Additional Location Information
All our rentals are located on the sunny west side of Orcas Island, Wa. Considered the Gem of the San Juan Island chain, Orcas Island has verdant farmlands as mountains, lakes and more interesting waterfront than any of the other islands (simply because of its complex shape--water surrounds us and there are sounds, inlets and coves). Our resident deer, rabbits, eagles, comorants, gulls, heron, dolphins, seals otter, and, of course, orca whales will enchant you.

Salt Lake City, UtahMariner's Dream Really Was...
Left on 04/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We honeymooned at Mariner's Dream. Yes, it was april in the NW. So the weather was grey and wet. But the views, the seclusion and the charming late out of the cottage clearly made up for Mother Nature. The views from the bedroom, the living area and most importantly the deck and hot tub are breathtaking. The cottage itself, although close to some other homes, feels completely secluded. It's like a little oasis nestled in the tree line. We loved the floor plan with a large deck in between the main living area and the bedroom. And the hot tub was fabulous. We loved every minute of our stay!

Mesa, ArizonaDidn't want to leave...
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My family and I stayed in the Mariners Dream Cottage and we didn't want to leave. It was so beautiful and peaceful! We had planned to tour the island but just loved the cottage so much we stayed put. Just watching the ferries come and go all day was enough outside entertainment for us. The cottage window views were the most spectacular, like windows I've always "dreamed" about. Although we pick a different location every year for our family vacation, this is one we might repeat! Beautiful!

Thank you. Our Concept for All Dream Cottages is just that:. . .so much more than a place to sleep. We tell guests that there is lots to see and do on Orcas. Having said that, we also like it when our guests choose to experience the magic of Orcas through our windows..

Portland, OregonGreat place for girls weekend!
Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This place is perfect for a girls get away! There were 4 of us and between the 2 pull out couches and the queen bed we were more than comfy! Once we arrived, we took a 3 minute stroll to the gourmet grocery store, stocked up on fresh seafood for the BBQ, snacks and adult beverages. Then we enjoyed the amazing views, comfy seating on the deck, dinner, drinks and the hot tub. So fun! Lots of fun hiking and pubs to enjoy the local flavor. Kitchen is well stocked and even doing dishes has a view! Would for sure go back!

Property lives up to its photos. Spacious and relaxing living room. Functional kitchen. Very close to ferry terminal but makes for wonderful views especially at night.
Very steep and many steps to parking at the road. Very steep at back of property going toward water. But with the view and great livingroom and deck there is no need to go anywhere. Just curl up and relax. -

Sea Dream cottage was stunningly beautiful from the dreamlike view to every detail of the decor. If you like the kind of place where you have absolute peace, a spectacular view from every angle (including the kitchen sink), sunsets, and sea glass treasures with every tide, then plan your trip around staying at this cottage. Our last evening we were blessed to have 6 orcas swim right out in front and were bid farewell with a pair of deer on the beach below.

We were very fortunate to have found this gem on Orcas Island. The Sea Dream Cottage is located at the end of the road on the West side, with its own private beach. The full glass window front made for an exceptional view of the islands, with the sun and the moon. The fireplace with extra wood on the side of the cottage was a nice touch. Everything that you need for great get a way awaits you.

North of Boston, MA USAAwesome! Beautiful! Peaceful! Renewing!
Left on 11/12/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Stayed in the Sea Dream cottage the first week in September for three nights. We thought we'd be out and about all day and just come back to the cottage for dinner and to sleep, but we did not want to do more than take short breaks away to sightsee. We loved this cottage and everything about it - the location (facing west into spectacular sunsets); the serenity (almost on top of the water); the cottage itself (floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful but comfortable furnishings). We hated to leave and would definitely, absolutely, without a doubt return here if/when we are lucky enough to get back to the San Juan Islands. The kitchen was small but efficiently laid-out and well-equipped. The bathroom was also small, but adequate and we had plenty of hot water for showering, plus there were plenty of deliciously-soft towels (thank you, Nanae!!). After dinner we'd just sit on the deck (full width of the cottage), listen to the waves lapping the shore below us, and watch the sun set behind the other islands. No TV, no internet, but who needs it when you have a place as perfect as Sea Dream Cottage?

lehigh valley, paBeautiful setting, but spoiled by late night intruders.
Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The Isle Dream is a 375 square foot, open floor plan cottage with a spectacular view. The trail to the rocky beach is difficult to navigate, but worth it to see all the sea stars. Their is a "ghost deer" and her fawn that come around. We did manage to get a photo of the fawn. The dual shower with the sunlight is great. There is also a property that is under renovation(not progressing rapidly) adjacent to the cottage.
Our last night we were woken up around 11pm by someone trying to get into the cottage though the front door. Terrified, we screamed and yelled for them to leave. We could see there were 2 people up on the doorstep and wrap-around deck. They eventually left yelling they had the wrong cottage. We could hear a car at the top of the path that leads down to the cottage. Finally, we hear the car leave. Fortunately, our nightly habit includes locking the doors. If that had not occurred, things could have gotten very bad. The intruders would have been met with fire tools to the head. After our heart and respiratory rates returned to normal(about 30 minutes) we called the owners to tell them what happened. We were a bit surprised to find out they already knew about the event. Apparently, the people trying to get into the cottage were the next renters due to come in the next day. While the owners stress respecting their guests' privacy, this is an incident in which they should have immediately called us to tell us what had occurred. We told them we did not feel safe and were assured that they had never had any safety issues(not sure what they considered the 2 idiots trying to get into the cottage). The owners get low marks for customer service in this regard. We obviously did not sleep much the rest of the night and left early in the morning. While the owners can't idiot proof who they rent to, we feel they should have contacted us immediately after finding out what had occurred. The owner seemed to downplay the event and did not show any concern for safety. While the setting was physically beautiful, we will not return to this place. The event of the last night there accounts for our low rating of this property. -

Sea Dream Cottage is idyllic. Nicely appointed cottage with all glass front facing sunsets. Quiet. Private. We watched the tide ebb & flow, the changing light on the soft round-backed islands, the occasional loon or sea otter paddling past. We sat on the deck with a glass of wine, completely enchanted. Orcas has plenty of interesting sights and the best bookstore ever, but we were happy just to sit at Sea Dream and be beguiled by the island spell.

After a tumultuous year, I needed a place where I could rest and regroup. I wanted a place where I could let the mental and emotional waters calm, let the silt settle out, and think about what I wanted my priorities to be.
Sea Dream was perfect. Watching the water was better than any medicine, and falling asleep at night to the sound of the waves on the beach was tremendously relaxing. I woke each morning rested and able to think more clearly than I had in months. It was everything I had hoped it would be - and quite possibly the best vacation I've ever taken. -

Wildlife is abundant and we were able to bring our dog; she had a wonderful vacation too! We are counting the days until we can return.

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in September 2010
The Isle Dream cottage was perfect! Small and snug, a great getaway for two or even one. The furnishings were fitting for the small cabin, very comfortable. Not having TV or internet was a plus. We didn't use the DVD player since we prefered watching the wildlife to watching a screen. The resident deer and rabbits are a welcome sight in the early morning and late afternoon. The cottage has a library of various reading materials that we took advantage of between sightseeing trips. The spacious deck contained comfy adirondack chairs, a bistro set , a grill and a view to die for!
The bathroom contains a huge shower with a skylight - it ifeels like you are showering outdoors. Not your everyday bathroom!
The wood burning stove (with instructions on how to start a fire) was ready to use, but not needed since the cool weather was welcomed by us Texans!
The cottage is located only a few miles from Eastsound so you are not far from the restaurants and shops, but you are far enough away that you have the remote feel. It is very quiet.
The only possible drawback would be for people who have difficulty with navigating an incline. The path from the parking area to the cottage is not difficult, but the path from the cottage to the dock might prove to be too steep for some - but, you don't have to go down to the dock if you don't want to.
We loved every minute of our stay and hope to return. -

We stayed for two nights to celebrate our 41st anniversary. The cottage was right on the water, very clean, and decorated beautifully - glorious fireplace - which Nanae had already set up for us (thank you!). Though we did not cook - had we wanted to, everything was available in the kitchen. The whole setting was breathtaking - and though we were not fortunate enough to see any whales - we did see an otter and two magnificent eagles fly by. The whole island is a romantic destination. If I could have wished for just one thing, it would have been to have a hot tub so we could have "bubbled" under the incredible blanket of stars.

Sea Deam cottage is isolated and very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The cottage was very clean on our arrival. Views from the front deck are fantastic. We spotted wildlife daily. The only negative we would give is that the kitchen is not real well stocked, so if you're going to cook in you need to check if the utensils you would need are there. The owners live next door and are very friendly if you need any island advice. We will definitely stay at this cottage again if we return to Orcas.

My husband and my 8 month old son and I stayed at the Day Dream Farm Cottage for four nights in august and it was fantastic. The two bedrooms plus kitchen, baths, porches and living area were great for our small family and made our stay on Orcas very homey. We really liked the tranquility of the location, yet it wasn't far from anything (nothing seems that far on the island). We loved Orcas and hope to be back to do more exploring!

The Mariner's Dream Cottage is the perfect romantic getaway spot. We stayed at the cottage for our second anniversary and loved the view, the quiet, the comfort, and the private hot tub! The only noise was the occasional announcement from the ferry dock close by. Looking out over the water and seeing seals and birds every day was wonderful. With easy check in, plenty of parking, walking access to the local store, and lots of recreational activities to choose from it was a very relaxing and no-stress trip. We'll return to Orcas Island and stay at one of the all Dream Cottages again in the future.

Portland, ORA special place for a special weekend
Left on 05/28/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I found the Mariner's Dream cottage while searching for a special place to take my girlfriend (at the time) and propose to her. I was looking for a quiet, romantic, beautiful, private place to stay for the weekend, and this was literally the perfect spot.
We arrived on the mid-day ferry and spotted the cottage as we pulled up - the location is absolutely amazing. My biggest concern when I was looking at the house was that the proximity to the ferry and the island's main road would lead to noise or distraction, but I could not have been more wrong. The cottage sits well downhill from the road and we felt completely alone and uninterrupted the entire weekend.
The cottage is perfect in every way. The deck is magnificent, large and has uninterrupted, breathtaking views of the water and surrounding islands. The places comes equipped with everything you could need for the weekend and the owner's service, presentation, furniture and decorating taste are all impeccable.
The bottom line: I can't say enough. She said yes and the Mariner's Dream will be a special place to us for a long time to come. -

Seattle, WAFifth time's a charm!
Left on 05/10/2010 for a stay in September 2009
This was our fifth stay at the Isle Dream Cottage,
and as usual it was truly dreamy. Richard & Nanae
take immaculate care of their properties (we've
also stayed at the Sea Dream Cottage--which is
equally charming), and you'll find everything you
need to settle in and really enjoy your stay. The
cottage has a small footprint, but the open floor-
plan makes it seem much more spacious than the
square footage suggests. The deck is quite large
and extends the living space outdoors for bar-b-
queuing or just reading a book out in the fresh
air. Situated atop a rocky outcropping, the cottage
benefits from 180 degree water views, as well as a
fantastic vantage point for watching birds,
seaplanes, the lights from Eastsound, and the
sunset against the hills across the water. There's
a path down to a private dock where you can observe
starfish, schools of fish and jellys, and even the
occasional seals, otters or ferrets. As long as
you're reasonably quiet you are likely to see many
deer up close. The Fralick's supply wood for the
stove (for heat, not for cooking), and the kitchen
is well stocked, and surprisingly well-suited, for
cooking nearly any kind of meal. There's a
cd/stereo, and even a TV/VCR provided for
entertainment, and there's a bookcase with novels,
maps, and some puzzles and games for those who come
to 'unplug' and relax. The quaint and cheery
bathroom is one of the surprise joys of the
property--it's efficient and fully-functional, and
the double-ended shower with skylight brings
comfort as well as a lot of light regardless of the
weather outside. My wife and I came here for our
honeymoon 10 years ago, and we've continued to come
back to Orcas, Eastsound and the Isle Dream despite
the fact that we love to try new places. There's
just something magical about this little cottage
and the beautiful scenery surrounding it. Its
location is easy & convenient from the Ferries, and
a it's a short & pretty drive to town in Eastsound.
I recommend this getaway highly! -
