The Best View on the Island

This is a great house and has one of the best views on the island. It's easy to find and just a short distance to the beach and Mr Busby's. The house is set up well and the furnishings are updated and very well maintained. The only downside is the pool sets off to the side and you don't get the view from the pool like you do at a lot of the other villas on the island. This was our 13 year and third time at Majestic View. Lower two rooms are perfect if you have a couple or two with a small children and others in the group do not. It allows the family to get some private space and still be part of the group.

The name of this house is 100% accurate. The view is outstanding and waking up to it everyday was a complete joy! If you rent this villa you will want a four wheel drive as the hill to climb getting to it isn't for the faint of heart! The folks at the security gates were always friendly and prompt.
The house was nicely equipped, but it left a few things to be desired. The oven in the main house didn't function and no effort was made to repair it during our stay even though it was noted that it didn't function. On arrival, it was as though we surprised someone by just showing up - there was no one there and the house was clean, but the pool, porches, etc. were all rather dirty. Bathroom towels had a musty odor. The pool had clearly not been serviced in a little while. During the week we were there we had maid service 4 days. We were quoted "daily maid service" - never happened.
If you are a group of people going, the layout is odd. The home was build as the main floor originally being a residence, and the lower level being a rental apartment for another family. It's never been changed. Not all of the first floor bedrooms have their own bath. Two king rooms and a set of doubles on the first floor. The doubles and one king share a bath. The lower level is another rather dated kitchen with two ensuite bedrooms. There is no access to the lower level from the main floor> access is through the outside, around the pool, raining or not! It worked out ok for us, but it should have been noted that not everyone would have their own baths. They did allow us to use another bath on the lower level as well as the aged oven on that floor, but it was far from convenient or expected.
Again, it's about the view. This hillside overlooking the Oyster Pond is dotted with other options. This is a nice home, fairly well maintained, but not ready when we arrived for occupancy. They did get people there fairly fast to work on the pool, etc.
