The cottage is built 80years ago as an assistant manager's house during sugar cane plantation period in Pahala. The current owner renovated and very well maintenanced. Local artist craft and paint are placed in house.

Pahala is 52miles out of Hilo, Big Island. 22miles to Volcano national park. Best place to stay if you wish to explore the Volcano National Park in the night. Nearest beach is Punalu'u black sand beach where 10min drive. Also, Punalu'u has golf course, Sea Mountain Golf Course, too. Pahala is nice and cozy country of Ka'u district. There is post office, bank and stores in town.

Got very good advance info of local conditions, facilities and tourist spots, even driving directions. This was important for me coming all the way from Finland. On my request the owners arranged for me a contact with a ukulele player for a few lessons, which was great.
There are lots of interesting spots to visit - volcano, art village, coffee plantation, beach and hot spring - just a short drive away.
The house is peaceful, and in beautiful condition. It has all the modern equipment. Rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable. The big living-dining room opens through glass doors to a patio and garden. I liked the wooden floors and the overall well-kept feeling. The bed was good!
