Maui by the Sea is a beautiful vacation rental - an ideal ocean-view cottage located between Paia and Hookipa, on Maui's scenic and exciting North Shore. Our two-story plantation-style cottage has gorgeous views of a sapphire ocean with dancing waves. Simply sit back and relax on the private covered lanai and enjoy the view!

TROPICAL AMBIANCE WITH ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME!

The 500 sq.feet air-conditioned apartment is upstairs (downstairs is the open garage), surrounded by a lovely Hawaiian tropical garden with bamboos, palm trees, gingers, heliconias and fruit trees. The ins...ide is cozy and elegant. A separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed, full bath, and full kitchen complement the layout.

THE OCEAN IS YOUR FRONT YARD.

From the Guest cottage you look over the roof of the Owner’s house to the ocean. Access to the ocean is limited by the Owner’s home. However, an intimate oceanfront sitting area has been arranged for Guests staying at the Maui by the Sea Cottage.

Walk out into the front yard, and watch surfers enjoying the beautiful blue waves! Maui by the Sea's property is located right on the ocean, fronting a popular local surf break. The entertainment never stops!

Your cottage is 150 feet from the ocean. (Access to the water is possible but there is no beach in front of the property; it is a rocky shoreline). A sandy beach is 200 yards from the cottage with access for windsurfing, surfing and snorkeling; or if you wish, just sunbathing on the golden sand.

A short drive down the coast takes you to Baldwin Beach, the nicest beach on Maui's North Shore with long long stretches of white sand, crystal clear water, lifeguards, pavilions, and showers.

Maui by the Sea is a great vacation rental for beach and water sports lovers, with a great ambiance and location. It is the perfect place for your honeymoon! The ocean is at the door, the beach is a short walk away, and Paia, the coolest little town in Maui is very near. Kahului Airport is only ten miles away from our little heaven, and many of Maui's most popular attractions are within easy reach.

With 12 years of experience, Maui By The Sea has always operated under a legal County of Maui permit and our current permit is valid through 2021.

BE CAUTIOUS WHEN YOU CHOOSE A COTTAGE

The County of Maui requires that Vacation rentals and B&B;'s obtain a permit for legal operation. Illegal operators are currently being contacted and serious enforcement and closure of non-permitted cottages will begin January 1, 2013. Then recovery of advanced payments will potentially be difficult for the renter. Legal operations will have their permit number on the first page of their website.Read more

Additional Location Information

The cottage is located 0.7 miles from Paia. Paia is the cutest little town with about 12 restaurants. There is also a beach at walking distance.

DISCLOSURE:
Maui by the Sea Cottage sits off of Hana Highway (it is not a 'highway' as mainlanders understand it, it is a 2 lane road). There can at times be excessive road noise. However, we have good insulation and have added air conditioning to minimize the problem. There will be no refund given due to this situation.

A 13.42% tax is added to the nightly rate. Rate above is before tax. There is a 10% discount for 30 days or more.
Reservation deposit is $400, balance is due 60 days before arrival.
Minimum stay is 7 nights unless it fits in between two bookings. Cleaning fee is $50 when less than 7 nights.
Payments by US check, if a Canadian check, indicate US funds. If paying by credit card or Paypal (with debit/credit card), the following transaction fees apply: 5% for Visa/Mastercard/Discover/ American Express and foreign credit cards. No fee if paying with "Paypal balance or bank account". International wire transfer fee $10/transaction.
(We would like to explain the credit card fee. You may not know that, besides the interest you are charged, credit card companies also take a percentage of each transaction from the amount we receive.
Instead of hiding this addition in our nightly rate we have chosen to be up front with you and show it clearly, giving you the option to pay by check, wire transfer, money order or the bank transfer option on PayPal saving you the fee if you choose so.)

  We had a very nice stay at this cottage. It is professionally run by a nice woman and in an easy location. It is private and has a decent view of the ocean. The bed is very comfortable.
  The cottage is located right on the highway, as are most of the homes along that stretch, which was noticably noisy in the morning however it didnt interfer with our sleep. We were gone mostly during the day.
  We would stay here again.

  Steve and I had the pleasure of staying here Oct 1 to Oct 8 2012 and we found this to be one of our favourite rentals ever. We were welcomed with a lovely fruit basket and banana bread and beautiful view of the ocean. The sunsets here are to die for. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and they are very helpful without being intrusive. The rental is well appointed and there is nothing we found lacking. The internet worked great and hardly watched TV but it was a new one and great selection of channels. The rental is gated for extra security.
  The bed is very comfortable and even though we were close to the Hana Highway the sleep quiality is great! The bathroom is large and the shower pressure is great. The towels are great and the beach towels are new.
  The BBQ works great and the supplies are awesome. Also lots of spices in kitchen as well.
  The Lanai is too die for and you can sit down on the bank of the property and watch surfers and Stand up paddle boarders as well as an amazing sunset.
  We jogged to Paia most days. It is really close but for some the walk may be a bit far. It is about a 6 min jog..
  The drive to Hale akala is about an hour and you are close to the airport and Lahaina and Kihei

  My husband and I had a wonderful time at your place. Pumpkin was a delight to have around for company. The place was well equiped, very clean and we felt very at home staying there. We only wished we stayed longer. The view was exceptional and you as owner were very friendly and accomodating. We highly recommend this to our friends and family and hope to come back again some time soon.

  My wife and I were looking to relax and enjoy some peaceful time on Maui this was a very good spot. The Cottage was lovely and well equipped including most cooking supplies. There is a nice porch with a view to the Ocean and Valerie was very gracious in offering us to sit and relax in her backyard directly on the Bluff. Good parking and a place for washing up Kite/Surf gear underneath. Almost walking distance to Paia - the only drawback I can think of is that the property is on the main road. It is quiet at night but morning 'rush' hour traffic will be heard if you leave the windows open in back.

  We had a wonderful time in Maui and Valerie was an extremely gracious host. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting down by the ocean. However, being that this lovely little cottage is right on the Hana Hwy, it can be very noisy at times. If noise is not a factor for you, then this cottage is a good choice.
