2 Bedroom, Beach Front Cottage on Lake Huron (#7)

Oscoda cottage

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 5

“Great location, clean and comfortable.” I spent a weekend with friends and we all enjoyed the cottage. It was very clean and quiet. It accommodated four adults comfortably and has all the amenities in the kitchen and bathroom, complete with good tasting city water you can drink from the tap and strong water pressure. The Smart TV in the living room with wifi provided entertainment for music and movies. And there's a nice kitchen table for games and meals. In addition to the comforts, the location is really great. The cottage is beachfront and has large windows giving you a view of Lake Huron from both the living room and Kitchen. Depending on your plans for the weekend, it really is the perfect spot for a girls' weekend such as I did, or I could see bringing my family here, or booking it with another small family. I stayed during Winter, but I noticed there are some nice swings, a fire pit, and the beach for long walks to make a summer stay fun. There's also a party store across the street and a full grocery store a quick drive away. We ordered pizza one night and that was convenient too. I definitely plan to stay again and would recommend it to others.

About Oscoda, Michigan

Native Americans were the original inhabitants of Michigan and the area around Oscoda. However, towns were first set up in the 1860s. It was a center of the lumber industry and all the buildings in the original town were built of wood. But sadly, these were destroyed in the fire of 1911.

Oscoda was officially chosen as the home of Paul Bunyan. Today you can see the Lumberjacks Monument, located close to the town, which commemorates the men who contributed to Oscoda's prosperity.

In the 19th century, the wives of the Michigan miners created the pasty. Try this traditional food when you visit—it's the original convenience food! Miners would put their pasties on shovels to heat them, so they would have a warm lunch during their working day.
