Winnetka, IllinoisCouldn't have been better--try to stay a week
Left on 04/24/2013 for a stay in March 2013
So much thought and care has gone into creating a welcoming environment for guests, I was super-impressed! How wonderful, for example, to arrive mid-afternoon and find not only the customary (for UK) tea, sugar and fresh milk, but also a bottle of wine, loaf of bread, marmalade, butter and biscuits (cookies)--in short, everything we needed to settle in without racing out at once to the grocery store. We had a super-friendly welcome from Laura's father, Barry, who lives in another building nearby, and we enjoyed all the little details as we went--very well-equipped kitchen, including, e.g., cling film (plastic wrap), a peacock perched on our railing, excellent heat (very welcome during the cold spell) and everything sparkling clean. We did a 4-day rental of the three-bedroom lodge, which was certainly more comfortable and probably a better value than taking at least two hotel rooms (for our party of 5). Be aware that this property really gets to be a bargain if you can stay a week, which is only 200 pounds more than the 4-day rate. In addition to what there is to see in the city of Oxford and the short drive to Blenheim Palace, Oxford can be a great hub for outings to the Cotswolds, Stonehenge and Stratford. So consider making it a week and having a wonderful, Oxford-based vacation.

The log cabin was very clean, felt safe, peaceful and had all the amenities. The place looked brand new and was very well equipped. The two bedrooms are not very large but are comfortable but the master bedroom is a decent size with a lovely en-suite bathroom. Both bathrooms were, or looked, brand new. The radiators worked wonderfully especially as it was a cold December so we were thankful for that. The welcome kit was appreciated and the washing machine and dryer were absolutely essential for a week stay, thank you. If you're using a taxi to get into Oxford town, the price should be 10 GBP each way and always remind the driver that the entrance gate is before the farm sign, once they go past it they will have to go all the way round again to get back which takes about 6-7 minutes of driving. One thing, the departure time of 10am is exactly that. we had a knock on our door at exactly 9:58am for key collection and as we walked down the stairs at just after 10am the cleaner walked up. I am a very punctual person so I had no problem with that. On the whole a lovely place and I would certainly stay again.

Kota Kinabalu, MalaysiaLovely Stay Very Satisfied
Left on 12/25/2012 for a stay in December 2012
We arrived around 7pm on 4 Dec after an 18 hour direct flight from Malaysia Kuala Lumpur & was greeted by Barry. He walk us thru the cottage, showed us all the necessary appliances & even bought some food like bread, butter, milk, jam, biscuits, juice etc which was really nice :). The night was cold & it even snowed :) Children love the coziness of the place & we had no problem sleeping despite we had the cottage closes to entrance & main road. We cooked, did our laundry & dried it too. The cottage was also decorated with Xmas trees & decorations...Lovely. It really make us feel at home. There was Wifi & on 2nd day we had some connection issue but was solved quickly by Barry, I also met Barry's wife along with their cute dog. I also want to thank Laura, Barry & family for allowing us to use their mailing address to receive a mail for our Paris booking. Cheers to all of you for being such a wonderful host. Definitely if we come back to Oxford we will stay here again...Take care & Thank you so much :)

186273Memorable week spent at Cherbridge
Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Stayed here at Easter week with my wife, two children and my mother. The accommodation is really fantastic. Spotless, spacious, Nordic lodges in a lovely setting overlooking the River Cherwell. Barry is a fantastic host, friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. We spent the week in the Oxford area. There is so much to see and do. Cherbridge gives you the best of town and country living, as you feel like you are in a very rural location but actually are on the edge of Oxford city. You can walk from here over the fields to the pub in Old Marston.
I would heartily recommend this place to anyone, and will have many fond memories of my time here. -

We had a lovely fortnight at Cherbridge Cottages. The cottages where very spacious and warm and the owners very friendly. We really enjoyed the visits from the squirrels, peacocks, ducks and geese throughout the day! Very clean and quiet - photos were representative of the cottage so weren't disappointed. Felt we got good value for money.

NewcastleCosy, comfy, lovely in every way
Left on 12/04/2011 for a stay in December 2011
I'm a very fussy person but even I couldn't find fault here! The logde was very well decorated with everything you could need for a self catering stay and it was cosy and comfortable. Lovely welcome food hamper - bread, milk, butter, eggs, tea, coffee etc so you don't need to immediately rush out to the shops.
It's setoff the main a40 ring road so there is a bit of road noise but not so loud as to keep you awake at night. However, taxi's seem to have a job finding the place despite giving detailed instructions andthe post code but I think this says more about the ineffectiveness of taxi drivers than anything else. Word of warning though- a couple of taxis tried to rip us off with fares so make sure you get a quote when you book.
Despite this we had a lovely stay and would come back again. -

The accomodations are well kept and very clean. Barry, our host, was very gracious and very friendly. For those who are not limiting the visit to Oxford but would also like to explore the countryside, the location is excellent. It also works for Oxford visitors who prefer not to stay in Oxford. The location is also close to Summertown and Kidlington (where there is a large supermarket). A final thought, be sure to look for the peacock while you are threre.

Colorado Springs, ColoradoA Fantastic Stay, Great Price, Excellent Location
Left on 06/29/2011 for a stay in June 2011
I reserved 2 lodges for 10 days, comfortably sleeping 12 people. What a terrific stay we had. Unlike another location that friends stayed at, our lodges were very well equipped with excellent appliances, comfortable beds, good linens, and a well equipped kitchen. In fact, the kitchen was sufficient for me to make an impromptu dinner for 30 people (using paper plates) without any difficulties. Our lodge looked out across a well maintained garden and onto a small stream and pastures. The lodges have easy parking and are fenced from the main road, making it safe for kids to run around. The lodge is 10 minutes from the center of Oxford and an easy 90min drive from Heathrow. I also reserved their small cottage which sleeps 4 and is fully equipped for an extended stay. The lodges cost significantly less than B&Bs; and with the kitchens, we were able to save a lot of money by preparing our own meals. You'll find Laura and her family charming and very hospitable.
If you're visiting the Oxford area for more than a few days, I can't recommend Cherbridge Cottages highly enough. Stay here and I assure you that you'll be very comfortable. -

Burnham on CrouchLuxurious accommodation just outside Oxford
Left on 05/22/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed in one of the Riverside Lodges for 4 nights in May and loved every minute of it. The interior space is beautifully decorated, and feels really special and luxurious! The bedrooms were superb- the beds were large with good mattresses and plenty of pillows, and the linens were really fresh and soft! We slept better than we do at home! The bathrooms were modern and clean, and we were provided with lots of good quality towels and robes which was a nice touch. It was also great to have an ensuite as well as a family bathroom. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, and we even received a welcome pack on arrival with wine, bread, eggs, butter, milk and marmalade! This was really thoughtful, and it meant that we didn't have to rush right out and buy food for the next morning.
We used the Lodge as a base to get into Oxford, which worked really well as it is just a short drive into the centre of town, but we would say that having a car is definitely necessary. It is located just off of a main road and it is not possible to walk into town, which I would say is the property's only disadvantage. Once you are through the gates however, you don't really even notice the road, and the gardens that lead down to the river are lovely.
The owners were very charming and helpful, and even provided a cot and high chair at no extra charge for our 6 month old baby, which was much appreciated. We really felt welcome and at home, and will definitely be returning in the near future!
