A labyrinth of stone pathways crawls up and across the mountainside, each turn revealing an unexpected view; gardens of cacti and agave; citrus, guava, mango, and banana trees; outdoor tubs and fireplaces; a barbecue and fire pit terrace; a grotto lined with grape vines; and intimate alcoves perfect for reading, meditating, or just enjoying the view. An adult sized, palapa tree house is large enough to host a small party and high enough to provide views across the city to the mountains beyond.

Built in the mid 1920s by artist John Burnham, the son of Chicago based architect Daniel Burnham (renowned for his work as supervising architect... of the Chicago Worlds Fair and for designing numerous early sky-scrapers, including the Flatiron building in New York City). It was originally an Art Colony and occupied for many years by various painters and sculptresses.

It has been lovingly restored to its original splendor, incorporating the original buildings and architecture, including period piece fixtures and furnishings, while upgrading the kitchens and baths to today's standards.

There are two separate guest houses, 5 Bedrooms Total :

Guest House #143, is a two bedroom, 2.5 bath detached house with both front and rear patios, and gas barbecue. It's approximately 1800 square feet, and features a saltwater pebble tech pool with tanning shelf & a spa. It includes 3 Flat Screen TV's, 3 DVD Players, stereo and WIFI. The living room offers a wood burning fireplace, 30" concrete tile floors, and a soaring pitched wood beam and rafter ceiling. The kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances and limestone counter tops. The master suite is in the main portion of the home. The second master suite is an attached bedroom and bath with a separate access. A two car garage is also available.

Guest House #139, is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath guest house, approximately 1600 square feet. The living room features 30" square tile floors,and a decorative fireplace. Just two steps up brings you to the kitchen, with all new stainless steel appliances and breakfast table. There are 4 Flat Screen TV's, 4 DVD players and WIFI. Step outside and you'll find extensive patios and lookout area and an outdoor fireplace.
