Description from the owner
Palacio de Riezu is an authentic 16th century building, certified and protected by 'The Institute of Príncipe de Viana', situated in the green heart of Navarra.
As far back as five hundred years ago, the nobility and descendants of the Navarran kings knew and appreciated this region for its temperate climate, vast strips of foliage and its abundance of large and small game.
That's why every now and then, in villages like Riezu, you may stumble upon a 'Palacio'. These are stately, often imposing Lord Houses, which can easily be recognized by the 'escudo', the family crest in bas-relief at the centre of the front gable.

Additional Location Information
Riezu is one of 19 villages in the vast Yerri (or in the Basque tongue: 'Deierri') valley, situated between Pamplona and Estella. This valley also is called 'The Toscane of Spain'. Riezu is one of the villages that gives access to the Natural Reserve 'Sierra de Urbasa y Andía': a hugh virgin area of over 24.000 hectares of forests and mountains; one of the last untouched regions of Spain.
Most of the towns like Riezu, you will not find on your average Michelin map.
The best way to find us, is via the old Pamplona-Estella road (NA-700, or sometimes NA7000), inbetween three villages which are mostly represented on maps: Muez, Iturgoyen and Abárzuza. We are situated on 15 kilometres of Estella and 30 kilometres of Pamplona.
If you are searching on Google Maps, it is best to type in 'Riezu' (our village), and then the address Calle Del Molino (so not our correct address: Plaza De La Fuente). Still: do not follow the route Google Maps offers you: although it's a very beautiful road, it is very time-consuming.
Would you like to make use of your GPS? Please observe that most systems don't recognize our address and subsequently refer you to another village. As address, it is best to use Calle Del Molino or Calle San Roque. Coördinates;
