A Hidden Gem in Orlando / Fantastic Stay!

Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013

I was in Orlando on business and decided to stay an extra few days at Damai and have some friends meet us from out of town. We needed a place that had at least 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and in Orlando that can get very expensive, very quickly.

The readers digest version of this review is as follows: The property is great. We will stay here again in the future, without question!

The long version of this review...

We arrived at the check-in location for Damai (located off site, about a 5 minute drive) a bit early and were greeted warmly by the front desk staff. They quickly checked us in, provided our keys as well as a fob for the gate to get in. We headed over to Damai (very easy to find) and were very impressed with the exterior landscaping and overall look and feel of the community. It's easy to see that this was supposed to be a much larger development that never took off, which is great. The less people, the better!

We identified our unit and parked in our covered parking space (a must in Florida!). These units are 4 bedroom / 4 bathrooms located on 3.5 floors in a town home type setup.

You enter in through the parking area and there is a full bedroom (with flat screen TV) and full bathroom on the first floor. You take a set of stairs to get to the next level where the kitchen is. Granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances are a nice touch in this large kitchen. You take a small step up to the formal living room and dining room. The living room has two leather couches, a 42" LCD TV, front door and porch and a set of french doors with a gated balcony. The weather was beautiful in Orlando, so we kept the French doors open for the majority of our stay. Another set of stairs leads to the 3rd floor guest bedrooms as well as a split plan bathroom. These bedrooms upstairs do not have Tv's in them, which I think they need to add. Another small set of stairs leads to the washer/dryer (very nice!) and the master suite and master bath. The master suite is very nice, has a queen bed and a flat screen TV. (My only complaint here is the bed up in the master suite should really be a king!). The master bathroom is of good size and the tub and shower are separated by a large glass wall and large glass door. Very classy! The master suite also has a large walk in closet.

Outside of the town homes there is an immaculate heated pool and Jacuzzi. The pool area is very well maintained and very high end.

Wireless internet is available in each unit via a netgear wireless router connected to Brighthouse networks. Wireless service was very good! We had no issues with speed nor availability throughout all of the floors.

We stayed for 4 nights and for the most part, we didn't see very many people come and go. The area is very quiet.

There are no services within walking distance. If you want to grab food or groceries, you'll need to hop in your car. Everything is centrally located and nothing was more than a 5 or so minute drive.

We are very impressed with Damai and will be using this as our go-to lodging spot for any future trips to Orlando!

Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in January 2013

4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, garage, kitchen, wash / dry clothes, wi-fi, linen and towels, free telephone for local calls, large living room over pool, jacuzzi and gym in the complex.

Nice Place, but with concierge and check in problems!

Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in January 2013

The town home is clean, new, nice...but with too many stairs for children and old people, and the location is not very good either, far from anything, 3 or more miles from the first shooping area, impossible to go on foot. Need car. We stayed for more then 10 days and we did not meet anybody outside, the only one we met was a guy that enter our home without knocking and scared us, he said he was going inside to see if we need anything, strange!!??!?
The plca for the check in is far from the town home, what makes it not very nice, and people at the hotel where you do check in people, concierge and etc. weren't very nice either. they must improve the way they treat their guests, I bought disney tickets at the hotel, the girl said for sure I was paying less than at Disney parks, she charged 275 dollars for basic 4 days tickets, when I arrived at disney the price for 5 days basic was 268 dollars, so??!! Dont trust them!

      Great alternative Hotel

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012

This is the place that you should stay while vacationing in Disney Theme Parks during busy month like December. The place is conveniently located and have easy access to major highways and Theme Parks. The layout and the size of the condo itself is great. The rooms are big and I like the fact that every floor has its own bathroom. The only drawback is the unit is not properly clean when we check-in. We found left over food in the fridge and the floor in the basement looks dirty. You also need to buy your own cleaning supplies as they don't provided with the basic one. But overall, it is a great place to stay if you travel with 5- 7 friends/family member.

One more thing, please don't follow the written instruction from the property management to get to this place because you are most likely will get lost. Do your own research because we got lost over an hour to find this place.

Very disappointed. Our experience was very different from the o

Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Very disappointed! First, the carpets and some of the walls were filthy. The kitchen was inadequately stocked (didn’t even have pot holders), and what was there, such as a can opener, didn’t work. The welcome pack mentioned consumables, but we received no coffee or laundry soap. The dishwasher worked 50% of the time, and when it did, it groaned horribly. Every morning at least one person in our party of five took a luke warm or cold shower due to limited hot water. Two of the four bedrooms did not have a TV. In addition, the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms didn’t work because the remote was missing. The towels were limited but more were provided after requesting. There are no towels at the pool—you need to bring your own and launder as needed. There was no outdoor grill available. The exercise machines were unusable. One of the two keys we received didn’t work; luckily I was able to catch a visiting maintenance man who took care of that issue along with our living room patio doors not locking. The location is away from everything – nothing is within walking distance—and the street is very dark at night. At midnight New Years Eve there was a car load of kids lighting fireworks on the street outside our unit, which made me question security. Even though there is a gate, one can walk right around it. For the amount of money paid, this place was not worth it and dampened our vacation.

Nice, but not "Kid Friendly" :(

Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Nice quiet place, there were No channels on cable for kids (i.e Disney, CN, Toon etc.) kids were not happy with this place. Nothing in the fitness room worked (not plugged in and did not see where we could plug them in) had lots of dust like never used... Planed on making dinner a few of the days, not much at all to work with in the kitchen (Only 1 small frying pan, and 1 small pot for cooking) If you choose this place, plan on bringing your own kitchen things! Internet went in and out the whole time we were there... Other than that the house itself was very nice.. Going back to Disney in 2014 when Fantasyland opens, I will check to see if things have changed before I book it again (But, I will if so)

Elegant, Peaceful and Luxurious, wish this was my home!!

Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I have never written a review before but felt that after such an amazing holiday it was only right to share this beautiful place.

Florida is a very active, always on the go holiday which is why I tried to find somewhere tranquil for our quiet days off from the parks, but also somewhere not to far from the restaurants and shops, Damai is exactly as described and all the pictures and videos on the site are exactly what you will see on arrival.

The bedrooms are a lovely size, I stayed in the master suite which had a massive bed with a flat screen tv directly in front.
There was a massive walk in wardrobe too.
Bathroom has his and her sinks with a combined shower and bath then a separated toilet !* Very Luxurious*

Very modern living area and kitchen, has pretty much everything you need.
Lovely big TV, but don't do what I did... I rented a DVD from the blockbuster machine got back and realised there was no DVD player ooops!

There is a door from the living area (2nd floor) to go straight through the lovely gardens and out to the pool and jacuzzi area.

We had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves all holiday apart from one day!

One day the pool was unavailable due to maintenance but the sister resort *Lake Buena Vista Resort* let us use there pool for the day which was a nice change, and they have a great pirate ship there!
They told us we could use the pool whenever we wanted and even gave us vouchers for the shops and an irish bar nearby.
only 5 mins from the townhome and well worth a visit for a change of scenery.

Wireless connection was perfect to keep in touch back home on the laptop or through whatsapp to send free messages and picture messages on the phone !

Washer, dryer ironing board and iron which is very handy.
There are powerful hair dyers in every room ( wish I had known this instead of lugging around my big hair dyer which wasn't working as powerful through the adapter anyway!)

Don't forget an ipod dock to take with you to the pool :)

Ok so I am blabbing on now, basically I have nothing bad to say about this place and I wish I could live here all year round.

      some tips on places nearby:
I Hop- Friendly very tasty and cheap!!
      Longhorns- Great porterhouse steak
      Olive Garden- great italian food
Logans Roadhouse (peanut bar)- great food, drinks and atmosphere
Florida Mall- You need the whole day to go shopping!! hundreds of great shops

Thank you to Jeremy for a lovely stay!!

What a wonderful find! The location couldn't have been better, so close to Disney and all the other major attractions and yet so quiet and secluded too. The townhouse was roomy, our party of eight never felt crowded, and spotlessly clean with the exception of the stairwell which gave the impression that something horrible had occurred there. This could be remedied by replacing the carpets with the same hardwood found throughout the rest of the house. The pool and hot tub area was also very clean and tranquil. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone in good health as the climb between the four levels of living space could otherwise prove to be daunting.

I love writing reviews & was eager to write this one, but at the same time wanted to keep it a secret !! The Damai was truly amazing. Gated, fabulous, quiet area away from it all, we did see some of our neighbor's but you really do feel as though you are there all by yourself. Whenever we used the pool, we had it all to ourselves. The houses are fabulous. Under cover parking, as you enter, there is a bedroom & bathroom on the lower floor. Up a flight of stairs and you reach the huge fitted kitchen, dining and living area, dark wood flooring, modern and spacious. There is a front door on this level that leads on to a porch area, and overlooks the gardens. Up another flight of stairs, 2 more bedrooms with a shared bathroom, and up a few more stairs to the master bedroom, with a huge closet & large bathroom, there is also a huge washer dryer up here too. Close to the I-4 to get to Universal etc... although we preferred the scenic route all the way down I Drive. Disney & Kissimmee are also close by. There is a huge Wal-mart a 10min drive away to fill up the huge fridge!! There are currently 12 house in the 'street' and there is some construction work going on to build more homes close by, but this didn't affect our stay. Keys to the property are collected from Lake Buena Vista Hotel, 5mins away. Somewhere on the internet there is an address that is incorrect for this property, but the photos match. We had the incorrect address written down and drove over 20 miles away, luckily we also had our booking confirmation as well, with the correct address & finally made it there.

      Place was Fantastic

Left on 04/03/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I am reluctant to write this review - Damai was so spectacular I don't want to have other people find out about the place and take my spot when I want to rent here again!

I would not categorize my wife and I as "Disney people". We took my son there when he was 6 - and now 5 years later - our youngest is the same age and we "promised" to take her when she was of age. When we took my son we stayed at Disney - (The Lodge) - it was expensive, crowded, expensive, bland, expensive and expensive. The Damai - for a fraction of the cost - provides space, quiet, and a place to get away after the bustle of the parks. We went to Sea World, Cape Canaveral, Universal and a other places in the area - so not staying at Disney was also geographically desirable.

After 2 days at Disney and 1 day at Universal we spent the whole day at the Jacuzzi/Pool located at Damai - we had the place to ourselves for 7 hours. Towards night fall another couple joined us with their kids - it was nice to meet new people and our kids had fun playing together. I remember taking my son to the Pool at the Lodge at Disney and losing my drink twice in the span of 30 minutes to an errant kick by one of the 100's of swarming people who packed every available inch of space. We do not have a pool or jacuzzi at home - so my kids were in heaven (the parents, too)

Something to keep in mind - each unit at the Damai has a washer and dryer - our family packed 4 days of clothing for a 9 day trip (2 bags total for the 4 of us). Being able to do your own wash in house is yet another bonus of Damai.

      Better than any hotel

Left on 01/20/2012 for a stay in November 2011

Damai Orlando was great. Better than any hotel we have stayed in Orlando. Excellent value for money. Pictures on website are accurate. We will be returning.

      Highlights

      1) Location: centrally located as their webpage mentioned, it is just a short distance away from disney, seaworld, outlet malls & grocery store.

      2) Cleanliness: rooms were in order, kitchen & bathrooms were impeccably clean. Plus jacuzzi and pool were well kept.

      3) Spacious: rooms were a good size, the master bedroom was large/beautiful, the kitchen was spacious, tv area was comfortable

      4) Extras: free wifi, free parking, free use of jacuzzi and pool/ gym - even some hotels don't offer this

Would definitely recommend to family & friends. Great for groups (we were 8 people, 4 couples). Jeremy was prompt to answer all questions/concerns about property, great contact.

What a beautiful place to stay! Four bedrooms, three and a half baths, full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, hard woods in the living areas, close to everything... We loved this property! There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and not feel cramped. The pool and hot tub area are beautiful - and were empty the whole time we were there. We could not have found a better place to stay.

Damai is a clean, beautiful and tranquil community just outside

Left on 10/05/2011 for a stay in October 2011

I stayed at Damai with my family for a week and it was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time. The place is brand new and had everything we needed - hair dryers, irons, pots, dishes and the ever important wine glasses. There are bamboo, hibiscus, palm trees everywhere you look. The landscaping is so beautiful, you can't help but relax at just the sight of it all. The pool and jacuzzi area have plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. You might want to bring a small radio along with you. The gym is small, but has just about everything you need.
The location is convenient to Disney - approx 1 mile away. The Disney marketplace is about 5 minutes down the road along with plenty of restaurants and the Outlets.

This townhouse was great. Everything was brand new. We were there for 5 nights & everything went smooth. The location is a couple of miles from one of the parks. This place had everything you could ever need. Full size washer & dryer, full kitchen, pool, jacuzzi, & 3 flat screen tv's. Loved the master bedroom. Tip don't forget to get the internet wifi code when you check in at the management office. Damai is FL. best kept secret.
