House with a breathtaking view of Paraty Bay and surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, located 10 km from the colonial town of Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. 10 minutes walking distance from a fishing village and 15 minutes from a beautiful tropical beach.
The house is Brazilian style with 4 bedrooms with views, all with private bathroom and air conditioning, carefully furnished to make you feel completely at home, a spacious living room with a fireplace, cable TV/DVD and a gourmet kitchen. Paraty, currently aNational Artistic Heritage site, was founded in the late sixteenth century, becoming a strategic point in the trade of gold brought from Minas Gerais for shipment to Europe. Currently the gold route can be visited and is a tourist attraction. The boom lasted until the late nineteenth century, first with gold and then coffee, but then came its decline until in 1960 the road to Rio de Janeiro Santos was opened, marking a new stage of progress in the development of tourism.
It has a well-preserved historic centre, where access is prohibited foe cars and you can find many charming restaurants and craft shops. The city is surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, with the National Park of Serra da Bocaina and the State Park of Serra do Mar, with immense biological diversity which makes it very attractive for hiking, horseback riding and nature activities. Its bay has 60 islands and 300 beaches, most of them only accessible by boat, making trips by boat one of its greatest attractions.
Paraty hosts many events throughout the year, but the most important is the FLIP which is the most prestigious literary festival in Latin America, and usually held in July.
The rainforest with its mountains born from the sea, its quiet bay full of islands, beaches and the charm of its old town, make Paraty a place well worth visiting.
In the city of Paraty there are several boat tours and schooner that takes tourists to see other beautiful islands.
You can find beaches for all tastes. From the popular and no less spectacular beaches of Trindade, which are usually very lively with typical bars, to the lesser known beaches that require an excursion through the jungle to reach them.
Discover the Brazilian rain forest with its rivers, waterfalls and natural pools. The whole region is protected by national or state parks.

We (2 families with 5 children in total) had a wonderfull week in this really very nice house, with a nice garden, a great pool and very good service people. We really could recommend this house. We will visit this nice place for sure some more times.

We were very lucky to find Ramon & Carmen's beautiful villa, and received an extremely warm welcome, and made to feel really at home. The villa is beautifully appointed with exquisite taste, being our host's much loved home, and the views from the balconies were out of this world, photographs not doing full justice to the spectacular vistas.
The facilities were wonderful, with gorgeous swimming pool to cool off in, fascinating gardens where much thought has gone in to cleverly landscaping and designing the planting of hedges, flower beds and native trees and provides an environment for many interesting birds and butterflies to flourish. The barbeque area is extremely well designed to provide a chimneyed BBQ and bread/pizza oven plus fridge and sink in a shaded corner of the pool area which is great for al fresco cooking and dining. The house itself, is huge with open plan dining area for a large party and relaxing lounge with cosy corner for watching TV, listening to music on a lovely Hi Fi system which I used a lot, great selection of music CDs and Dvds. Attention to detail is incredible.
The bedrooms were again beautifully appointed and our bedroom had a fantastic balcony with stunning views of the island opposite Praia Grande, and had the luxurious 2 person jacuzzi/bath which we enjoyed immensely.
Everything about Carmen & Ramon's villa was a joy, and Consuelo the housekeeper, was very helpful, with a sumptuous breakfast of tasty fruits, breads and Brazilian specialities like the cheese balls which we loved so much.
The location is perfect for exploring with a car, the many attractions nearby, such as the fishing village at Praia Grande, where you can eat nice fish dishes at Cafe San Francisco, or the jungle along the coast and experience the cool waterfalls and natural swimming pools near Grauna. Carmen & Ramon were very helpful in suggesting lovely places to visit including the colonial town of Parati.
Too little time! We want to return very soon! -

A pousada está localizada a poucos quilometros do centro histórico, gastronômico e cultural de Paraty, o que garante privacidade e sossego ao hóspede.
A pousada fica a poucos metros da praia, com uma vista maravilhosa do mar e das ilhas ao redor.
As acomodações são confortáveis, aconchegantes.

Una amiga insistió en qué fuéramos porque está enamorada de esta casa y de sus espectaculares vistas, y desde luego no exageró. Fueron unos días inolvidables. La casa es realmente preciosa y acogedora, esta decorada al detalle. Las vistas desde cualquier punto de la casa son increíbles; yo creía que eso sólo podía verse en las películas, pero existe!.
Además hay un montón de sitios cerca para visitar, playas paradisíacas,cascadas, selva... restaurantes en sitios insospechados... en fin, es un paraíso.
Carmen y Ramón, gracias por habernos hecho sentir como en casa. Sois encantadores y unos maravillosos anfitriones.
Ya planeando la próxima!

When we first stayed here, some 7 years ago, and my wife announced that it was her "paradise", it was pretty clear that we would return. The first view of Paraty bay from the house, surrounded by tropical vegetation, is intoxicating and the sheer luxury of the house and garden is enough to tempt anyone to spend the whole holiday there without ever going out. And of course, you can - after all, there's nothing wrong with a bit of healthy temptation in paradise. It is equally easy, however, to go on excursions to discover Paraty, the islands and beaches, the mountains and waterfalls and at the same time meet the really friendly people who live there. Since that first trip we have returned every year to find that Tamen and Ramón have always added something special to delight visitors. What can we say? Highly recommended.

This guest house is amazing in every way.The hosts are wonderful people and they made me feel at home.Gorgeous house, the beautiful location is perfect for a relaxing holiday.Amazing views to the bay and the atlantic forest.
The rooms were fabulous and the breakfast delicious. Thank you Ramón and Tamen for a wonderful stay. I would recommend this place to my friends an family.

Balcón de la Bahía es un sitio muy especial. Sus propietarios han conseguido aunar en esta casa el máximo confort y la calidez de un hogar.
Ubicada en un excelente lugar las vistas a la bahía superan lo imaginable y la isla frente a la piscina y el gran porche parece formar parte del magnífico jardín. La casa es muy cómoda y amplia y conserva el encanto de las construcciones coloniales de esta parte de Brasil donde la cercana villa de Paraty es el máximo exponente. La decoración y el mobiliario están realizados por artesanos y artistas de la zona lo que le da un valor añadido al conjunto.
Si uno quiere disfrutar de tranquilidad y de actividades en una naturaleza exuberante recomiendo este sitio. El recuerdo será imborrable.

the location is amazing. It is much better than in the pictures!!! In the front the most magnificent bay and garden, in the back the jungle. Also the house is in perfect harmony with the environment: the woods, the terraces, the brazilian furniture, and the bedrooms are ...perfect.
From there you can go to wild beaches, rent a little boat and sail around the islands... have a lunch in restaurants hanging on mountains...

Mi mujer y yo somos fans incondicionales del "Balcón de la Bahía"; vamos todos los años desde España porque es el mejor lugar que conocemos para disfrutar de nuestras vacaciones. Los amaneceres son espectaculares, la casa está decorada con mucho gusto y cuenta con todas las comodidades. Los propietarios, Carmen y Ramón, nos tratan con mucha atención y siempre están dispuestos a orientartnos para aprovechar al máximo nuestras estancias.
