Additional Location Information
How will you enjoy a stay in this slice of paradise?
> Whale watch and sip sun downers from one of the decks or balconies. Walker Bay is well known as one of the best, land-based sites for whale watching in the world. From June through December, Southern Right Whales calve in the Walker bay Whale Sanctuary, the marine reserve on which the villa is located. You can watch them from the decks and balconies, stroll down to a vantage point along the cliffs, or take a cruise to get really close. Humpback whales can also often be spotted.
> If a little more adrenaline is your style, Xairu is an ideal base for a Great White Shark cage diving experience. Drive out from Cape Town and grab a good night's sleep -- the shark dive boats leave early in the morning a short drive away in Kleinbaai.
> Chill out with your children. Xairu's natural fynbos garden is fully walled providing a safe place for children to play. A safe, spring-fed kiddie pool and larger, tidal pool are a short walk away to the west, and the protected, sandy beach and rock pools of Stanford's Cove a stroll to the east. Our Guest Guide suggests many nearby excursions, including to the lighthouse, a petting farm and other fun destinations.
> If you love unique flora and fauna, you'll be happy here. Xairu's garden is a natural fynbos one and the property connects to the fynbos preserve that edges the bay. Bird lovers will enjoy the feathered visitors to the garden, as well as the many different environments for watching -- from wetlands, estuaries and shore, to inland veld.
> If you like to eat and cook, you'll appreciate visiting the harbour for the day's fresh line fish, as well as the farmer's markets in the local villages. The well-equipped kitchen and braai/BBQ facilities make entertaining a pleasure. Our Guest Guide shares out local recommendations for places to eat and picnic, and there are many local vineyards for wine tasting excursions.
> Of course, Xairu is perfect for doing absolutely nothing. Whether you choose to do this lounging on the western deck, in a window seat, on the large front deck, cosied up in front of the fireplace, or in front of the TV is up to you.

Johannesburg,South AfricaOn the Rocks !

We stayed at Xairu for 3 days during april. The house is well designed and beautifully furnished. Everything you expect from a luxury beach cottage. The views are splendid and the ocean is crashing on the rocks below. Easy distance to many interesting shops and restaurants. You will not regret it. (Please note that the coast is very rocky. Not any real swimming beaches within walking distance)

Durbanville, South AfricaBreathtaking views!

We stayed in Xairu with overseas family and it was a unforgettable experience! The house is proof that modern architecture can be beautiful, functional and cosy at the same time. The house features 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a very well equipped kitchen and breath-taking sea views from every possible room! We will return in whale season so we can see them from the balconies!
The owners have created a very useful file with activities, information, restaurant idea etc which was very helpful. The town is only a short drive away and has a good supermarket and all other amenities required. There are several wine farms, restaurants and even a fantastic petting zoo/play park for the kids in the area and you can go shark cage diving if you feel adventurous. We went for a more child friendly sea excursion and saw a whale (out of season!) a school of dolphins (at least 20 of them really close!) penguins etc.
After all the excursions the house was a great safe haven of tranquillity to return to, with the soothing sea sounds and the spectacular sunsets making it an unforgettable experience!.
We had a whale of a time (yes pun intended!) and will definitely be back! -

NYCWe had a lovely time at Xairu!
Left on 02/13/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Xairu is beautiful! We stayed there in December.
After our drive from Capetown, we settled in to the gorgeous surroundings of the home, relaxed and enjoyed the views.
The rooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable, spacious and clean, as are the bathrooms.
The location is a dream. We were able to go hiking and enjoyed delicious meals at the local restaurants.
Needless to say, if not for the long plane ride, we would go back every weekend! Highly recommend a stay here...cannot go wrong!

Great house with striking modern design, fantastic location. We watched whales breaching from the house's decks, and took many walks along the cliff trail that skirts the bay. Well-equipped kitchen.
