Set in secluded landscaped gardens on the edge of the Akamas, just 300m from the beach with stunning sea views and only a 5 minute drive to the fishing harbour of Latchi, this luxury villa is fully air-conditioned, with free Wifi and accomodates up to 6 people. The property is set out on two floors with a spacious open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and modern furniture and fittings. The mature, landscaped gardens offer both shady and sunny terraces. A large entertainment patio with dining table and chairs and comfortable sofa seating overlooks the 9m x4m pool which is surrounded by a large, sunny patio area, with sun loungers, umbrellas et...c. A private, double bedroom with adjoining shower room leads separately out to the pool. Upstairs, the master bedroom with 4 poster double bed opens onto a private balcony with stunning sea views and another sun terrace with gazebo. Bedroom 3 has twin beds and views across to the Troodos.

Only 50 minutes drive from Paphos airport, but a world away from the rat-race of the busy resorts, the villa's location in the Akamas region affords beautiful weather which is pleasant off-season and not as oppressively hot as the south coast in high summer.

The villa is situated just 300 metres from Asprokremos beach, widely recognised as the best on Cyprus. Outside of August, we often have it totally to ourselves. According to Giles Coren, writing in The Times on September 12th 2012 'What a bay. What a beach. I have never been anywhere in the world so top end and modern where the views were over empty sea, virgin beach and barely developed hills (which are protected so won't get spoiled)'

The Akamas National Park is immediately behind the villa and offers a diverse selection of wildlife, migratory birds and flora. A comprehensive network of established walking trails criss-cross the Akamas peninsula. There are routes to suit every level of fitness: from a gentle stroll through spectacular scenery to the Baths of Aphrodite nearby; to hard-core trekking in challenging mountain terrain. The Akamas peninsula is southern Cyprus's least developed & best-kept secret. A region of natural beauty, deserted coves housing turtle sanctuaries, crystal-clear waters, picturesque villages and thickly wooded hillsides rising majestically above the rugged coastline. The views from high up on the peninsula are spectacular; and in spring the limestone rock is sprinkled with thousands of rock cyclamens and other flowers. And if you’re a keen walker, the five mile Aphrodite Trail walk (which starts a few hundred metres from the villa) is a must: you’ll emerge tired but exhilarated! And if you don’t fancy the steep climb, you can walk along the Akamas coast from the Aphrodite Baths on a wide accessible track providing easy walking and lovely views.

Within a five minute drive of the villa is picturesque Latchi, with its pretty harbour and new marina. You can take a leisurely stroll to watch the many fishing boats followed by a relaxing waterfront lunch or traditional meze dinner at one of the many small seafood restaurants and tavernas offering the best fresh sea food in Cyprus. Latchi has several operators offering all things nautical, including small motor boat hire, scuba diving etc. A variety of water sports are available throughout the summer season. Trips are available from Latchi harbour. These go up the coast past the villa to the blue lagoon and are a nice way of seeing the coast and doing a bit of swimming/snorkeling. A traditional boat stays out longer and provides a barbecue on board. From the harbour you can also hire a small boat to explore the isolated coves along the bay, hire scuba diving equipment, paraglide, etc.

The elegant 5-star Anassa Hotel is within walking distance of the villa; it has a range of world-class restaurants offering some of the best food and wine on Cyprus together with a world class spa complex helping to make the Anassa one of the 20 top mediterranean hotels according to a recent Times readers' survey. Or why not just stroll along to sip a cocktail on the terrace before returning for a meal at the villa with a view of the identical beach!

The charming, historic town of Polis is about 10 minutes drive and here you will find a wide choice of bars & restaurants. Asprokremos is one of the least crowded beaches on Cyprus, and you can gaze out over the sparkling, calm waters or watch splendid sunsets over Cape Amaoutis and its offshore islets.
It's location is ideal for an early morning swim before breakfast (the sea remains warm until November). Turtles lay eggs on this beach in early summer. The exclusive, world class Anassa Hotel, with its luxury facilities is a 5 minute stroll along the beach in one direction and a traditional beach taverna is the same distance in the other direction. The Akamas National Park is immediately behind the villa; backed by a rugged spine of hills, covered with pine and juniper trees. Along its shores are southern Cyprus’s only empty beaches, and from the trails in the hills are some of the finest coastal views in Cyprus. There’s excellent snorkelling off its rocky shores. It also offers a diverse selection of wildlife, migratory birds and flora. In the spring the rocks are covered in wild cyclamen and other alpine flowers. Nearby are the famous Baths of Aphrodite, the goddess’s mythical bathing pool. Around the spring feeding the pool radiates a network of walking trails including the Fontana Amorosa, a 6-km (4-mile) which winds along rocky slopes by the edge of the sea, overlooked by pine-covered slopes with many perfect opportunities for a cooling plunge in the sea. Scattered in the hills behind the villa are many interesting old villages to explore such as Drouseia, one of the region’s prettiest villages, with graceful old stone houses standing above steep lanes overlooked by the limestone crags of Agios Georgios.   We couldn't have asked for more from a villa in Cyprus. It's located a few minutes' walk from the beach but privately situated on a small development of other similar villas offering privacy and peaceful surroundings. The villa itself is fabulous, five star stuff, beautifully and comfortably furnished. For a honeymooning couple, the main bedroom has to be a feature and it didn't disappoint us! A lovely king size poster bed with a de-luxe memory foam mattress which was just gorgeous... patio doors opened onto a large balcony with great views across the ocean was magical whilst eating our breakfast each morning. In fact, I don't think we could fault it at all. Just a couple of miles away is the lovely little village of Polis which we really enjoyed for mid-morning coffee or a meal in the evening. All in all, this is a terrific villa in a terrific spot. First class!

  Wonderful holiday in idyllic location, waking up every morning to a view of the Mediterranean. The villa was more than we could have hoped for with great facilities. We spent hours just lazing around the beautiful terraces and swimming in the villas'fantastic pool. The services team were really helpful and everything was kept spotlessly clean. We would without doubt recommend this villa to all our friends, and hope to return one day soon. The villa is only a short drive from some lovely restaurants and a great beach, so there is something for everyone here. Thanks Peter,we loved it!

  A relaxing holiday in one of the most quiet and beautiful areas

  We have been to this part of Cyprus many times, staying in villas within easy reach of Polis, an unspoilt little town, however this one rates as one of the best!
  Gladiolous 2 Villa is situated right on the coast on the beautiful wild akamas peninsular, with an easy walk to our favourite beach..a long stretch,usually almost empty until one reaches the taverna at the far end, which has good food and friendly staff.
  Beyond this is a further taverna with great food and small beach before the road reaches the aphrodite's Pool area.
  Here one can take a short scramble to the pool or a long walk along a track around the tip of the penisular, ending up on the other coast.
  Here also of course is another excellent taverna with a lovely view.
  The villa has a fantastic sea view, the garden is pretty and well kept, with several shady areas,and the pool is a delight!
  Despite being in such a quiet rural area, it is close to Latchi, a developing village with a lovely harbour, well blessed with restaurants, and several supermarkets.
  The villa itself is more like a family home than a holiday villa (which of course it is!) and has all the comforts and equipment one needs.
  We spent much of our time there sitting in the covered area overlooking the pool, sipping "something or other" and gazing at the sea.
  Unusually for a Cyprus villa, the main bed has a really comfortable mattress, a real joy!..and ceiling fans in every room.
  Thankfully we did not need to use air conditioning at all.
  Peter and his wife are very helpful and friendly..also patient and humerous, as they put up with all my queries before our stay!
  We both would recommend this villa to anyone looking for peace, comfort and beautiful surroundings, but also requiring access to shops as well as good food and drink!

  I really value this review as these guests have visited the area many times and stayed in lots of other villas over the years. Here's what they wrote in our guestbook after their stay. "We can honestly say that in 9 visits to the area, your villa is the most comfortable and in one of the best positions regarding the beach. The garden is lovely; we revelled in the smell of herbs and jasmine lying on the sun beds in the evenings! And the mattress on the main bed is the very best we have ever slept in. "

  We spent an idyllic 10 days in this beautiful villa.
  Very tastefully appointed - much higher than we have found on previous holidays. The standard is very high all round and we felt that all our needs were really well met.
  The villa is situated in such a lovely quiet area, nestled in front of the akamas and within walking distance of the beach. We felt that we had the best of both worlds because we could quite easily reach other towns and villages if we wanted a bit of hustle and bustle. There is an excellent choice of cafes and restaurants in these areas.
  We hired a boat and quad bikes on the days that we wanted a change from sitting by the very nice pool.
  The weather was gorgeous, which was a great bonus.
  We would highly recommend this villa and would certainly return.

  If you like your holiday resorts quiet, authentic and not swamped by development, this is the area for you. If you visit in spring or autumn, when visitors are scarce, the ‘weather bonus’ compared with the UK is at its greatest. In April or October when the weather back home can be grey, damp and cold, our guests usually have warm sunshine and light breezes.

  Gladiolus 2 is a lovely, clean, well equipped and well looked after villa located in a beautiful setting with some most memorable views. Three very comfortable bedrooms (the master bedroom has a four poster bed), a spacious lounge and well-equipped kitchen, toilets and bathrooms/showers up and downstairs and wonderful pool and garden area. It has TV, DVD and wi-fi with excellent connectivity and air-conditioning units throughout the villa. As stated in the specification, there is good access from the villa to the beach where the sea is crystal clear and very inviting. A five minute walk along the beach leads to a fish taverna and a Cypriot run hotel where you can enjoy a meal or just a drink whilst soaking up more stunning views. The villa is well placed for exploring the akamas peninsula which boasts many interesting walks and nature trails, as well as a great off-road driving experience. A drive across the peninsula to Lara beach where the turtles lay their eggs, followed by a meal at the Last Castle is highly recommended. The villa is also well situated for visits to Latchi, Polis and Neo Chorio where Smiyies restaurant serves a delicious Cypriot meze.

  Perfect for unwinding!
  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful villa; clean, extremely comfortable and every need catered for! We spent our days relaxing around the larger than expected pool, which was always the perfect temperature. Later in the day we would take the 5 minute walk to the beach for snorkelling and swimming. There are many local restaurants, especially the understated aphrodite Hotel restaurant, a 3 minute drive! We spent four hours enjoying a delicious Sunday lunch, playing cards and enjoying the beautiful views. Thank you for your hospitality at Gladiolous 2, we really had a wonderful time.

  Owner's Response: The Akamas region is beautiful and still largely undiscovered by the mass tourism industry. The whole area is great for just unwinding or exploring. The beach immmediately below the villa is regarded as one of the best on the island and we often have it totally to ourselves even at the height of the season.
