We really enjoyed our stay in Pagosa Springs. April and Tor Hessman had an amazing rental full of all the necessities. They had a fully furnished kitchen, including extra spices we would need. The bathroom had extra soaps, toothbrushes, and other supplies. April was always willing to help out or give guidance on ski rental places. And the banana bread was amazing! We definitely will be going back there and staying in the future!

Excellent communication from property owners regarding planning of vacation. The home was beautiful; we all loved the updated features, decor, and furniture. It was nice to have 2 living areas...one for the kids and one for the adults. Kitchen stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals. Fantastic gas range and beautiful freezer fridge combo. Great to be greeted with a bottle of good wine and amazing homemade banana bread. Very "homey" feel. Easy access to laundry areas. Garage stocked with bikes and outdoor equipment. Location was great; easy to get to town and to the ski area. Downsides; only one bathroom (located downstairs); hot tub directly in front of property owner's home windows (felt like we would be invading personal space and disturbing of properrty owners by using late at night).
Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. -

We had an awesome time in pagosa, the snow was amazing! Coming "home" after a long cold day on the slopes here was great. The house was comfotable and clean, april has provided alot of extras to make the stay perfect and the hot tub was the cherry on top. We loved it!
The only small tiny complaint were the beds are a little firm -

Our expectations were exceeded with this property.
Owners were very friendly and gracious. They really went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The house was extremely clean and had every amenity you could ask for.

We just stayed 5 nights here and wish it could have been longer. I came in with high expectations after reading these reviews, and it still exceeded them all. The owners really have an eye for detail, and you'd be hard pressed to find anything negative about this place. April was always there anytime we had a question, with a smile and plenty of patience.
The kitchen is so well stocked, I was inspired to cook many of our meals instead of eating out. The bathroom came with every toiletry I could think of. And the grocery store is only half a mile away! The upstairs living area is so big, our kids had friends over to play Wii up there (they have a Wii!). The upstairs has a king bed, the downstairs has 2 queen bedrooms, but the only bathroom is downstairs, so we used the downstairs as our master.
My only tip is that you may want to bring robes and slippers for the walk to the hot tub...you have to walk halfway around the house to get there.
The place truly feels brand new! All around, a great experience, and cheaper / bigger than most of the hotel/cabins in the area! -

The rental is extremely well stocked and we stayed there with 2 adults and 3 children. With three bedrooms and a loft we had plenty of space for all of us and then some. We were welcomed by april on or arrival day. All of us fell in love with the home baked Banana Bread! April had decorated the rental with Christmas decorations and there was a Christmas tree in the loft. The rental address is right around the corner from a small shopping center with a City Market. Wolf Creek Ski area is definitely a wonderful ski area for families with kids and there too everyone was very friendly. I can definitely recommend anyone to book this rental for a stay in summer or winter. We have already booked our next stay with april and Tor!

We had a great stay at the alpine Mountain Getaway! April was very friendly and her prompt responses to all of my questions definately played a huge factor on choosing this townhome for our stay! It was very spacious for 8 people, the only thing I was worried about before renting was that there was only one bathroom however we did not run into any problems and never ran out of hot water. They provide more than your regular amenities, and more than I ever expected! They have a fully stocked kitchen with spices, she also bakes some delicious banana bread as well as leaves fruit and coffee and tea service. April also went above and beyond to help us get discounted tickets to the Hot Springs, as well as offered to set us up on a Snowmobile trip with someone she knew, but unfortunately we could not fit the snow mobile into our schedule. Great place to stay, very accommodating owners and assure you we will be back to visit!

The duplex is absolutely beautiful. April is very accommodating and so hospitable. This is a really neat family who welcome you into their home, make super yummy banana bread for you and give you a bottle of wine. I had a fabulous time in their home and the hot tub gives you views of the beautiful bright stars. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is thinking about it!!! And Pagosa Springs is a very beautiful mountainous town with lots to do and see.

From the first email about reservations to the last email after our stay it was by far the best rental we have done. April is great, the place is clean, easy, beautiful, well equipped and the list goes on. April takes time on the little things. Wine and banana bread. Condiments are such a plus. Just not having to carry or purchase salt & pepper and other spices is so nice. It is close to town but quiet. Gr store just blocks away. The beds are fabulous. Plenty of pillows/blankets. I left my phone on the bed when we left, noticed it missing 4 hrs. later. Gave a quick call to april and she had it in the mail that day with my deposit check. I can't say enough good things to describe our experience with alpine Mountain Getaway. We will be staying here again on our next visit to Pagosa Springs. Thanks again april and Thor

Our stay was very enjoyable. April & Tor are gracious hosts, and the home-made banana bread was the best we have had. There were a lot of extras--fruit, spices, coffee, tea, Dvds, games, washer/dryer, etc. The furnishings are upscale and comfortable and the decorating accents very nice. The home is in a neighborhood, not far from stores and restaurants. We enjoyed the flowers and lovely lawn. The lack of a good view and a rather busy street in front were the only drawbacks.

We really enjoyed our stay in the condo/home. Everything was spotless and welcoming, and we appreciated the flexibility of the owner. The best qualities about staying here is that the kitchen is totally equipped (with pots, food processor and spices) as well as the bathroom. The bread and wine were nice touches.

This is a very cute condo that met our needs nicely for the most part, although it was a bit more residential than we would have liked. To be fair, April, the owner, did tell us it was a residential location. We had a bit of a privacy issue since it was very hot and the windows needed to be opened for air circulation and they faced out onto the main street. The place was well supplied and the owners were very nice and accommodating. Location was close to shopping and only about 5 minutes from downtown Pagosa. We appreciated the $50 card which could not only be used for gas, but groceries as well!

The Hessmans have thought of everything and provided for every contingency. Extra toiletries, towels, books, Wii games and wonderful fruit and homemade, delicious, nut-free banana bread! Kitchen is very well equipped (even a coffee bean grinder!) All the beds were in excellent condition, and linens were also wonderful. Condo is on the west side of town but close to lots of restaurants, groceries, etc. About a 5-7 minute drive to get to "official" hot springs. There is only one full bathroom but this was not a problem for the four of us.

April and Tor were very gracious hosts. The townhome was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. It has all the amenities of home. The location of the townhome makes it very easy to get to restaurants, the grocery store, and downtown Pagosa Springs. We would definitely stay here again.

This property is in tremendous condition. It is an architecturally unique layout with just the right amount of space. The colored concrete heated floors and whole-house warming fireplace are just the ticket for comfort after a day on the slopes. Best of all, the property has upscale furnishings (some hand-made) and amazingly comfortable beds. This place makes me want to move to Pagosa Springs.

We stayed here with another family while on a skiing trip to Wolf Creek. We had 4 adults and 4 kids. Not only was the rental beautiful, clean and spacious, but it was a great setup for families. We were able to relax in the hot tub after a long day on the slopes and enjoy the comfy warmth of the fire inside. Tor and april were so helpful and accomodating. It is also close to restuarants, shops and the hot springs. We had a wonderful time and will definately stay here on our next trip to Pagosa Springs.

I can't say enough nice things about our hosts and their lovely town home. It appears new and is very nicely decorated. April was there to greet us with a warm smile and quick tour of the property and had left an excellent loaf of home-made banana bread as well. We've stayed in a number of privately owned vacation properties and this one had the most amenities of any place we've stayed. April has thought of everything you might need during your stay - spices, sugar, flour, plastic wrap, baggies, even band-aids! There is not one thing we needed that wasn't already there - all we had to bring was our food and drinks. If available, we will definitely book this property on subsequent trips to Pagosa and would highly recommend it to friends and family. Thanks april and Tor for opening your home to us and being such wonderful hosts!
P.S. If visiting during the summer months, they even provide bicycles for your use! -

This was a wonderful vacation for my family. The house was perfect for our family of four. Everyone had their own space, with room in between. The grocery story, shops, ice skating, horseback riding, sleigh riding and the hot springs were minutes away. We truly were impressed with how well the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms were so well stocked with simple comforts such as additional blankets, pillows, spices, pans, trash bags, electrical appliances and toiletries. We were very appreciative of the thoughtfulness provided by april in the form of delicious banana bread, and wine.

Originally we had planned to stay at a hotel in town but since we have a 3 1/2 year old and one on the way, we figured the condo would give a little more room to move around. We arrived at the condo during the day and april and Tor were outside to greet us and show us around. Upon arriving april had made fresh banana bread which was absolutely delicious. The condo is attached to the Hessman's home which was nice since they are extremely knowledgeable about the area. The condo is located near several restaurants and a grocery store. The condo is well furnished, nicely decorated and exceptionally clean! The bonus for us was having a fully equipped kitchen stocked with spices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit and more. Upstairs in the family room area are movies, games and a Nintendo Wii which we had a blast playing in the evenings. They have several bikes and sleds available to use in the garage. We took advantage of using the sleds one afternoon in the San Juan National forest which was s blast! If I had to say something negative it would be that there is only one bathroom but I still give it a 5 star rating. Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and will plan on staying here again when visiting Pagosa Springs.

In all of our travels I have never seen a condo with so many amenities. The kitchen was so well stocked, from frying pans to kettles to coffee filters and did I mentioned all the spices, flour and sugar etc. This is truly a home away from home.
All you have to do in this condo is just bring yourself. If you run out of clean clothes there is a washer and dryer with amble amount of detergent. The townhouse is mother-in-law clean and the furniture is wonderful and comfortable. There are two flat screen Tv's with one of them being about 55 inches. There is also a Wii game to keep you entertained. A hot tub is in the back yard for use. There are just to many amenities to be mentioned. April and Tor are the best hosts we have encountered, they will go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. We would go out of our way to stay with them again.

The townhouse was welcoming and warm. We had great fun cooking in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed the bottle of wine with our dinner. The kids used the bikes and tubes for a day of fun in Pagosa. Everything about our stay was peaceful and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

What a treat to stay at the alpine Getaway. The place looks brand new and has so many extras that made us feel pampered. The attention to detail by the owners and their friendliness to answer any questions about the area or help as needed was a wonderful bonus. Examples of the extras are tubes for tubing down the San Juan, bikes, kitchen with spices, fruit, coffees, wine, banana bread, hot tub, trampoline, wii games, and hammock are just the start of the list. This place is a real gem.

This perfect "Getaway" was absolutely wonderful. The hospitality, the environment, the affordability, and the the overall relaxing atmosphere made our two night stay so enjoyable. There was something for everyone. Our grandchildren enjoyed their new friend. Our children enjoyed the fishing and the inner-tubing. My husband enjoyed his bike rides. I enjoyed having the conveniences of home and still having the rest and relaxation of being away from our busy world. At the end of our busy days, we relaxed in the hot tub. It was aboslutely amazing. Thank you april, Tor, and family for your wonderful "Getaway." We look forward to staying with you guys again in the future.

We were traveling with a 17 month old and arrived at the townhouse later than we had previously told april. Her family came out to greet us when we arrived and were very welcoming and friendly. The place was spotless and very comfortable; it felt like you were staying with friends instead of in a rental. Wish we could have stayed longer; would recommend this place and would stay there again. Thanks april & Tor!

This was a great vacation home to stay in while visiting Pagosa Springs. The house was clean, the kitchen well stocked, and there were even bicycles for our use if we liked! April had delicious homemade banana bread and fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived. We had a great time and hope to return in the future.

Being a college student my budget was tight, but staying in beautiful Pagosa Springs, thanks to april and Tor, really proved to cost effective and one of the best vacations ever. Close to lots of dining and a super market, we were able to save some money and prepare our own meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Traveling to the ski slopes was an easy drive, and each day we returned to comfy beds that seemed brand new. Very clean, and affordable. I would recommended the hospitality of april and Tor to anyone! Thank you again!

I spent four days at this home and it truly is a home, it had everything I ever needed. Its beautifully furnished, clean beyond all of my expectations and the hot tub was amazing. Of course the interiors is well designed and cabinets had everything I need to cook in, watch the big screeen televisions and of course the bikes were a nice touch. I can't recommend this home or the Hessmans highly enough---if you are in the area, rent this place and meet Tor and april!

April and Tor did a great job decorating and setting up the getaway. It felt so warm and comfortable, it was like walking into home. The queen size beds were great it was like sleeping in your own bed. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to cook your own meals. April and Tor had coffee, tea, hot chocolate for your use. The washer and dryer were great. We are looking forward to staying there again next year.
