The Black Sand Beach rental is a fully furnished condo situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean, adjacent to the most well known black sand beach in the world, Punaluu Black Sand Beach. It is a Polynesian style bungalow located in 'old Hawaii', away from it all. A true Hawaiian getaway!
One bedroom, one bath condo can sleep up to 4 people. Amenities include washer & dryer, full kitchen, linens provided and free parking. Shared salt water pool and lava rock hot tub overlook the ocean.

Punaluu Black Sand Beach is located on the southern end of the 'big island' of Hawaii. Hawaii is the largest island of the Hawaiian chain and offers a wide variety of activities.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a 30 minute drive from the condo. The park offers spectacular viewing of the active volcano both day and night. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has lots of hiking trails, and amazing sites to see such as steam vents, lava tubes, and occasionally hot molten lava!
The most Southern Point in the USA is 23 miles away, offering the most spectacular views and a Green Sand Beach!
The Black Sand Beach rental is located between Kona and Hilo, making day trips to either side of the island's attractions easily assessable. Hilo is a 1:15 drive and Kona is about 1:45.
Thermal tide pools, for the more daring, are approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away.

nothing else to say : perfect place, perfect condo, clean, pretty, with everything you may need and more, the most sweetest bed, quiet place, just across the beach and the turttles. For our next stay in Hawaii, I just hope stay here again.

The condo is in great condition, the location is remote yet absolutely beautiful, the black sand beach where we actually saw 3 giant turtles in a tide pool, is only a 10 minute walk away. The shared facilities (pool, BBQ, hot tub) are also in great shape and everyone we met was very friendly. Communication and handling was quick, pleasant and super easy.
This is the perfect location to spend relaxing days with no hassle, at night (and also during the day) all you hear is the ocean - and the strong wind. It's also great to explore Volcanies National Park.
It is remote, though. Kona is a 2 hours drive away, Hilo 1 hour. -

I kept going back and forth between four and five stars, but in the end I settled on four. Overall I would stay here again, and I have already recommended it to friends and relatives. I would go on and on about all the things that were great about the condo, the quiet, the cleanliness, the location, the comfort, but I when I come to Tripadvisor, I'm looking for a true critique not a love fest.
First, in the bedroom, the curtains were a little thin for my taste. At night it was very bright thanks to the pathway lights that are a few feet from the window. It definitely gave it a tropical feel, just at the expense privacy.
Second, and this is just nitpicking, was the kitchen. Functional wise I have absolutely nothing bad to say. It had every appliance you could want, with all the utensils, pots, and pans of a fully furnished home. My only real complaint here was that they set the bar so high with the rest of the condo, that the kitchen was honestly just a little ho-hum. Sounds stupid I know but like I said nitpicking.
Finally, the wifi. I don't know if the wifi is provided by this unit directly, or if it's the entire complex, but either way it was pretty pitiful. I was using my time in the peaceful south end of the big island to write, and I need the internet for research. Most of the time I was subjected to using my phone's hotspot, due to the fact that I was constantly being booted, and when I was connected it was slower than the old 56k that I used in middle school.
Other than those three things, this is an amazing find. -

We stayed here for 3 nights inn late March 2012. We had a one bedroom with a sofa bed for our daughter. These condos are off the beaten path which was perfect for us. They were very close to the black sand beach so we spent a lot of time just walking and observing the turtles. Also quick drive to the volcanoe area and not that much further to spend the day in Hilo. The condo was very nice (especially the shower) and had everything we needed. Only concern was just sheer curtains in bedroom meant no privacy to parking lot.

This place was the perfect base for our south point and volcano adventures. We wanted to stay closer to the beach than the jungle. This place is a cute little 1 bedroom condo with secluded ocean views. It looks just like the pictures and is very comfortable. Andrew made reservations and check-in easy.
Situated on a golf course and a 5 minute walk to the black sand beach. I swam and snorkeled there everyday. Swam and saw so many green turtles I can't even count. Great way to start the day every morning with a new swim in the ocean with the turtles.
Condo outlined local tourist attractions and places to eat.
One downside which is not of the condo but the P'au area is that dining choices are minimal. There is not much choice is places to eat, drink or even get gas. Its not like Kona. Nice that the condo had a full kitchen and cookware which we used. The restaurants in town and market are all with 100 yards of the the Realtor's office we picked up the keys. Uou might want to stock up before heading out to the condo.

First of all...the condo is exactly as shown - beautiful, "beachy feel",
comfortable...made us feel right at home!
The black beach by the condo was breathtaking! We truly enjoyed our daily walks there. Meditation on some of the big rocks was surreal. The huge turtles were a plus. They always looked so peaceful resting.
Loved the local area too! Your book inside the condo was perfect! We could read on each "local attraction" and the local eateries - instead of driving into Kona! Well done!
We will always come back here! Keep us a spot available!

We booked the condo for 3 nights - the owner was available and really helpful. The condo was clean with all the amenities needed. It's a walking distance from the black sand beach were the sea turtles go to rest during the day. It is about 30 min drive from the volcano. Go at night to see the glow at the Jagger museum.
This condo is a great value if you want to visit this part of the island including the volcano!

Loved our morning walks to the black beach - truly enjoyed the turtle watching daily! They love that sunshine! Golf was a plus as well...even with me driving the golf cart.
Loved the local food - great little town!

Your condo is exactly how you described it! I loved all the slate flooring- and the opened shower area was cool!!
We loved the tropical evening breeze at nighttime, enjoyed our mornings on the lanai, and the evenings in the hot tub!
The local places recommended were tops! We felt so much at home here. The condo has everything you need on a visit! We even visited the local farmers market for our fruit and veggies- great for grilling!!
We will certainly return - to this special unit!!
