First, the owner's phone was disconnected on the day we had arrived. So we had to locate the owner by asking around and then going to a pizza place to find her. She was not surprised neither felt any need to sorry. I almost felt like we need to be sorry disturbing her at her other work place.
Then the room - it was awful! Dirty, with fungi growing wildly on a shower curtain, with smelly couch and no table in a room, with an outdoors garbage bin overfilled for days (housekeeping is included...). I had to take the curtain down and away from the room. The bathroom carpets were not better and followed the curtain. Even after removing those two sources of wet stink it was very unpleasant to take a shower there. The toilet paper run out after three days and was never replaced. No stocks. The guy who cleans the place sometimes - did not show up, so we had to just buy some toilet paper.
In a kitchen, their gas stove was not connected to a gas and there was no table.
The door lock - only my partner was able to make it work.
Ah, and the pool! Have you seen "pool" on the list of amenities? It's a community pool one block down the road on the opposite side on the street. If you go to the Pikeke Suite - they even give you a picture of this pool.
The owner advertises different rooms of the Island Paradise Inn under different names: Anthurium Suite, Pikeke Suite, Ginger Suite, Blue Dolphin Suite, Orchide Suite, Pearly Shell Suite... I bet they all are at a similar condition, but it's easier to manage with bad reviews. It's like to have many names for the same property. I actually booked The Pikeke Suite but got the anthurium. The place actually once had about 20 rooms, but now many of them are just filled with broken furniture and not even locked. Looking for the owner, I stepped into one of them - OMG!
Bottom line - don't ruin your vacation. It's worth paying another couple of $$ per night but enjoy the stay.
