Woodstock, OntarioRelaxing getaway!
Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We wanted a place to getaway with lots of space, scenery, and a pool, that's exactly what we got! We we're able to spend the week relaxing by the pool without being stuck with a huge crowd of people and loved it! I would highly recommend this cottage to friends and family!

This was a wonderful vacation home. If you are not interested in having a lake, this is the property for you. The home was clean, with lots of room. We vacationed with a 5 year old & a 3 year old who loved sleeping in the orange room. The kitchen was gourmet style which we took full advantage of, and the living areas offered plenty of room for reading, puzzles and games. The property was large enough to allow games of tag, soccer, and a little T-ball. The pool was consistently 82 degrees (we had a decently hot week) and clean. Not an overly large pool, but great for young kids and leisurely swims. We were close enough for little day trips to Wiarton and Owen Sound. If the house had a hot tub and satellite TV, it would rate a five. Very highly recommended you will not be disappointed. The owners have taken great care to make this a beautiful home.

Chatham Kent and Kitchener WaterlooGreat place to relax by the pool.

The grass around the pool (inside the fence) could be cut maybe 2x per week. After a couple days, the clover was flowering and getting tall and it attracted alot of bees which made it difficult for the kids at the pool. The cement immediately around the pool was very narrow, so it was a constant reminder to watch the kids don't step on the bees. Also, the grass on the outside of the pool area could have been cut. The lawn mtc men cut a couple strips around, but left everything else really tall. I believe that the owners are naturalists, but with 84 acres of trees and a lake, this part could have been kept cut to give the kids a place to run and play soccer or something. It also made the landscape look unattractive and made for more bugs. The television in the main living room blew the breaker because there were too many things plugged into the outlet. When we turned on the dvd player, it blew the breaker. When the guys went to the basement to fix it, they found black mold in the basement. That is not a pleasant thing to see when renting a cottage. We also had a bat in the house.
The cottage itself was big enough for two families to share and eat together. The beds were comfortable and all the ceiling fans made it comfortable for sleeping. The salt water pool was nice and clean. We all had a great time with only the few minor issues of grass, breakers, and a bat. We would definitely go back. The kids had a blast spending time in the pool and the week away with all their cousins. -

New York CityGreat...but could be wonderful!

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. There were just a few things that would make a big difference. The first thing is that the cottage could really use a good cleaning. It was really dusty and the floors were pretty dirty. I am imagining every family finding it a bit dirty and this sets the precedence for the level of cleanliness that they leave the cottage.
The second thing that really needs attention is the lawn. The grass had been mowed prior to our arrival, but it was a very poor job. The person obviously just mowed around the adirondack chairs in the lawn so there was high grass around the chairs and anything in the lawn, including the propane grill.
The pool was beautiful and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed it. However, there were high weeds all around the pool. It had not been trimmed at all. It looks really odd to see our pool photos with weeds all over the edges of the sidewalk.
I LOVED the floor plan and the open feel of the house. I also loved the remote location. We are from New York City and it was so nice to be in such a peaceful area.
I don't want this survey to seem very negative because we really enjoyed our stay. I just beleive that progress can only come when constructive criticism is given. Thanks again for allowing me to give feedback.
