Description from the owner

The croft house is situated on 20 acres of waterfront property that is under the Rural Stewardship scheme to preserve bird life. There is a bird hide on the property to observe birds up close on the pond. A children’s playpark adjacent to the croft house provides hours of play for young ones. A dedicated walk with gates at top and bottom has been developed giving easy access to the shore without having to climb over barbed wire. Secure storage for bicycles and camping and fishing gear. Luxury accommodation sleeps 2-8 people. Lovely views of Scapa Flow and the hills of Hoy. Spectacular sunsets can be seen over Stromness.

This person did not stay at Buxa Farm Chalets & Croft House. The reason I approved it is that I thought he might be one of a party under a different name. I am the owner Kathy (not Shirley) and Buxa is located 10 miles from Kirkwall. Sorry for the confusion.

      Autumn stay in Buxa farmhouse

Left on 11/27/2011 for a stay in November 2011

The house is very cozy and would be perfect with the beautiful views when the weather's wild. We however had really nice weather considering the time of the year (3rd week in Nov.).
I would have liked to play on the shute and climbing frames but since our grandbairns weren't with us, my wife wouldn't let me try it. In spit of this we had a great holiday and enjoyed our stay.

The place really enriched our experience in Orkney

Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We have a lovely time, a Scottish cottage to enhance our experience. Kitchen very well furnished, which was a bonus as I do like cooking. Kids had loads of space to play, and enjoyed the outdoor playground. We didn't have much chance to enjoy the little house that overlook one big pond for the kids to observe birds due to the weather. And location perfect as very central.
      i would highly recommend it!

      An amazing experience.

Left on 09/24/2011 for a stay in September 2011

This newly refurbished croft is in a wonderful location. The surrounding countryside is alive with birds and wildlife - this year we had visits every day from the resident short eared owl, hen harrier, hares, and a whole family of pheasants. There is a walk from the front door right down to the secluded beach where even more delights await. The croft is amazing, everything you could need is thoughfully provided. The lounge with open log fire and huge TV. The well equipped kitchen with sunlight streaming in and unsurpassed views. The cosy bedrooms (love the sheepskin rugs!) all added to our enjoyment. We are already discussing our next visit!

      Absolutely wonderful accommodation and setting.

Left on 09/19/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Absolutely wonderful accommodation and setting. The house has everything you need and has been very thoughtfully furnished - even a sheepskin rug beside the bed and underfloor heating! We spent a lot of time sitting at the kitchen table enjoying the panoramic view of the water and wildlife. The kids loved watching the ferries coming and going. We stayed on Orkney for a week but still did not see everything we could have. Will definitely be back.
