Serene location, just what one looks for in a farm-house

Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in April 2013

I've stayed at the Olga Farmhouse on a few previous occasions. Each time, the owners had used the 'off-season' to add improvements to the house. This year, there is a rework of the main bath that has made it even more comfortable, while keeping within the overall style of the farmhouse. This is really a wonderful location - just minutes from Moran State Park, with many options for walks and hikes, and the beautiful views from Mt. Constitution. The re-vamped Rosario Resort is also within a few minutes drive, and is a great spot for happy-hour, dinner, and viewing this historic property. From the Olga Farmhouse, you can have a great walk to the Olga Cafe and art Works, or around the corner to buck bay. While I sat at the new dining table, a bald-eagle flew directly over the house while a flock of deer grazed in the meadow. This house works well for a few friends, or a larger family group. I always return from the Olga Farmhouse refreshed and relaxed.

A Perfect Orcas Refuge for a Family

Left on 08/03/2010 for a stay in July 2010

The Olga Farmhouse more than lived up to its photos and description. Old enough to have charm and coziness, but modernized enough for comfort and convenience (the pots and pans are better than ours, as is the TV). Practically all the supplies and amenities seemed new, including the BBQ.
Lovely, quiet location--we saw an eagle from the front window!--yet it's right up the road from a fabulous cafe and gallery. Bigger than we needed--sleeps at least 8. Our teenage daughter loved having the upstairs to herself. Big fridge, and you can cook or bake anything (note: groceries are cheaper off-island--buy what you can ahead). Owners were responsive and easy to deal with. Best for outdoorsy types who really want to get away, as the ferry and town (i.e., East Sound) are a 30 to 40-min. drive. Yet the great swimming and hiking of Moran State Park are close. The only thing we could have possibly wanted was an up-to-date guidebook of the islands to use, plus a sharp paring knife (but who knows--maybe they had been there and disappeared?).
The master suite king bed and one of the queen beds upstairs were great, but a couple of the older matresses need to be replaced.
      We will definitely return!

      Wonderful Orcas getaway

Left on 03/18/2010 for a stay in November 2009

My husband and I stayed at the charming Orcas farmhouse and loved the location, intimate space and overall peacefulness being there. It is a beautiful craftsman artfully decorated. It is bright and open with wonderful water and territorial views. It is a great space for family get-togethers as there is a large kitchen and entertainment room, in addition to being close to Moran State Park and walking distance to a bakery in Olga. This was a great place to both play and relax. We plan to return again.

      Idyllic spot

Left on 02/14/2010 for a stay in August 2009

Our family of 5 will return regularly to this place. The house overlooks an open field, often with deer in the morning. Below the field the view opens to Buck Bay. We returned for Thanksgiving; the kitchen was complete enough for us to cook our holiday dinner. A short hiking trail behind the house leads along a stream and up past a waterfall. Moran State Park is a short drive away, with its lakes, trails and views. We have stayed many places on Orcas, but this is the one we will keep coming back to for its comfort, location and peacefulness.
