Just across the road from the lake, this charming villa has its own landing dock and row boat. You can relax in the garden, take in the magnificent views of snow-capped mountains above Lake Orta, enjoy all of the water sports available, tour the towns near the lake as well as those on Lake Maggiore, or hike/bike the many trails around. This is a perfect spot for enjoying the best that the Italian Lakes have to offer.

Glincine is a charming old villa and it was fun to experience that for a week..our 2 granddaughters loved it as they had an attic room which was huge and they loved the old feeling of the place..If the house were in a different location it would be a 10, but for us older folks it was a bit inconvenient to get to the lake...152 steps to be exact. The other minor annoyance was the local train which passed by below the house which is set high up in the hill. It went by about every half hour or so, but having said that, the house is really a lot of fun and filled with Italian charm!
Its old charm.
The trees need to be pruned so you can see the water from the house..could be fantastic views!
Loved Lago Orta! A real gem and not at all touristy like Maggiore and Lugano!

The large covered patio area upstairs, the spacious, open living room, the central location for the northern Piemonte region. Hairdryers in each bathroom were a nice amenity.
One bedroom ground floor had no closet or armoire, so nowhere for that couple to put away any of their clothing. We were not allowed to use the lift for our luggage - Why?. Toaster is not a real toaster, just a grate with a handle to put over the flame. Need more wine glasses for a property that sleeps 10. Confusion with the speaks-only-Italian housekeeper so that our towels were never exchanged for clean ones. Property should not be described as "across the road from the lake". while this may be technically correct, it raises false expectations. The property is up a winding road or 160 very steep steps from the lake, and there is virtually no view of it, although there could be if they would trim the treetops in front of the upper level patio.
The great little cheese and more! shop in Crabbia. The town of Orta, its charming shops and restaurants and the Sacre Monti. Proximity to lakes and mountains. The Alessi and Loro pIana factory outlet stores. Wonderful little off-the-beaten track restaurants Da Libero in Fornero, L'Oratorio in Stresa, Chez Felice in Macugnaga.

Children's playroom and outside loggia.
Strong local flavor. Not high season, yet. Not a lot of foreign tourists, even though quite a tourist vacation area. Near to numerous areas we wished to visit.
