    Additional Location Information

Villa Le Terrae is located in the territory of Orte, on the Eastern edge of the Tuscia Viterbese, an area dense with gentle hills and hilltop towns, at the boudary with Umbria. Extremely central and well connected, the area was traditionally an obligatory passage and crossing of the Tiber river for pilgrims and travelers heading to Rome. Once a land of adventurers and brigands, it was chosen for its untamed beauty by noble families and popes for their summer residences. Nowadays, Orte is bordered by the main Italian railroad running North-South and the main Autostrada highway, a unique and enviable location which permits the travel to most every part of Italy in short time.

    A Beautiful & Memorable Vacaction

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We enjoyed this property so much and it's lovely owners!! The grounds are beautiful and it's the perfect location to take day trips Rome, Florence, Siena, Orvieto and all of the other neigboring villages (you will need a car). I highly recommend having the amazing "Delores" cook for you, she kept us fat and happy for days. All in all, we had a wonderful time and were able to visit a part of Italy that we may not have otherwise seen. Thank you anna, Alessandra, Elisa, and Delores!!!

    Beauty everywhere you look!

Left on 09/26/2010 for a stay in May 2002

Our extended family enjoyed the terraces outdoors. The location was perfect. You needed a car to get to and from the train station. The outdoor pizza oven was a plus! We had authentic italian cooking prepared for us several times during our stay. All fresh ingredients were used. Thanks for the service. We want to go back one day.

A wondeful way to experience the hill country of Italy

Left on 08/13/2010 for a stay in April 2002

We have just booked Le Terrae for the third time! Our first visit was in 2000, and it was so great we came back again in 2002. Both times we were with one other couple. The Villa sleeps 8, so this next april there will be 4 couples. We all love to cook, and it is great fun to go to the local market and get all the wonderful spring vegetables (more kinds of artichokes in Italy than you could ever imagine!) and cook glorious meals, including fresh bread and pizza in the wood-fired oven in the back.

Le Terrae sits in the middle of an olive grove. It has been in the family of the two sisters who own it for four generations, and their love for the place shows in their care for it and for their guests.

The location is terrific. You will need a car, but places like Orvieto, Siena, Assisi, and the wonderful towns all around (we love amelia!) are all accessible and enjoyable in one day each. The little town near the Villa is Vassenello, and you can find everything you need there from day to day. It's a short drive to the larger hill town of Orte. You can park you car their and take a 45 minute train ride to Rome. Florence is two hours to the north,an easy drive or train trip.

But just driving around the countryside of Umbria and Tuscany, or just hanging out at the Villa are the best things to do. We cannot recommend this place more highly.

    Our Roman Holiday

Left on 08/08/2010 for a stay in June 2010

The villa is very unique, with three stories with windows and views that open to the Orte countryside. There is enough space to easily sleep ten. It is conviently located by a 10 minute drive from the Orte train station for 45 minute trips to Rome. For a true taste of the Italian culture, this villa comes equiped with a wonderful welcome dinner from Delores, she and her hsuband Silvio, are a wonderfully warm couple who embraced our family in the true italian way.

    Ciao,You're Family !

Left on 06/04/2010 for a stay in December 2007

If you've ever dreamed of the perfect Italian villa you owe it to yourself to stay at Le Terrae.

Picture a quaint but beautifully cared for home with flowers (yes even in December) at every turn. Imagine walking up the path to the rounded doorway that leads to a remarkably spacious and beautifully furnished interior.

Want romance and intimacy? Sit in front of the upstairs fireplace or peer out the master bedroom window overlooking the Italian countryside.

Want plenty of room for extended family (we had 8) sit around the spacious downstairs kitchen table. Plus there are comfortable sitting areas all over the house if you'd like to just sit quietly and read a book.

Want convenience? The driveway leads directly to the downstairs kitchen entrance and shopping is close by. Be sure to ask for suggestions when you arrive and don't miss the fun of going to the butcher shop.

Rome is an hour's ride to the south and the beautiful walled cities (Siena, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto, and more) of Umbria and Tuscany are easy day trips. Florence is about 2 1/2 hours and even the world's oldest independent republic, San Marino, is do-able in a day.

Want a picturesque village to get a quick snack, or an incredible meal? Vasanello is five minutes away.

Want to be greeted warmly? Anna will treat you like you are part of her family.
