FloridaWhirlwind Trip to Paris
Left on 11/19/2009 for a stay in October 2009
This was my first visit to Paris and I only had four days to see everything!! The Marais Studio Loft was perfectly located to a main metro station and we were able to find our way around the city very easiy. The apartment met our needs for our short stay and provided us much more space than a hotel room would have. The loft bed was quite comfortable and I slept great every night; additionally, the linens and towels were fabulous! Unfortunately, we did not have time to explore the Marais neighborhood because there were too many other sites to visit! I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone spending time in Paris!

Opelika, ALMy summer stay in Paris was even better than I had expected/plan

This apartment was perfect for my ten-day stay. I traveled alone. I found the location near perfect. The metro station Temple is directly in front of the front entrance and Monoprix is two doors down. I enjoyed many espressos at the corner cafe. It is also noteworthy that a boulangerie-patisserie is a two-minute walk away, a pharmacy is across the street, and ATMS are abundant on Rue du Temple. The apt. itself is furnished in an IKEA style and is very comfortable. I wouldn't hestitate to stay here again.

Austin, TexasGreat Little loft!

This was the very first time we ever stayed in an apartment in Paris and we loved it. It had everything you needed and more space than a hotel. I love the fact that it had an elevator in the building, a computer with internet access and it was close to a metro stop. There was a crepe stand around the corner and it was amazing. I would run down buy a few different crepes and run back upstairs and we would enjoy a quick and easy meal before heading out for the day or we would grab a late snack. Delicious!!There was a grocery store/clothing store down the street. It had everything you needed! We had alot of fun shopping like everyday citizens. To save money we would pack sandwiches or just brie and bread. It was heaven for the budget traveler. The only downside is that all the bakeries and cafes close by are closed on sunday. But it didn't stop us from finding an amazing cafe closer to city centre. And The best thing of all was that it had a washer/dryer!! Our stay in Paris was the second week of our tour in Europe so being able to wash clothes and towels. It was a godsend. At the time of my stay there were no English instructions for the washer. I was lucky to have lived in Europe so I already knew how they worked. You may want to make sure there are english instructions before your stay to make it easier. I would definetly stay there again!

Philadelphia, PAGreat Location!

Maria's Marais is located in the Marais part of Paris very close to a huge metro hub (Republique) and around the corner from a Monoprix supermarket. Ile de la Cite is only a 10 minute walk away.
The apartment itself was alright; I'd recommend it to someone who doesn't want to pay too much for an adequate place to stay and is low maintenance. If I had another 25 dollars a night, I may have stayed elsewhere, but at the time, Maria's Marais was perfect for us.
There were a couple issues like lights that were out and a window that wouldn't open. The towels weren't the softest, so bring your own! We didn't really use the appliances but I have read in other reviews that directions weren't available.
Now to the lofted bed. It wasn't too bad at all. There are actual steps (without a railing) that you walk up and a mattress that is soft and very comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone who has a foot or leg issue because it would be harder to get up those steps. ( I do have pictures of the apartment including the bed so feel free to contact me and request them)
So if you're looking for a central place to stay in Paris and don't want to spend a lot, Maria's Marais could be the place for you. But if you have a little more money to spend on a place to stay you may be able to find something else with some more space and a bed on the floor! -

Houston, TXLiving like a Parisian!
Left on 05/21/2009 for a stay in March 2009
This was our first trip to Paris and our first time using VIP. We loved it all!
The apt is walking distance from La Republic Metro station in the 3eme and it gets you just about anywhere with connections to all the sites- Notre Dame,Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe,Catacombs. I wanted to live "like a parisian" while there ~ mission accomplished. I love to cook most days we had Lunch out but many evenings I prepared dinner after shopping the open air markets. The Monoprix is around the corner and I must have stopped in everyday ( reminds me of a mini Target) and if you just want groceries there is the Franprix and various produce and fresh flower stands on rue du Bretagne just a few blocks away..
The building is modern, clean and quiet...it has a classic french elevator just a treat to ride after being out and about all day. It was cool at night 40's when we visited but the heating was great. Glad we brought our own laptop, had some problems using the PC & printer in the apt. The oven smoked when we attempted to use it. the sleeping loft is tight you can situp in bed but not stand, the sofa bed is not that comfortable maybe a feather bed on top would be nice, but other than that. We were very pleased with the space. We will use and recommend VIP!

Long Beach, CAExcellent pied-a-terre
Left on 05/13/2009 for a stay in November 2007
We really enjoyed this little apartment--it wasn't too small (had room to spread out), we didn't have to move anything for maid service (like at a hotel), and it felt like we were "home" each night we got home. The kitchen was an excellent bonus for breakfasts and when we got tired of eating out. I was five months pregnant during my stay, and I had ZERO problems with comfort, if that's any indication. We also had Internet access and a TV, which kept us in excellent touch with the outside world. Finally, you couldn't beat the location--just upstairs from a supermarket and across the street from a metro, yet completely 100% safe.

Cleveland, OHGreat place in perfect neighborhood!
Left on 05/13/2009 for a stay in May 2008
The loft apartment was charming and had everything we needed for our stay in Paris, plus a few bonuses (washer/dryer, wifi). It was great to be in the Marais, a bit off the well-worn tourist paths, but within a 5 minute walk of 2 metro stations.
The 3rd arr. teems with great restaurants nearby (don't miss Cafe Soprano!), many of which are mentioned in the guest notebook and Paris Walks cards in the apartment. We got good mileage out of the Paris Walks, for sure!
The building was quiet and secure, and our interaction with Martine, the property manager, was great. She answered our two questions promptly, then went the extra mile to suggest reliable transportation to the airport for us.
We had 3 people in the flat for our stay, and realistically I think that's about the limit. Four would be stretching it. The upstairs bed is a simple loft platform with a matress. It's comfortable but not plush. The sofabed is similar. The space in this apartment is maximized quite nicely.
All things considered, we had a blast in Paris, and Maria's Marias is a big reason why our trip was such a success. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I would not hesitate to recommend it. When compared with hotel rates in Paris (yikes), you will get a much more authentic experience (for half the price) with more everyday amenities in a flat like this one.
One last thing...dealing with the rental company was a breeze...much easier than dealing with a French broker because I didn't have language barrier issues. The key showed up in the mail, and when we got back stateside I simply sent it back via insured mail.
If you go to the Marais, stop in to Sacha Finkelstajn's cheesecake and bakery on the Rue de Rosiers. It will change your life! -

Maria's Marais Studiobudget stay
Left on 05/12/2009 for a stay in June 2007
The property is located closed to all tourist atractions, metro and shops. The tiny studio we found a bit squashy ;-) for 2 adult + 15 years old boy. Studio is economical rather than comfortable, but all basics provided eg. Tv, internet, washing machine, nice kitchen with all cooking utensils, fridge etc. Recommended for short stay for couples, good for your budget.

Left on 05/12/2009 for a stay in June 2006
On arrival this property had not been cleaned. We arrived at the confirmed time. Dirty towels, kitchen dirty, bathroom a mess, beds not made. Phoned contact who promptly came around - but we had to wander off for 2 hours while it was cleaned. It is very small for 4 people, okay for 2 people, even if you are only using it to sleep. Location is good, plenty of restaurants etc close by. Metro close by also. It also stated that there was internet access - did not work the whole time we were there - agent was not able to help.
