After a one year absence, the four of us returned to La Mirella for nine days in November, 2012. Our escort met us, as scheduled, at the car rental site and we patiently waited through traffic until we arrived at Grand Marche for groceries and then on the the villa. As we remembered, the villa is spotless and the views are breathtaking. The housekeeper always arrives at about the same time and is never too busy to stop for a chat or to leave you to go about your preferred daily routine. The pool keeper arrived Monday and Thursday but was gone within a one half hour. Grounds maintenance occurred once during our visit but he was gone within two hours. We spent most of our time in the pool, besdie the pool or taking in the view of anguilla, Orient Beach, Oyster Pond, St. Barth's and the ocean. Although we had no need this year, we know that we can contact the property agent, ReMax and have any issues attended to the same day. When we returned the cellular telephone and the keys, we were warmly greeted by anju and her staff. La Mirella is a wonderful vacation retreat for two people of for as many as 8 (four bedrooms each with onsuite bath). There is another site for Trip advisor reviews for this villa but I think the reviewer must have stayed at a different villa to where we stayed in 2011 and 2012! You will not find better!
We only have one complaint - the mosquitoes are plentiful and voracious. My wife came home with many large red wetls. This is not a unique problem with La Mirella. It is a common island problem. Prepare yourself! -

Our visit to La Mirella, with another couple in November, 2011, was nearly perfect. The villa is perched high on a hillside overlooking Oyster Pond on the Dutch side of the island.
An escort met us at the car rental company and guided us to the villa, even making a brief stop to buy essential groceries for the first few days. The escort reviewed some of the facilities at the villa and how to use the security gate with a hand-held push button. There were a few things we had to find ourselves and then use the equipment manuals for (e.g. how to unlock cook top burners).
The view is 180 degrees from anguilla to the north all the way around to St. Barth's on the south. From sunrise to sunset, there is always a view. The water of the Pond and the ocean changes with the natural lighting.
Wherever you sit, whether it is the porch overlooking the Pond, the living room or the patio around the pool, we could always find a breeze, sunshine for tanning or shade for reading, depending on our preference. The kitchen was easy to use so we always had our breakfasts and snacks plus half of our dinners in the villa. We used the propane BBQ at the pool for hot dogs one night and even entertained two other couples with BBQ chicken another night. Laundry facilities are onsite so we had very little clothing to pack and everything was clean before we left which meant we had little laundry to do when we got home. We quickly got used to seeing everyone else in the same attire day after day.
We went out for dinner four nights and the biggest problem was trying to narrow down the many options of location and menu, many of which are minutes from La Mirella.
The local property manager, Island Properties, provided the escort and was very responsive to the small issues we raised. They are minutes from the villa so we paid them a visit and were warmly welcomed by the staff.
The housekeeper arrived about 10 am every day, except the weekend, to clean the entire villa. She went about her business and completed her work in about two hours. She stopped to chat, if you wanted to strike up a conversation but otherwise looked after her work. The pool is attended to twice a week and takes less than an hour. A gardener showed up once to cut the lawn with a gasoline-powered, hand-held grass trimmer and then cleared the clippings with a gasoline-powered blower.
Overall, La Mirella is a great place for a vacation that provides a gorgeous view, flexibility in eating and relaxation as well as privacy for swimming, tanning or simply passing the time.
