One thousand square foot, totally private cottage located on a five acre gated property. It's french doors open the entire inside space to an Ohia forest with a beautiful array of flowers and orchids just outside.This allows for the most incredible breezes.
If solitude and serenity is what your after this is the place for you.
Easy ocean access nearby, just minutes to the Tidal ponds and thermally heated Warm pond.
Just eight miles east from Pahoa Town.

The cottage is located 28 miles from the Hilo airport.
Located in Kapoho right off Junction 132/137 and KBC Rd.
In a 450 year old lava flow in a forest of Ohia trees and a pretty much un touched flora.
The surrounding area has 83 five acre farm lots, mostly wooded. And fairly secuded but easy access to the ocean and ponds near by.

Aloha! We stayed a month in this delightful, clean cottage in a very rural setting. It's safe, nicely appointed, and the owner is very gracious and accommodating.
The cottage itself is basically one large room - kitchen, dining, living and bedroom (bathroom is separate, of course) - and very spacious. We were a bit concerned that the bed might not be comfortable for such a long stay, but it was perfect (king size and not too soft). A real treat are the 9, very tall glass french doors on two sides of the building. We never closed them! If the air got a bit warm, the five overhead fans added a nice breeze. Loved the geckos on the walls, too...very friendly, but keep to themselves quite nicely.
I love flowers, so the driveway from the gate to the cottage is absolutely a delight. Bromeliads of all sizes, shapes, colors. Orchids everywhere! Plumbago, Bougainvillea, Hibiscus and even a stand of Rosemary for the kitchen :) A vase of a dozen anthuriums inside greeted us and were replaced after two weeks. Several pots of blooming orchids were placed inside on the dining table, entry-way table, and bathroom. Nice touch!
About a 2 mile drive away is state park with a very large 'warm pond'...about 90 degrees. The ocean is one one side of this lava lined salt-water swimming area and underground geo-thermal springs heat the water. It's large, safe and never seemed too crowded. Rose, (cottage owner) provides 'noodles' for the water, lawn chairs, snorkel gear and a cooler. We never took them out of our vehicle as we went every day to swim.
If you appreciate being in a quiet, rural place which is not touristy, then this would be a perfect place for you. Get connected with nature and enjoy the 'aloha' spirit at this nice property.
