Come to Paradise for our Volcanic Vacation Special - luxuriate in our romantic artist's cottage surrounded by tropical foliage on the sunny Puna Peninsula south of Hilo, all for $75/nt or $500/wk! This destination is loaded with volcanic features - from viewing the lava from the Kilauea Volcano which flows down to the ocean just 10-15 miles south of the cottage, hiking through the extinct craters and lava tubes up at Volcanoes Ntl Park, to luxuriating in nearby natural hot ponds and steam baths, snorkeling in lava rock tidepools, or diving into the waves to swim with dolphins or watch passing whales at spectacular Kehena black sand beach.

It's a comfortable one-bedroom with a brand new Queen-sized bed, designed with artistic flair, fully tiled throughout the house as well as on the screened-in lanai.

Imagine savoring your favorite morning beverage or tropical breakfast on the lanai as the rising sun's orange light soothes you with warm Aloha. Then travel less than a mile down the road to Kehena Beach where you may sunbathe on the fine, black sand or frolic with the resident pod of dolphins. Our neighbor, renowned dolphin expert Naia Rae Fox offers guided dolphin swims at half price to our guests!

Pack Hawaiian treats and a picnic lunch from one of the many popular farmer's markets in our area before making the short drive to Volcanoes National Park, the soothing hot pond at Ahalanui State Park where geothermal springs heat the waters to nearly 90 degrees, or to snorkel among a teeming rainbow of tropical fish in the Kapoho tidepools, a Marine Conservation area.

In Hilo Town, enjoy the fine restaurants, entertainment, cultural events and shopping opportunities afforded by this 2nd largest city in the Hawaiian islands. Just north of Hilo, explore mystical rainforests to view magical waterfalls and the breathtaking Botanical Gardens.

Enjoy a Hawaiian Lomi or aqua massage at neighboring Kalani cultural center (special discounts to our guests) which also offers an Olympic swimming pool, sauna, yoga, Pilates and other rejuvenating practices.

Dine at nearby Kalapana Village Cafe or Kalani's buffet restaurant or roadside cafe, or in one of the variety of ethnic restaurants and health food bars in Pahoa Town, just 13 miles away. The Sea View cottage is called "Hale Haumea," for the Earth Mother, Hawaiian Goddess Haumea, who protects the new land created by her daughter Pele's lava. A private home-away-from home in lovely Kalapana Seaview Estates, a beautiful neighborhood with its own community Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. There are 2 driveways, so parking is not an issue. The cottage is only one mile north of Kehena black sand beach and one mile south of Kalani Oceanside Resort, where you can partake in yoga and cultural activities and enjoy their pool and spa facilities. Warm ocean ponds are 8 miles away, and Pahoa Town 13 miles away, and Hilo (the 2nd largest city in Hawaii) is 38 miles away. Hawaii's #1 tourist attraction, Volcanoes Ntl Park is also nearby.

  The photos don't do this lovely cottage justice. We stayed for a month and didn't want to leave! Everything you need it right there. Very relaxing and comfortable; just what we needed. We enjoyed the various farmers' markets in the area. The fruits and veggies don't come any fresher. Black sand beaches, warm pools, whales and dolphins were our entertainment. Hale Haumea Cottage is located in a beautiful place. When we weren't sightseeing, I was sewing in the screened in area. It was perfect. The neighbors and very nice too. Diane is a very generous landlord. Mahalo!

  Your cottage is a breath of pure fresh air. We enjoyed our stay so much! When we pulled up to your place we couldn't stop grinning at each other. It's the best place we have ever stayed (pictures don't capture it's charm and essence). There is not one thing we would change! (other than us living there all the time) The bed was so comfortable. We loved lying in bed and looking up into the night sky.
  
  We never used the air conditioner, no need with the ceiling fans in every room. Lots of towels, bathroom products, dishes, pots and pans, TV, books and etc. The people in the community were so nice. We enjoyed the market at Space (delicious food and wonderful fresh fruit and veggies) the tidal pools, beaches, restaurants in Pahoa and Lilikoi jam (brought some home). We wished we had more time there as the days flew past.
  
  We can't wait to return to your cottage. Booking with you was a pleasure and I will gladly recommend you to all of our friends.

  An Inspirational Vacation

  Wow - we never expected our trip to the Big Island to be so exciting! Lava started flowing again into the ocean just prior to our arrival (Pele had taken a break for several months and Kilauea Volcano was not spewing lava down the mountain). We were taken on a guided hike at sunset and between the flow of the lava creating fireworks and the billions of stars above us, it was breathtaking.
  
  The days were also wonderful, from swimming on a black-sand beach with others brave enough to go bare, to snorkeling in a warm pond with two large and one baby turtle, to meeting the author of The Chakra Diaries for a yoga class at Kalani Oceanside Retreat Center, and visiting three fabulous waterfalls in the Hilo area.
  
  My husband loved the aqua massage he got from the owner's friend (at a great discount) and I loved my lomi massage - my skin is still soft from the coconut oil. The cottage had everything we needed to feel comfortable and right at home, but the people we met probably made the trip for us - from the owner and her friends, they made sure we didn't miss one special site or event happening nearby.
