What Past Guests Are Saying
Wonderful Cottage, Wonderful Location, Wonderful Stay.
My wife and I along with two friends enjoyed our third stay at the 'Old Forge Holiday Barn' in January and what a wonderful place to see the New Year in. We have stayed at this beautiful 'hide-a-way' during both summer and winter and found it delightful on each occasion.
On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Colin & Wendy the owners - a lovely couple - who generously provided us with a magnificent hamper of all sorts of 'goodies' along with a bottle of Champaign. Their many kindnesses during our stay will long be remembered.
The accommodation at the Barn was wonderful and of the highest standard, spotlessly clean and designed to ensure the utmost comfort with everything needed to make our stay just perfect!
My wife and I used the ground floor en-suite bedroom and our friends enjoyed the use of the galleried en-suite bedroom on the first floor which looked down onto the spacious kitchen, dining & living area where a cosy wood-burning stove acted as 'centre piece'.
Beautiful surroundings, many easy walks, stunning countryside and lots of lovely places to visit. The friendly local pub next door served delicious pub grub - whilst the village shop 'Kockin Shop' was conveniently situated only a 2 minute walk away.
If you want some relaxation and love to get away from the stress of life, the 'Old Forge Barn' is for you.
We look forward to staying in the Barn again soon - it was perfect for us.

Exceeded all Expectations !!
On our arrival for the first time we were met by Colin the owner of the barn. He gave us a guided tour and explained all the facilities. We were surprised and delighted by the welcome hamper that included fresh eggs, bread, apple pie and cream, wine, water and beer. All we needed for our first night of our holiday.
The reconstruction and decor in the barn is exceptional and contains everything and more that you will need for your stay. The two large bedrooms offer excellent spacious accommodation for 4 adults. The barn boasts 3 toilets (2 ensuite) and appeals to couples and families alike.
The cottage has the luxury of having 2 patio areas and a barbecue ideal for those sunny days. One of the highlights for us was watching the baby lambs in the field next door to the barn.
Colin and Wendy have a wide knowledge of the surrounding area and are always happy to give suggestions and are very approachable.
Close to the barn is a local pub called the Bradford arm's which is warm and welcoming? The pub serves a wide range of food and local beers all of which are great value for money.
The old forge holiday barn is an ideal base to explore the local area.
During our stay at the barn we visited oswestry, Chester, llangolen, Shrewsbury and ellesmere. Chester zoo is definitely worth a visit and is good value for money.
Ironbridge and museums yearly pass gave us the opportunity to come and go as we pleased; there was something of interest for all age groups. Don't miss Blitz hill!!
Liverpool is around 1 and a half hour from the barn and has wonderful attractions like the beattles experience and the duck boat tours.
This is only a few suggestions but this is also an area of picturesque beauty with wonderful canals, rolling hills and tranquil surroundings.
We will definitely return. We are now on our sixth visit to the barn. It's like our second home.
