Rockford, ILBright airy, but very buggy and needs a good cleaning
Left on 05/20/2013 for a stay in November 2012
My husband and I stayed here last year and we loved the location, being close to Paia and great windsurfing, kiting beaches, etc. We also really appreciated having 2 bathrooms and a 2nd bedroom to lay out our stuff. The overall apt. is light, open, airy and nicely decorated. We are visiting Maui again this Oct., but we did not book this rental again and I'll explain why.
At first glance everything looks great, but after getting settled in we started noticing that some basic cleaning wasn't being done. Lots of gecko droppings and marks on the walls (which means lots of bugs), which was certainly the case. I love having geckos around and enjoy their chirping, but the roaches (some were flying around), cane spiders, tons of ants, etc. were a bit much. I am a nature girl by heart, so insects normally don't bother me too much, but this was really excessive. We did use the mosquito netting around the bed at night, just for peace of mind - lots of creepy crawlies here. We have a 2nd home in the tropics, and are used to a certain amount of these creatures, but this was really due to the place not being as clean as it should have been. Leftover food and stains in fridge, counter top and cabinets need a good scrub, walls need a wipe down (seriously), window screens need repairing, the stairs going up to the apt. needs sweeping, etc. The kitchen wasn't as well equipped as it could have been - needs more glasses, bowls, utensils, etc. Get rid of that leather rug in front of the kitchen sink - god only knows what is lurking in that thing. I'm sure at one time, it was a funky art-statement, but now its just "funky" (not in a good way). We would have loved to spent time on the lanai, but the chairs and tables were so dirty that we would have had to wash them down before using them. When I'm on vacation, I don't feel its my job to clean up the place we're staying in. Also, there is a gigantic flat screen TV taking up half the counter space that we could have used. It looks odd being so large and really detracted from the overall nice athestetic. My advice to the owner is to give the place a serious scrubbing, make some minor repairs, replenish kitchen dishes & utensils, get rid of that filthy leather rug and overly large TV and then you will have a little gem. We would have loved to return, but for the price, we found other accomodations that are just as nice (cheaper) and super clean. -

My dad and I stayed at this wounderful rental for 24 nights. It is a great location surrounded by sugarcane-fields and with a fantastic view on Haleakala and the West Maui Mountains. Surfers can check the waves right from the gallery. This great house has all conditions for a longtime stay. And if there is anything missing the greatest hosts ever do anything to get it for you.
We loved our stay! -

Thank you ana for a wonderful week's stay at your gorgeous house.
We enjoyed beautiful sunsets on the deck and really appreciated the spaciousness and interesting angles of the house - it is a well thought out design.
We loved being amongst fields of cane with long distance views of mountains in the background and Paia just down the road - a great location!
At the end of our week, my husband Jed announced that it was the best bedroom he had ever stayed in!! The windows were just at the right level to let in a gentle breezes behind our heads at night - we're trying to work out how we can recreate that affect at home!
Thanks very much and we hope to see you again.

Corning, CAClean, breezy, lush and serene tropical getaway
Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Ana welcomed us into a clean, breezy, beautifully decorated upstairs apartment with colorful flowers in every room and an expansive view of the ocean on the right and Haleakala on the left. We liked the privacy of the home and the proximity both to Manna Natural Foods (where there is a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables) and to VegOut (an inexpensive vegan friendly restaurant) in Haiku.
We found sleeping difficult because we are used to a bigger and firmer bed. We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen as well as the table on the deck... what a serene and glorious view! -

I lived here for 5 months and hated to move, actually. Great location on the North shore, close to Paia, restaraunts, groceries, and several great beaches. Very private with a fantastic view from the 2nd floor lanai. Very clean, with a great kitchen and master bedroom has a wonderful view of Haleakala.
Ana makes you feel like family, and truly has the aloha spirit. Any attention the place needed was attended to immediately. -

RennesJust my best stay in Maui
Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in September 2012
This is just the perfect place for enjoying the north shore of Maui ! It's not the only place I have stayed at, but after staying with ana and Juan there a few years ago, I don't even bother looking anywhere else. If I want to go to Maui for some relaxing time, that's where I go without thinking about it twice. The location is perfect, a few minutes away from the ocean by feet, close to Paia, close to Hookipa for those who want to surf or windsurf...the house has all you need for your stay, you can park your car right in front, there is a laundry room...and if you stay on the first floor of the house, you have an amazing view on the ocean...very enjoyable when having a meal outside !!! Honestly, I am trying hard, but I just cannot find a single negative point to stay there...so I can only say: go for it ! It's a no brainer...everything is easy, from booking to checking in and checking out...
You will be welcome the best way possible by ana, Juan and Kaipo ! -

I just stayed at this house for four nights. It's a clean 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom house. The ad is a good description of the house. There's a second floor lanai that's great place to eat lunch. It's comfortable with beautiful interiors and a large kitchen area. Beaches are right around the corner and Paia town is close by. Ana was considerate and helpful giving us good tips on where to go. This is a great place to stay and relax in Maui
