What Past Guests Are Saying
Perfect family stay in relaxed atmosphere
Our family (2 adults + 2 teenage kids) stayed a week at Kalani Kai Ohana. We had been looking for a well maintained and modern house with garden + pool, close to Maui´s North Shore - and we were glad that we´ve found it.
We enjoyed the privacy of the pool and the terrasse overlooking the garden and the Ocean. The house has two bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, TV, Sonos sound system, BBQ (Weber), etc... The pictures and the video on flipkey give a good impression of the real atmosphere.
The next small beach is a 5-minute walk. We spent most days (wind-) surfing at the legendary Hookipa beach (5 min by car) or at Baldwin beach. At the house you will find beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for the kids.
We especially liked the bohemian surf town of Paia (5-10 min walk) with Mana Foods (fruits and vegetables tasted heavenly), nice restaurants, cafes, art galeries etc. We very much prefered the gorgeous house and the laid back atmosphere of Paia over Maui´s fancy Wailea & Lahaina hotels.
Mike, the owner, lives next door. He was a great host and a perfect source of recommendations what to do on the island. He would be available if any issues or questions came up (which was not the case for us). The communication prior to our rental and the financials were perfectly organized.
We left Maui to spend one more week on the beautiful garden island of Kauai, but Kalani Kai Ohana on Maui remained our favorite place. We will come back.
We spent a week here and had an amazing time. The owner couldn't have been nicer and the house is wonderful. Everything and more that you need plus a great location. Walking distance to the beach and Paia. Plus the pool in fantastic!

Luxurious Private Maui Home with Private Swimming Pool
We spent a wonderful week at this amazing house. A truly special experience. The expansive and private grounds allowed for peaceful lounging by the pool. The house is spacious and well equipped providing us with all the necessities. The beds were very comfortable which was great after a long day of exploring the island. The use of beach towels, beach chairs, boggie boards, noodles and coolers were perfect for trips to the beach.
The hustle and bustle of quaint downtown Paia only a few minutes walk from the property offers many restaurants, cafes and shops including an organic grocery store which meet everyone's needs.
We found that the location was perfect for a less touristy experience of Maui. A short drive from the Kahului airport makes the arrival at the property nice after a long flight.
The owner Mike was such a gracious host, always available to assist in answering questions, providing suggestions and share his knowledge of the island.
All in all, we can't wait to plan our next trip to Maui to stay at Kalani Kai Ohana!!

The most wonderful place in the world...
The most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The house is amazing, and the grounds are paradise. Mike is a great guy and wonderful host. The beach is a minute walk away and was never crowded. Sea turtles swim and play there. The town of Paia is wonderful...Something for everyone. If I had one complaint,it would be that I'm still not there..Thank you Mike.
We have been to Maui many times and this was our first time staying in Paia. We loved it! The house was so close to town...we took turns walking and using the mopeds we rented. The house was perfect for 2 couples. Mike answered all of our questions, gave helpful tips on car rentals and restaurants and was one of the nicest people on the island. I loved his dogs Sushi and Hoku too. They were the highlight of my morning run. The house had everything we needed as well. And the pool was a perfect 84 degrees! We are looking forward to a future stay. Although our tans are fading, our memories will last forever! Sincerely, Nick and Lisa
Relaxing stay at a beautiful place...
The Kalani Kai Ohana is an excellent find... The house is well designed and appointed, the owner of the property is respectful of privacy and has wonderful taste. The location is very private, it has a security gate so I felt like "Magnum pi" returning to my ritzy beach pad minus the mustache and 308 (Ferrari). The beach is a short walk from "the pad" and is safe for taking a dip. It's a sandy beach so you can flop around like a "monk seal" without being pestered, they too enjoy this side of Maui. The quaint town of Paia is a 1/2 mile or so along a stretch of Hana Hwy which sees some traffic during commute times. My co-workers and I are musician's and audio people, we very much appreciated having a music system of decent quality and reliable Internet which provided us with fresh music which is akin to fresh air and clean water to us. While out on the Lani enjoying the view or a meal is was possible to catch the rumble of an occasional "un-corked" Harley or the whine of a fire truck's siren as it raced to help someone in need, the station is 1/4 mile away, this was never an issue. Really any type of distracting sound good or bad always catches the attention of "audio people" perhaps most would not note the report in their report.
If your one that also appreciates good architecture, landscape design, a well appointed kitchen, a wonderful bed, showers that are an experience, the sounds of palm fronds meshing together as the wind blows, you'll find this an especially nice retreat. The materials used have integrity the and swimming pool, outdoor lighting, everything really is done well, this place is worth the investment. I'd like to return again, perhaps with a Goatee and a Maserati next time?
A Beautifully Secluded Home That Can't Be Fully appreciated Thro
I recently stayed at Kalani Kai Ohana from May 2nd-12th with my wife and my parents. My wife and I stayed at the Paia Inn last august in Maui and wanted a little more room and privacy. This residence is not easily compared with others in Paia! Here are some of the reasons why: 1) From the residence you cannot see another house or neighbors. 2) It is oceanview with a great 2nd level outdoor area. 3) It is a 2 minute walk to Tavares Bay which has a nice sandy beach area 4) It is in close proximity to Paia, even walking distance. 5) Mike, the owner, is extremely accommodating, but not intrusive and very knowledgeable about everything Maui related. 6) It has a private pool. 7) The grounds are beautifully covered with vegetation which pictures can't do justice. 8) It is a great area for kiteboarders, windsurfers, and surfers. 9) The house was the original home of Mike and the set-up is perfect (outdoor grill area, outdoor shower, pool, open-living, etc.) 10) My wife and I are in our 30's, my parents in their 60's and we definitely have different activity lifestyles and interests, but this location was described as "perfect" by all of us. I am almost hesitant to rave about Kalani Kai Ohana because I can't wait to come back and I fear availability will be an issue in the future, but I think this hidden gem is a place that needs to be recognized.
Best Place I've Stayed on Maui
We had the greatest time staying here. I've been to Maui a lot of times and usually stay in the Wailea area in condos. This time we wanted to try a house with a pool in a less touristy area. This place fits that bill perfectly. we stayed for two weeks with four adults and two kids and it couldn't have been any better. The location is great. Paia (5-10 minute walk or 3 minute drive) is a cool town to spend time, with way better food and shopping than Wailea. Make sure you eat at Mamas Fish House and Milagros) For us, Paia was a much more authentic island experience. It is close to Kahalui (5-10 minute drive) and all the major stores and the airport. It's also right by the beach (<5 min walk). The house was really nice, very well maintained. The site pictures are accurate. The pool was by far the best feature for us. We hung out in the pool most afternoons and both the kids and adults loved it. There's nothing like having you own private pool. The place was recently expanded into a 3 bedroom unit with the third bedroom detached from the house. I initially thought being detached from the main house may be an issue but in the end it was really nice and quiet with a nice bathroom steps away. We also spent time at the beach and it was really nice to have beach chairs, towels, toys and an umbrella provided. David and Mike were very helpful during the lead up to the rental with quick replies to my many questions and all the way through to the end of the vacation. Very professional process and rental. I've used Tripadvisor for about 5 rentals now and this was the smoothest so far. This place is fantastic and I highly recommend it for families.

Perfect Stay on Maui's North Shore
We stayed in Kalani Kai Ohana for a week with our two young kids (8 and 10 years old). The house offers outstanding location and amnenities.
Very tastefully decorated with gorgeous landscaping and a beautiful swimming pool, it has the perfect setting for a peaceful hawaiian retreat but, at the same time, is ideally located to visit the whole island. The nearby town of Paia is very close and presents a nice alternative to the resort towns of the West and South shores.
Mike, the owner, is very welcoming and has in-depth knowledge of Maui. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend this house!

Great place for family vacation
If you are looking for a great place to stay to escape all the people this is it! Our three young children had a great time playing in the pool and having all the freedom to run in the beautifully landscaped yard. I would gladly recommend this place to stay to anyone I know that will be visiting Maui.
Very relaxing stay.
Oh so nice. The house was comfortable to stay in for sleeping and cooking and overall relaxing.Very clean and family friendly w/t.v and video and games...not to mention the secluded property w/pool.Mike was more than awesome as he helped us at every turn answering our questions, etc.Close to town too.Wonderful!!
I come to Maui 1-2x a year for the past several years (5+). I have stayed at the fancy hotels, rented bigger homes, and stayed at places like Mama's Fish House. We can stay anywhere and Kalani Kai Ohana is our favorite. The place is super clean, has beautiful views, an awesome private pool, a fantastic location (close walk to Paia) and is still private and secluded. The main room is big enough to hang with friends and cook dinner. The pool is private, warm and fantastic. We stayed with our 20 month old son and it was awesome to be able to walk to Paia for eating and shopping, and have the beach be a 2 minute walk in front of the property.
The view from the house is fantastic (the ocean view is really a full ocean view) and we loved this place. I love to kitesurf and Paia is an awesome town to use as home base. The hosts were also super nice. They immediately helped with all of the random questions that we had as we got settled in. For our small family this place is truly a gem in Maui and Paia. Highly recommended.
The only problem is that you might not want to leave the house.
I am difficult to please, but this house exceeded my expectation. Every thing that all the other visitors said such as manicure yard, sparkling pool, gourmet kitchen, and fabulous view is true. My twenty two year old son didn't want to leave the house because of the sound system and my daughter because of the pool. The private road toward the house looks like a Kinkade painting. Mike, the owner was warm, kind, and respectful of our privacy. Every day before coming to clean the pool, he would check with us. Stay here, you would love it but be ware because once you leave you'll became nostalgic!
Perfectly Placed Paradise in Paia
We spent almost 2 glorious weeks at this fabulous location in Feb 2011. We were looking for a peaceful base for our Maui vacation and Kalani Kai Ohana was perfect for us.
We wanted to avoid the more "touristy" areas of Maui but still be well placed to tour the island and found that Paia met this requirement perfectly. Paia is a great place to chill, have great food, sample some unique shops and meet some great characters. It's also a fabulous base and is particularly well placed for trips to Haleakala, Upcountry Maui and the road to Hana. The Ohana is situated just a 10 minute walk/2 minute drive away from the town centre, in a peaceful location up a private driveway with gated entrance. It is also just a short stroll to the closest beach.
The entire living space is on the 2nd floor, with wooden steps leading up to a generously sized lanai. This has gives you a great overlook of your private, heated pool, exquisite gardens and also the ocean. In the distance can be seen the mountains of West Maui (some incredible sunsets!). Inside is a large living area with an open-plan, well appointed kitchen at the back and a seating area at the front. The dining area is also in this room, as well as a large flatscreen TV with CD & DVD. One nice touch is the ability to plug your own media player into the hi-fi. Another nice techie-touch, the house has a good wifi signal, which is free for you to use. There is a large master bedroom with en-suite shower room and a smaller second bedroom and additional shower room, making this a perfect location for a couple or small family. There is also very generous storage/closet space and a European style washer and dryer.
We don't know when we'll be able to make a return visit to Maui but Kalani Kai Ohana will be our first choice when we do.
Lovely Kalani Kai Ohana
Our family stayed at the 2 bedroom Kalani Kai Ohana in Paia, Maui in March 2011. We were looking to explore the North Shore and get out of the condo strip down in Kihei. This property was everything we could hope for. Tastefully furnished, modern kitchen, beautiful landscaping, private, yet with a nice open feeling as you gazed onto the breaking surf in the distance from the windows. Although not beachside, a lovely small sandy beach was within a 5 minute walk along a quiet road along the water. It rained the first 3 days but we didn't feel cooped up at all (mind you 3 days of Hawaii rain is always going to be way nicer than 3 days of BC coast rain!). The host, Mike, was very helpful, yet discreet (he lived on the other side of the 20' hedge separating the properties). The private pool was definitely a bonus and the kids had a great time playing in the water. There were some nice conveniences such as pool / beach toys and beach seats etc. Mike went out of his way to provide an inflatable mattress as an extra bed for our toddler too. The town of Paia is a 2 min drive down the Hana Highway and the very beautiful Baldwin Beach (with a baby/kid friendly lagoon) was a 5 min drive. I would have no hesitation recommending this lovely vacation rental to my friends/family.

Our stay at Kalani Kai Ohana was wonderful. The owners were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Paia is a great town and only a takes a min to get into town. Paia is a cute town with boutiques, surf shops and restaurants. House is a located with a short walk to an awesome beach. From the house you have amazing views of the ocean and grounds are beautiful - well manicure and pool was a great addition for after beach relaxing.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, well appointed home. It was a perfect getaway for us; offering quiet privacy, great ocean views, lovely grounds/pool, and short walks to a great beach and the fun town of Paia. Having the owners nearby provided us with great service and fun local advice. Mahalo Kalani Kai Ohana!

No Ka Oi !!
Kalani Kai Ohana is in a word, Outstanding! I have traveled to Maui numerous times and spent significant time over the years on the Big Island and have yet to find accomodations outside of the over-priced resorts that even come close to Kalani Kai Ohana. The grounds are amazing and the location is ideal-- walking distance to local Kuau beach and an easy trip into Paia. Everything about Kalani Kai Ohana is relaxing, refreshing, and a perfect island getaway. This trip was with a couple of friends and I will be back with my daughters. I will also be passing along this recommendation to my family and friends.

Beautiful, Quiet Comfort-- A Walk from the Heart of Paia Town
After travelling 15 hours we were so pleased to arrive at this beautiful private house, equipped with all the comforts of home. We have stayed in many aesthetically-pleasing rental properties only to discover the basic tools and simple comforts missing. We enjoyed the excellent and well-equipped kitchen, the outdoor grill, the sound system, and the extremely well-manicured grounds surrounding the pool and home. The close proximity to the town of Paia afforded us both privacy and the ability to be be part of the action! Additionally, the location was perfect as almost every part of the island was accessible within a 1 hour drive due to its central location. The people, the beaches, and the culture were a perfect compliment to this relaxing home.
Everything we dreamed of at Kalani Kai Ohana and in Maui
My husband and I spent our two week honeymoon at Kalani Kai Ohana and our stay left us with a lifetime of memories beginning with the beautiful property and departing with the beauty of Maui calling us to return. The property is absolutely first rate. I am very particular in my travel accomodations and can assure future guests that one will be thrilled with the house - high end/sleek yet comfortable; the propery owner - super helpful (for example text us one morning to check out the surfers on a day with high waves - a great Maui experience) yet discreet; Paia - an easy walk from the house with fun shops and restaurants; and Maui itself - stunning.
Here are our highlights - hanging out by the pool at the house; walking from the house to the beach - the beauty of that short walk says it all; Mama's Fish House - expensive but some of the best food you'll ever taste and the setting is picture perfect; driving around Maui - Maui is smaller than one thinks so getting to the various cities is easy and fun; road to Hana and up around the west side of Maui - drive is hard with all the narrow switchbacks but we are glad we did it; whale watching in Lahaina and right off the beach by the house; Pollis Mexican restaurant and shopping in Makawao; day trip to Pearl Harbor - easy cheap flight and Pearl Harbor is a must do.
My parents joined us for the last part of the trip as a 50th wedding anniversary celebration adding to the memories and fun. The house easily accomodated four people with separate "suites" on either side of the house for privacy.
Maui was truly a trip of a lifetime. We had never been to Hawaii and the beauty of the property and Maui itself is difficult to capture in words.
We will one day return to Maui and Kalani Kai Ohana to recapture the magic! Mahalo Kalani Kai Ohana!
Response from David (manager) - 01/03/2011
Ann and Larry, Thank you for your wonderful comments! I am glad that we were able to be a part of your first trip to Hawaii and your honeymoon! I hope we will see you again...
What a great place!
Paia and Kalani Kai Ohana turned out to be one of the best vacation finds we've had- and we've been all over the world! We loved the town and the more relaxed atmosphere and how easy it was to see the whole island with Paia as our home base. Mike was always available to answer questions but not the least bit intrusive. Making the arrangements was uncomplicated and communication with both Mike and David was easy and efficient.
Looking forward to our return visit!
This is a beautiful vacation house nestled in between palm trees that seem to sway all the time. Views from the front balcony of the pool area and the ocean surf beyond are breathtaking. One day we even had a rainbow to add more beauty to the view. The house has every amenity you could desire. It is very clean and a comfortable place to lay your head at night. Paia town is a short distance walk or drive, and it has great shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. It is also a good central location to base yourself to explore the island. The beach located just down the driveway is rocky, but still a great place to enjoy the sun and surf. The pool was a favorite spot for the whole family to swim laps or just relax. Mike provided excellent advice on his favorite beaches and restaurants in the area. We look forward to a return visit.
Fantastic Private Escape, Great alternative to a Resort
Kalani Kia Ohana is a fantastic 2 bed/2 bath (showers only, no tub) cottage with an amazing private pool. The cottage is elevated to the second story via stilts (pull your convertible rental right under the house) yielding amazing views of the ocean and mountains of Maui across the water. This allows for a fantastic porch for watching sunsets and catching the early morning breeze for a quiet breakfast outside. The property surrounding the rental is completely private with thick/lush/beautiful landscaping separating the escape from all other dwellings. The large TV and sound system allowing for plugging in an iPod are welcomed comforts after an adventurous day out. The fully furnished kitchen has everything that you could need for cooking and the washer/dryer add immense convenience. There is no a/C but with the ceiling fans and the large windows, it's never too hot.
Owner Michael (who lives with his family in main house on the large property) was incredibly respectful of privacy, easy going, and very pleasant to rent from. He would regular maintain the pool grounds but always first alerted us of his arrival. He also very graciously got us amazing reservations at Mama's Fish House (a must visit for a meal if you're around Paia).
The nearby town of Paia is a hippy surfer town with an amazing brick oven pizza place (Flatbread) and a fun local grocer (Mana). There are some good beaches in the area for water sports but much larger surf than the typical resort West. Located near the beginning of the road to Hana, Kalani Kia Ohana is a highly recommended rental choice.
Fantatic island house for our family vacation
Our family enjoyed the most relaxing vacation in this island house,Kalani Kai Ohana. It is beautifully furnished in the island feel, and has everything you might need . The house is located close to a small beach perfect for early morning swims and tide pool exploring, just a 2 min walk. And a short drive or walk into the small town of Paia, which has lots to offer such as great restaurants and quaint stores for shopping. Paia feels very local and welcoming.Although there are plenty of visitors, Paia is busy with locals too.
We loved staying at Kalani Kai Ohana. The beautiful garden and pool let us have relaxing afternoons and early evening swimming. Perfect vacation rental for families with or without children of all ages,( our kids are 5,12,15).
Perfect spot close to Paia. Well appointed place with all you need and more. Management went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, I'll be returning soon!
Turn Key Holiday
What an incredible place with freedom to be calm. Breathtaking views and all the amenities one could ask for.

Thank you again for your gracious comments! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Extremely well appointed home! We loved the pool, the view, the open living room, the technology (stereo, dvd, flat screen, wifi, etc...). And the generous two bedroom layout was perfect for our family. Paia is our new favorite small town in Hawaii...with a relaxed surfer vibe and has several great restaurant options. We started each morning with a coffee anthony's with the locals and the day just kept getting better. The home is walking distance to Paia but you feel like you are totally secluded. The view melts your worries away and we loved sitting outside on the deck during sunset. We will be back!

Gem of Paia
This great vacation rental house is secluded with beautiful tropical plants, privacy hedges, and ocean view yet it is spacious, comfortable, airy, and inviting to call home in Paia, Maui. It’s centrally located to every adventure trip we planned for the day. We stayed here for 2 weeks. We took day trips to all parts of the Maui from here: Hana, Upcountry, Lahaina, etc. We recommend for anyone visiting Maui to drive to the end of the road in Makena to snorkel and swim in a turquoise calm ocean surrounded by volcano rocks. Closer to the house, we walked to a sandy beach (rough waves but good for sunbathing) and the charming town of Paia for lunch or just to shop around. The swimming pool, and BBQ grill added a nice touch to our stay. The wireless internet worked well. Michael, owner of the property, goes above and beyond the call of duty. We highly recommend this place.

The house is a perfect 2 bedroom lanai with its own pool and view of the Pacific. it comes with a modern kitchen, tv and entertainment system and a barbecue out on the deck .The ohana is immaculately kept and very comfortable. We can walk to the town of Paia and its local restaurants and shops, a 2 minute drive to the world famous windsurfing beach, Hookipa. We went to surfing at Hookipa or kiting at kite beach everyday. This house is also perfect place for our sessions.
Our host is very hospitable and helpful during our stay and helped ensure we had a great visit. We definitely want to go back Kalani Kai Ohana again!

Privacy, views, and upscale touches
We traveled to Maui in March for a week. A friend of ours had stayed at the Kalani Kai on several previous occasions and suggested we stay there. I am glad she did. The Kalani Kai Ohana is located in little Paia town which is roughly 15 minutes from the airport. Paia has all the things you might need for a stay in Maui; groceries, wine, gas and restaurants like Mama’s Fish House and the Paia Fish Market. The Kalani Kai is located right off the Hana Highway and is within close proximity to several beaches where you can sun bathe and watch the surfers (both kite and boarders).
The Kalani Kai is very private. Large hedges surround the property. You share a gated, paved driveway with the owners but once you pass the owner’s house you are in your own quiet piece of paradise. It is nice to retreat here at the end of a busy day. The house has a wonderful second story deck that gives you a great view of the west Maui Mountains. The sunsets are amazing. When you arrive, the patio table will most likely be in the corner, if you move it to the middle, the view is better. There is also a gas grill on the deck if you like to bbq.
The interior of the house is clean, cozy and feels a bit like an upscale suite. The kitchen has black granite counter tops and stainless appliances. There are two bedrooms; one with a queen bed, the second with a twin bed that you can convert into a king, although in this format the bed tends to swallow the room. There are two bathrooms, both complete with porcelain tile and waterfall showers. There is great water pressure so you really feel like you are standing under a waterfall. The only drawback for us was no air conditioning. In defense, the house has a ton of windows and when open you get great airflow throughout. There are also ceiling fans in each room.
Overall, the Kalani Kai Ohana is for those who enjoy privacy, great views and appreciate upscale touches. Our favorite part was sitting on the deck at the end of the day with a glass of wine watching the sunset.
Things to do:
Don’t miss a drive up to the Haleakelau crater. The views are AMAZING! It can be VERY cold at the top, definitely take a jacket. We were freezing!
Drive the Hana Highway just to say you did. Be warned it is VERY twisty. It will take at least 2 ½ to 3 hours to get from Paia to Hana.
The drive around West Maui was a neat adventure. The road is one lane in several places. A stop at the blowhole is a must. If you want to have extra fun, stand in the spray as it blows.
Our favorite adventure was driving the Pillani Highway or State Hwy 31 on the southern side of the island. The Hana hwy turns in to State Hwy 31 once you pass Hana. We thought this drive showcased the most beautiful parts of the island. There was hardly any traffic as I think most people turn around at Hana. We did the drive on a separate day than the Hana hwy drive so we did not have to feel rushed or exhausted from driving by time we got home. It took the same time going from Paia to the south side of the island as it did driving from Paia to Hana. Plan for at least 2 ½ to 3 hours. Our destination was the Oheo gulch, which was beautiful and the Pipiwai trail.
If you want to hike, do the Pipwai trail. Be warned it is the most popular trail on Maui so do not expect privacy. Although, you can space yourself out so that you get a few moments of quiet along the way. It is worth it though. Hiking through the bamboo forest is an amazing experience, not to mention the 184ft and 400ft waterfalls you will see. The huge many-armed Banyan tree is quite a site too.
The owner, Mike, can also give you directions to a hike in the Makawao forest that is supposed to be beautiful. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to do it.
If you like ziplining or have always wanted to try it, Flyin Hawaiin Zipline has the longest ziplines in Hawaii. There are eight lines ranging from 200-3200ft for a total of over 2 miles of line. On the longest line, you are zipping for a whole 60 seconds before you reach the end. You even get a bit of a 4x4 tour on the way up the mountain to the first line. The views are amazing!
We did a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian in their Eco Star and it was beautiful. We did the West Maui Mountains and Molokai tour. The sea cliffs of Molokai are a sight to see!
Very quiet, Very new, very Clean
We have stayed in many different rentals on the North Shore of Maui and
Kalani Kai Ohana is now be one of our favourites. The suite is beautifully
designed, spacious and new. The Kitchen was well stocked and had all
appliances. We also felt very private and enjoyed the private pool. The location
was great for us as we love the North Shore, we walked to Paia a few times.
The owners were friendly and attentive to help us enjoy our stay. Thank you

Private Piece of Paradise!
This place is unbeatable. Our family visits Hawaii each year and Kalani Kai Ohana stands out as one of our favorites! This is the place you imagine stealing away to. It’s private, clean, conveniently located near old town Paia, a secluded cove, and the best restaurant in Maui – Mama’s Fish House. The home is immaculately maintained w/ gourmet kitchen, large flat screen TV, great sound system, comfortable beds, nice linens, washer/dryer, and a view deck perfect for relaxing and or meals. There is also a private pool (our daughter’ favorite spot!) Also, the manager was more than helpful and gave us some great local recommendations.
if you're looking for an island stay with an ocean view, private pool and exquisite accomodations amid beautiful local flora (yes sounds like paradise)you've found it here. we have been coming to maui for more than 20 years. even lived here for a few. not one hotel, condo or friends home came close to the perfectness of this outstanding ohana. we felt completely at home (gourmet kitchen helped). the location is perfect for all the activities we enjoy. surfing, paddling, hiking and golf. we love the secret walking path into the town of paia, plenty kine good food! even though we have family and friends on island this is our new home away from home! aloha.

If you've never been to Paia or the windward side of Maui then this is the way to do it. The house is a perfect 2 bedroom lanai with its own pool and view of the Pacific; it comes with a modern kitchen, tv and entertainment system and a barbeque out on the deck if you feel so inclined - what else do you need? As far as proximity it is a 5 minute walk to the town of Paia and its local restaurants and shops, a 2 minute drive to the world famous windsurfing beach of Hookipa and a 15 minute drive to Haleakala. And did I mention? Momma's Fish House - regularly regarded as one of the best restaurants on Maui is 2 minutes away as well.
Chill-axing and luxiourous!!
Stayed at this lovely ohana for 5 nights with another couple. It was a two bedroom that is perfect for 2 couples or a couple with two or three kids. Tastefully decorated and all the amenities. Very modern, private and luxiourous! Enjoyed swimming in our pool daily and felt very private.
Super close and convenient walk into very funky little surfer town of Paia. Fun little shops and great restaurants! Highly recommend Anthony's on the main strip for a great cup of Java in the mornings!!
Landlord Mike was very hospitable and helpful during our stay and helped ensure we had a great visit!
Highly highly highly recommend it. We will go back!

Heaven on Earth!!
Our family has been staying at Kalani Kai Ohana every year since 2008. We
are welcomed back time and time again to this beautiful paradise and
always love every minute of our holiday! The minute we leave we are
already planning our next visit! The attention to detail, cleanliness and
quality fittings in the ohana are first class and make us feel so comfortable!
The bedrooms are open and airy with great ocean views and the gourmet
kitchen has everything we need and more.
We love to wake up in the morning and look out over the ocean to the
gorgeous West Maui mountains, and sit having our breakfast on the deck
overlooking the lush and immaculate tropical gardens and pool. The beach
and Paia town are just a short stroll away for shopping, eating out and
grabbing some fantastic organic groceries.
Thank you Mike and Konnie for sharing Kalani Kai with our family - it feels
like our home away from home, and we have so many treasured family
memories because of the aloha we feel when we stay. We look forward to
seeing you again soon!

A gorgeous, immaculate, comfortable ocean view home
The Ohana is very well equipt with every kitchen appliance and amenity, washer/dryer, walk-in showers. It is immaculately kept and very comfortable. Gorgeous ocean views from deck, beautiful pool area with comfortable lounge chairs and umbrella. Perfect for a small family or a romantic couple's get-away. Conveniently located within walking distance of Paia town, shopping, restaurants and beaches. The service we received was prompt and professional. The weather is mostly gorgeous, but can be windy at times.

The place has nice big grounds, gorgeous pool.
Great views of the outer breaks.
Walking distance to town.
I would highly recommend this place.
Great pad, great spot, great neighborhood
This place was fantastic. Beautifully appointed, all the amenities, great secluded location, ocean/beach right across the street, close to town, etc.
Wish I was there now....
What a GREAT place! Beautiful, private, walking distance to Paia. Close to
windsurfing, kiting, surfing, etc. and far away from the tourist scene. Can't
wait to go again.
