If you want to be in Paia, or minutes to Ho'okipa or Sprecklesville, you'll like this location. This is the north shore hub for all sports wind and wave. Plus, Paia is a walk-able town. (see: www.paiahousemaui.com)
The north shore has no high rise buildings and is the antithesis of the "resort" experience. Rather, here locals and visitors intermingle, the waves are world-class, and there's plenty of open space. Paia has galleries, restaurants, funky shopping and a wonderful natural foods grocery store called Mana Foods. It's a pretty laid back place.

This home is cute and clean and large enough for the 4 of us! Only a 2 minute walk to every amenity in Paia Town! The beach, the best restaurants on Maui, live music, massage, yoga, salons, boutiques, historical sites. The owners had a wonderful dinner party for us and our sons while they were visiting the island on college break. Thank you Greg and Maria for showing us a great time, with good friends, fresh bbq fish and lots of Napa Valley wine. They have a huge yard with Star fruit trees! We recommend this house with all of our hearts.

Super clean stand alone cottage. Nice yard and BBQ/outside bar area. Short walking distance into town, where you do not want to be driving a car through any time of day. Walk into town in the early morning for a hot coffee and oatmeal breakfast before you head over to the local bike rental for a ride down the volcano.
Cottage was fully stocked with cooking gear and the all important blender. Didn't use the cookware because it was so convenient to walk into town for happy hour and then dinner and entertainment. Only draw back was the use of the washer and dryer by the larger cottage renters. The machines are in the outside shed attached to the smaller cottage. The other renters probably thought we were out but we had some early departures for the bike ride and such and had to listen to the machines for several hours at night when they chose to do their laundry. Also, construction was going on next door, right up against the smaller cottage. We only rented one day during the work week and had the weekend without the construction noise. I think this big house going in next door has taken any views away from this location. The little cottage is now in this big house's shadow.
A good place to rent if there to experience Paia and want to get a feel for the community but don't expect the beach nearby or views of the ocean.
Also, the bath tub shower could be a big safety issue.Response from Paia House - 03/05/2013

Perfect little house walking distance from Paia and close to everything on the north shore. I came with my daughter and friends for kitesurfing and it was perfect. Quiet, clean and just the right size for 2 or 6 people. Bbq, washer dryer, big backyard with nice flowers and lime trees, beach stuff, everything you need. I highly recommend it! p.s. dont miss the fresh baked scones at mana food market.. yum yum!

We stayed at the Paia House in July and loved being so close to town but far enough away to really get a feel for Maui living! The house is quite spacious and was equipped with everything we needed including a bbq and hammock on the back patio. We even picked limes from their lime trees and fresh herbs from their garden for our evening cocktails. The owners, Greg & Maria were incredibly gracious and helpful and insured our stay was a great one. We'd most definitely stay here again and look forward to our next vacation to the Valley Isle!
