This impressive large villa with 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths sits high atop the hillside overlooking Oyster Pond, Dutch St. Maarten. It is designed in a Mediterranean style elegance that can be matched by few. All 4 bedrooms have a private bathroom and air-conditioning. The master suite also offers a large rain shower. TorontoBeautiful Villa - Needs some minor updates adn would be perfect!
Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed at la Grand Vigie villa from January 17th-24th/2012. We were a group of 8 people and overall we had a fantastic time. The pool was quite cool and would be nicer if it was heated just a bit, but day trips to the beaches where the water is a little warmer is certainly an option. Simpson Bay is a little tricky to find but definately worth the search.
To say that the hill to the villa is "steep" is an understatement - we had rented 2 cars and the 2nd car got stuck part way up and some of our group had to walk up the mountain-we laughed so hard...but once we offloaded all of the luggage, although the car struggled we always made it up after that first time.
One point that we would like to mention is that the advertising for this villa mentions that maid service is included and Juliette was a wonderful lady who took very good care of us...however we were confused to find documentation in the house that suggested a $150.00 tip and implied that she was not paid by the owner for her services and relied solely on the tip...I hope that this is not the case...
One warning that we would like to offer is that there is some kind of club very close to the villa which is blasting music all night until about 6:30am every morning...ridiculous..but as long as you are not a light sleeper it is tolerable but certainly not ideal. Especially if you are someone that prefers to sleep with the windows open instead of using air conditioning.
The villa is just as it looks in the photos-the kitchen is well equiped. Lots of windows to open and get beautiful breezes through the house.

We took a day trip to anguilla which was amazing - breathtaking beaches!!
Although a good coat of paint is needed in a few areas of the villa to "freshen" it up, I can honestly say that we all enjoyed our stay, we alway felt safe and would definately recommend this villa.
We had our dinner catered one night by "Fabulous Feasts" we highly recommend them...the food was delicious and we were made to feel like the "Rich & Famous" for one night.
