Additional notes from owner
Notice: The $99 rate is for our smaller studio that does not include a kitchenette, but does sleep 4 people. The other studio rate of $135 to $145 applies to the standard studio with kitchenettes. We accept short-term (2 night) bookings on short notice (weeks out) but not months out. $25 cleaning fee applies to bookings of less than 1 week. Call us to discuss our pet policy, as we have accepted "some" dogs in the past without any problem. Because we have 4 studio apartments, we show availability until all units are booked, so we mostly have some bookings made and some available. We also have 4 BR 2 1/2 bath apartments that sleep up to 10 people at the same location, and together with this studio, would give you 5 BR 3 1/2 bath that sleeps up to 14 people. You can also check available and book online at our website PanamaVacationQuarters dot com or call us at 800-633-4643.

Being in a location that is not only clean, safe is a plus. The staff was friendly and they made sure all your needs were taken care of. Location was quiet and
Beautyful. What I liked best was being able to sit pool side was not hear traffic.
Hope to visit there again. -

ChicagoMisleading and Disappointing
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Don't believe the spin that it is your home away from home. If you are looking for luxury or comfort or easy access to places of interest, this is not the place to stay. The studio had a two burner hotplate, not an oven, a very cheap and old coffee pot, and a very small toaster oven that was good for re-heating or making toast. There was no way for a person to prepare meals, so we ended up spending much more eating out or ordering in than we ever anticipated. To go anywhere, even to the grocery store requires a car, so we spent a lot of money on taxi fares, and you have to negotiate all the fares. That was not bad, and after being "burned" once by a taxi drvier, we found a very reliable and fairly cheap driver. The furnishings in the unit are very old and of poor quality. The curtains cannot be opened--to get sunlight, they have to be removed. The so-called "waterfall" is only turned on if you request it. Because the studio apartment is on the lower level, you are at the mercy of the upstairs tenets, and you can hear their footsteps and television and it can be quite annoying. Were it not for the manager, Karolina, the trip would have been a complete disappointment. She was very accommodating and assisted us in arranging tours and provided us with the names of taxi drivers, even though the first one we took, Sr. Roy, charged us an outrageous fee. Of course, we did not realize this until later. We loved Panama but will not come back to this location.

As this reply comes as a shock to us (mostly to our manager Karolina), thank you for the opportunity to make our property better. Since we usually get 5 stars from all our guests, this provides a chance for us to recheck things and see where we might have missed our high standards, and make improvements where necessary. One thing I just did was to more accurately describe the cooking appliance in the unit. Flipkey now allows a further description, so I have added the text "2 burner cook-top." One of our studios does have a full walk-in kitchen, but that costs a little more and this guest opted for the unit with smaller kitchenette. I stayed in this unit for 2 weeks in August, 2012 and found the kitchenette to be fully stocked, and my family of 4 prepared many meals in the unit. Although the coffee-maker was only 1 1/2 old, it looked olderand we have replaced it with a new one. We are located inside a National Park with no commercialism in the immediate area, and although some guests do walk to stores and restaurants, most rent cars or take taxi's. As the taxi drivers are not our employees we can't control what they charge (or why that would be left in a review of our property), but we did follow up with Sr. Roy about it. He told us: "I took them both to the Baha'i Temple in Panama City, but she did not want to take the faster highways, but backroads. Going this route it is an hour to the temple, and an hour back to PVQ, and I also waited for them while at the temple." Roy charged $40 for this 3+ hour trip over 25 miles. My guess is this is substantially cheaper than a 3+ hour taxi ride in Chicago (where Reviewer lives), but it did provide us the chance to review all our drivers and what they charge. Everyone seems to love Sr. Roy, and we are sorry you were not happy with his services. In speaking to our manager Karolina, she was very surprised by your review, as she had no idea you felt this way, and we are sorry our property did not meet your expectations. We are evaluating the night shade (curtain) to see if we can locate some that can be rolled up and down, instead of removed & installed as ours are. Will continue to work hard to improve and make PVQ a great place to stay, and appreciate you taking the time to provide this review and this helpful information for us. Than you, Bob (owner)

Los AngelesCan wait to go back!! I love Panama
Left on 10/10/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Panama Vacation Quarters was the best choice for accommodations. I took a group of college students for a technical tour of the Panama Canal. The area of the apartments is amazing (Cerro ancon), and near many attractions. I took a group of 21 college students; they all had fun and enjoy staying in PVQ. For our last day we did a BBQ and had fun in the pool. The staff is friendly and helpful. The apartments are great, you feel at home. I can't wait for my trip next year, and to stay in PVQ.

This was my third visit to Panama Vacation Quarters and as usual, it was very pleasant. It is away from the noise of the city. Karolina is most helpful - she will make calls in Spanish when needed. And, I love being able to have a basket of laundry done and returned. Nice, relaxing place
