information
One of the greatest assets about Orange Beach is that everything you need to make your vacation memorable is 'just around the corner'! We named our waterfront home 'Blue Bayou' because it overlooks the bayou and is only minutes by boat to the Gulf of Mexico. It's tucked away in a peaceful family neighborhood and away from the noisy tourist packed high rises. Cotton Bayou Beach, Alabama Point Beach and Orange Beach as well as the Cotton Bayou Boat Ramp, Zeke's Landing Marina and Bear Point Marina are all within 5-10 minutes away. There are also many miles of protected water and bays to explore with small boats, pontoons, or the 2 provided kayaks, complete with paddles and life jackets. Enjoy adventures leading to white sandy beach islands, perfect for shelling and swimming.
Grocery and convenience stores such as Publix are very close, also within 5 minutes and the outstanding Tanger Outlet mall is a thirty-minute trip by car. There are all types of shopping, family activities, movies, and live concerts at the Wharf complex just 10 minutes down the road. The towns of Foley and Gulf Shores offer additional nearby family entertainment and shopping experiences with outstanding bars and restaurants in all directions.
You may want to venture further to explore Pensacola, a 45 minute drive along the pretty coast. There you can visit the National Naval Aviation Museum or watch the exciting United States Navy’s Blue Angels practice overhead. Why not visit historical Fort Morgan which features artillery batteries, a museum, picnic area, bird sanctuary and fishing pier and is about 30 miles west and at the mouth of Mobile Bay.
We think you'll find that Orange Beach is the best-kept secret along the shores of the Gulf. From the beautiful white sand, swaying palms and gorgeous ocean waters, to plenty of restaurants serving delectable seafood and icy drink concoctions, to limitless choices of fun activities and the serenity of a more casual lifestyle, Orange Beach promises to be your favorite vacation destination...and 'Blue Bayou' your favorite vacation home away from home....and remember...Life's always Better on the Bayou!

Milwaukee, WisconsinHome away from Home!

Just got back from a great trip to the Gulf Shores. This was our first trip down there and def won't be our last. We traveled with a group of 12+ people. 9 adults, 3 kids. The Blue Bayou home was a great fit for our needs and Sue and Bill were excellent to work with! The home is large and has so much room for everyone. One of the things I liked best about the rooms traveling with little ones - was that there are multiple beds in the rooms. This allowed us to have the kids near us which was very helpful. The thing I liked least about traveling with little ones with this home is the fact that the backyard is very open to the canal and the pool - which is amazing, but limited the kids to life vests at all times :) The house has so many great accommodations from ping pong, to kayaks, bikes and everything you need to feel at home. The location is just a short distance from the main strip, so we still felt like we were in the mix of everything, but also enjoyed our privacy. Great Find Overall!

We so enjoyed our stay in your spacious & comfortable home. This was our second visit & we hope to return again next year.
Your lovely home is so roomy & bright that we were able to enjoy friends & family each day. Whether it was a cook out or finger foods, there was plenty of room for everyone. With 5 comfortable bedrooms, we were able to get a good nights sleep & start a new day enjoying coffee on the balcony (a favorite). We appreciated the addition of the hammock, (a great place for a peaceful nap) & the bikes this year. Some enjoyed the kayaks again as well.
Having an elevator is an added plus for those who cannot climb stairs.
We were close to shopping & restaurants, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the peace & beauty of the area.
A special thank you to the couple next door who manage and care for the home. They were great too!
Thank you Bill & Susan for the many extras. Hope to return next year! -

We had a wonderful vacation at Blue Bayou. Our family enjoyed this home so much, it accomodated all our needs, so spacious and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the pool, kayaks, fishing and boating for sightseeing and traveling to some wonderful restaurants. Our next door neighbors were very nice and helpful.
Blue Bayou home is #1 as a vacation rental home in our opinion, the best vacation home we have rented.
We had so such fun just getting out and riding in the boat, went to see the fireworks by boat, went to The Wharf by boat and out to some of the smaller islands to jet ski and swim. We will definitely be going back to Blue Bayou home in the future.
Bill and Susan, thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and for making our stay at your home such a pleasurable one. We will have some wonderful memories of this time together with our family. We wish you both well and thank you again for all your kindness. -

We were blown away with how beautiful and relaxing our visit to the Blue Bayou vacation home was. A short drive from the airport, and a short canal ride to the gulf! We so enjoyed hanging out at the pool, fishing in the canal and cooking on the outdoor grill. Our guest rooms were more than comfortable, spacious and definitely set the scene for our vacation. We will be back next year with our kids! Thank you for helping us to create new family memories.

Moss Point, MSBest Family Vacation Ever!
Left on 04/19/2012 for a stay in June 2011
Our family stayed at Blue Bayou for our summer vacation last year, and we can't wait to head back this summer! Blue Bayou is a beautiful home with ample room for a large family or multiple families. We had 13 people in our party, and we all slept comfortably...in fact, we had plenty of room to spare! The interior of the house looks like it belongs in a Pottery Barn magazine...a very laid back and comfortable beach style. We felt right at home when we walked through the door! Cotton Bayou offers such a great sense of community...especially for boat lovers! The neighbors are incredible, and you can charter a fishing trip right next door! You wouldn't believe the size of the red snapper our guys came home with. My husband, an avid fisherman, said it was the best charter he's ever been on! The beautiful outdoor space, boat slip, private pool, and fabulous interior certainly make Blue Bayou a great find for families visiting Orange Beach. I am counting the days until summer!

Thanks for visiting Blue Bayou! We still can't believe the size and quantities of Red Snapper you all caught that week. We can't wait to welcome you again in 2012! Bill and Susan

We so enjoyed our two wk. stay @ your lovely home! This clean and well kept home and yard (with plenty of parking) is located in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood. Bill & Susan have furnished it with everything you need, and then some. Each room is comfortably furnished, & the elevator made it possible for those unable to climb stairs to enjoy time with family & friends as well. For us this was a real plus!! The spacious home provided plenty of room to entertain & enjoy friends. I would certainly recommend this home. The owners were great to work with which was an added bonus. Maybe we will be able to stay with you again.

Thanks for visiting Blue Bayou! We are so happy that you enjoyed the home and the great area. The house is such a great place for family reunions and that is what we love about sharing it with our guests. We're glad you enjoyed the kayaking in the canals - you can reach the small sandy islands in a short time and enjoy swimming, sunning, shelling and relaxing. It's great that you found the elevator so helpful. Even if guests can navigate stairs easily we find they are happy to be able to take groceries and supplies easily up to the second level. Please come back to Blue Bayou!

Our family of 25 met at Blue Bayou and shared one of the most memorable Thanksgivings any of us have every had and this would not have been possible if not for William and Susan's beautiful and accomodating Blue Bayou Home! Everyone had plenty of room and bathrooms galore. of course only 15 of us stayed there, but most of the time we had 25 people there at any given time and everyone was comfortable, felt at home, and loved the view. Weather was great, the beaches in that area are beautiful and very close. We hope to go there again in the near future! Thanks Bill and Susan from all of us!

Thanks for such a lovely story about your Thanksgiving Holiday at Blue Bayou! We have had some great stories from guests who needed a place to get together and reconnect. Each story means so much to us and we are truly grateful to be able to share our home. We were fortunate to recently host our own family reunion at Blue Bayou and as they say “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.” We are happy you could savor those moments. Blue Bayou is a great house, but the families and friends who love it make it a home. Thanks so much for being our guests. Hope you will come back soon!

Eight of us stayed at the house at the end of March. Six adults and 2 childres (ages 16 & 10) All of us had a blast. The house was very clean and the beds more comfortable than the ones we have at home. You do not find that often! Stores are conveniently located but you are off of the main drag so ever the spring breakers were not a problem for us! If you go, make sure you see the Blue angels in training. The elevator was a blessing for loading in everything and avoiding the stairs. We had wild life in our backyard and chameleons on the deck! We had 3 large Suvs and had no trouble parking them on the drive.

We are so happy you all had a great time at Blue Bayou and that everyone found the beds so comfortable! We think comfy beds and bedding are an integral part of a successful vacation and we always look for this feature when we vacation, so this was a priority for us when furnishing Blue Bayou for our guests. We agree that it’s great having the Publix grocery store less than 5 minutes away. They carry all the usual grocery staples as well as gourmet and specialty items in their awesome deli section. It’s nice to have the CVS Pharmacy right there as well and there are lots of surf shops close by where you can pick up beach towels, beach toys or flip-flops! The Blue Angels practicing overhead should not be missed – they practice every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at around 8:30. We are lucky to be able to offer the convenience of an elevator for those who are unable to navigate stairs or just want the convenience of bringing groceries and supplies easily to the upper level. We also love the wildlife and our visits from “Harry the Heron” who stops in each morning and at dusk along the Bayou. We look forward to your return visit...we hope you think of Blue Bayou as a place to call your ”Home away from Home”!

We had a large group (12 adults + kids) stay at Blue Bayou and everyone loved it! It is such a beautiful home and very spacious. The neighbors on each side are very welcoming and friendly. We loved the pool and the recreation room. A lot of us went kayaking. (It is only 5 minutes to the ocean by kayak!) There are several beaches within a 5 minute drive. All the beaches we went to were beautiful, not crowded, and had plenty of parking. Everyone in our group really enjoyed the trip and cannot wait until the next chance we have to stay there again.

We are so happy that you had such a great time at Blue Bayou and that you all enjoyed the 2 provided kayaks! It's amazing to stay in such a quiet neighborhood but yet be so close to the great beaches and basic amenities like groceries and beach supplies! We recently added 4 bikes and 6 beach chairs as well as some fishing equipment for our guests' use.
We hope you will visit Orange Beach and Blue Bayou again soon!
