We require a $600 refundable security deposit to secure your reservation. Entire payment due 4 weeks before arrival. If a cancellation occurs less than 30 days before scheduled date of arrival, security deposit is forfeited. Cancellations 3 weeks before forfeit 1/4 of rental fee; cancellations 2 weeks before forfeit 1/2 rental fee; cancellations 7 days or less forfeit entire lodging fee.
We accept checks and credit card payment via pay pal. Deposits must be completed via Pay Pal. International reservations require rental payment via Pay Pal. (A 3% Paypal processing fee will be added.)

We enjoyed our time at the beach shack. It was a very unique place to stay. The check in was easy and the house was easy to find. The kids loved the sleeping alcoves and the kitchen and utensils made cooking and eating "in" better than going out. We did try breakfast at Mrs Olson's and would recommend the experience. If you see a lot of people waiting for breakfast don't worry...the line goes really quickly. The beach was clean and very uncrowded. The only drawback at the beach was the sand crabs that surfaced as the waves came in and receded...one of my sons was scared of them and didn't want to go in the water. There were alot of them. Overall we loved our stay and would return.

We travelled from Uk to stay with friends in USa and rented this accomodation for 3 days. Mon - Wed. Got told someone would be there for when we arrived to hand keys over etc. They knew what time we were arriving and when we got there the cleaners were just about to leave and lock up. We had to find the office to get the keys off someone as no-one was there to meet us. Upon entering the accomodation we noticed that there was chewing gum still stuck on the door into the bedroom/lounge area. Note: There are no curtains in the upstairs of this property so when you get dressed no privacy and also when you have been sleeping there once the sun comes up its light in the room so if you have kids they are awake early!! The barbeque was absolutely disgusting - you could not risk cooking anything on there as you would have ended up being seriously ill. Also there was broken glass at the back of the property - which was hazardous. We rang and informed the rental company about the bbq as we had brought food to have that evening and they said they would sort it. The day passed and the next day we had to ring the agents again for the property - someone did come down and clean the bbq but by this time it was too late for us to eat lunch. Also the sofa bed did not work and it mentioned a massage chair in the booklet inside the property - we couldnt find it !! At the end of the stay we took the keys back to the rental company and informed them for the amount of money that had been paid we were disappointed. They informed us that they would see about a refund and they rang Mrs Wakeman whilst we were there and the leasing company informed her about us being disappointed and we stated that we would also ring Mrs Wakeman (Owner) direct and this we did about 20mins after leaving the rental office. We got no reply and left a message asking her to contact us, then we rang again the next day as she had not been in contact and left another message - still no response and to this date June 3rd 2012 no response has been received from Mrs Wakeman. Customer service is poor. Personally not happy. Mrs Wakeman a response would be appreciated about the problems we experienced!

We have received no less than 5 stars from all of our guests who left reviews. One of the reasons is that we place customer service highest on our priority list; we have a permanent Property Manager/Concierge 5 minutes' walk from the property. We offer the courtesy of trying to meet guests at the property but if guests arrive a little early or do not call to give an exact check in time all they need to do is call our Property Manager/Concierge Kristina Brooks and she will meet them. We have since replaced the bbq so it is brand new. The cleaning company is one we are no longer using; they should have removed the gum,checked the bbq and checked the back for any broken glass or any other hazards. The sofa bed is not part of our lodging offerings so the guests should not have tried to use it as a bed. We have since removed the massage chair; it is not advertised on our websites. Again a quick call to our Property Manager would have cleared up the misunderstanding about the massage chair. I was not contacted by this guest; they only spoke to our Property Manager and all their concerns were met. We happily refunded them $50 for the inconvenience of the bbq grill which we feel is more than fair. It is clear from the photos on all of our websites that there are no curtains in the upstairs; however none are needed as there is complete privacy on the second floor. Changing clothes can also be done in the bathroom on the second floor. We certainly are disappointed that these guests were less than satisfied with their stay but if they had informed our Property Manager/Concierge when they felt something was unsatisfactory, all their concerns would have been addressed immediately instead of them waiting until they left to complain and ask for a refund, which again we happily gave to them.

We liked the house , especially the second floor for our Girls.

We enjoyed our stay at Hollywood Beach Shack. Loved the proximity to the beach. We are big fans of Seafresh restaurant and loved being able to walk there.
Had a leaky toilet one night that ran down through the ceiling and was upset that the property manager said she couldn't get any one until the next day. Told her they had to come that night because water was running down walls and into kitchen. She was able to get someone there that night.
Would stay here again. -

I stayed here with three family members and we had a wonderful time. The house is a real landmark, and is decorated in a fun and unusual way. Much to love about that house! We also loved the proximity to the beach and harbor, and especially to Mrs. Olson's for breakfast! I've never stayed in Oxnard before, and really loved the quiet, unhurried feeling there. So fun! Looking forward to returning...

Our group included Mom's and teenage girls who spent a wonderful week at the beach house in Oxnard. What attracted me to the house first were the pictures of the interior and furnishing/decorations. They did not dissapoint in person. Talk about cool. This house is cool. The adults loved it and the teenage girls loved it more. Note, the upstairs area is perfect for kids, but it is a steep stairway and that should be considered for anyone with climbing limitations.
It's across from the beach which was perfect. Location near Ms. Olson's coffee hut made cooking breakfasts and lunch a choice. The kitchen is nicely updated and there was everything you could want or need for cooking meals. The house was very clean and our check-in and out were easy. We definitley had a fantastic time there and would love to go back again. Highly reccommend this beach house rental. -

Spent ten days here in early august, with my wife and our three teenagers, and my sister-in-law and her two teenagers. We fit perfectly, and gave the large upstairs bedroom and full bathroom entirely to the teens. We had great meals on the barbecue, and swam every day (I was up at dawn to begin each day with a quick dip). the Malibu beaches are barely 45 minutes to the south, and Santa Barbara an hour to the north. Within two days we were all completely relaxed. The house is indeed a rustic beach shack on the outside, but has every modern convenience inside. The beach is clean and there are no crowds. Oxnard has everything you need. Highly, highly recommended by all of us.

I stayed at the Hollywood Beach Shack in July, 2011. It was a perfect place for 4 women to retreat. We took full advantage of the beach that was litterally 20 steps away. We loved the "quirky" design of the house and all of the decor. For the price for a week and splitting the cost 4 ways, it was a total bargain. Do stop in at Mrs. Olsen's Cafe as they tell you to. You will not be disappointed.

I was looking for a nice beach house in the Port Hueneme or Ventura, southern California area, that would serve as the setting for our family reunion. My husband and I were flying in from Virginia, so I was a bit nervous about reserving something sight unseen. After finding the Hollywood Beach Shack on the internet and communicating with the wonderful owner, I ended up reserving it for our very special weekend. The realtor was easy to find, as was the HBS, which was right down the street. The HBS was sooo much nicer than the photos I had seen. It was large enough to accommodate four of us and have an early Thanksgiving family reunion dinner for about 12 people. The HBS was so comfortable, and only steps away from the beach where we all enjoyed a beautiful sunset after our meal. The HBS had everything we needed, and its unique decor warrants special mention. We felt like we made the perfect decision on choosing such a special location. My family and I came away with special memories that we won't soon forget. We hope to visit the Hollywood Beach Shack another year very soon! Our very special thanks to the Wakemans for allowing us to share the HBS experience!

We were looking for a beachhouse to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Hollywood Beach Shack was the the only one that didn't have a 3 night minimum stay + it was very reasonably priced. The beach access was great! The shack itself was really cute, comfy, and funky. Had a great time! Would definitely go back!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in this fabulous beach house with plenty of room for the whole family. Perfect location with a direct view to the Pacific Ocean. The house itself was clean and well equipped with all modern facilities. Szu was always very polite, and though we travelled from Europe we experienced no problems with the check-in procedure. On the day of departure, we were allowed to postpone the check-out time. Highly recommendable.

I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at this lovely house. In a world of sterile modern cookie cutter houses, it was amazing to stay at this beautiful, unique and historic house built when Hollywood was young. I went there to get some writing done and every day was inspired. I would sit in the upstairs room with a view of the ocean and my laptop and the fresh ocean air would make me feel so good. The owners did a number of tasteful updates to the house that added to the charm. I cooked some delicious meals in the giant kitchen. Most everything I needed was in walking distance including some very nice restaurants. Most importantly every day I would spend time on the beach which during the week was tranquil and uncrowded. Also, let me add if you have kids, the interesting architecture filled with little nooks and crannies for them to hide or sleep will seem like a magical castle to them. A wonderful place!
