Would you like to experience the charm and character of old Paris in the comfort and ease of modern furnishings and conveniences? We offer you a historic and beautiful 17 th century apartment located in the prestigious 2 nd Arrondissement in a “Quartier” rich in history. The reputable “Architecture et Arts de Paris” recently described this ancient slice of Paris as being one of the most vibrant and fashionable neighborhoods in the city.Rue Marie Stuart is a small and narrow cobblestone street extending about 50 meters between rue Montorg...ueil and the arcades of the Passage du Grand Cerf, one of the narrow, enclosed commercial passages lined with small boutiques, cozy restaurants and cafes that crisscross this part of Paris. The arcades were built during the 19 th century Haussmann renovations of the city. Poets like Baudelaire strolled here and the literary critic and philosopher Walter Benjamin identified the arcades as being emblems of the distinctly modern metropolis.

Rue Marie Stuart is closed to traffic. Looking out through the open French windows on a sunny day is as restful and regenerating as being in the country. But step outside, walk about 20 meters to the right to rue Montorgueil, and you are embraced by one of the most alive and picturesque streets of Paris. Off limits to traffic, like Marie Stuart, one of the oldest streets in the city offers an array of small shops, groceries, restaurants, and cafes to a steady stream of Parisians. It is called the rue Marche because you can purchase fresh flowers, fruits, vegetables, fish, and an assortment of meats, cheeses, and bread from small shopkeepers who display their wares openly. Some of the restaurants and stores date back as far as the 17 th century! Enjoy the village feeling and sense of place and history. Y ou will find the bustle and discriminating ambience of Paris until late at night on rue Montorgueil.

The four story house on rue Marie Stuart dates back to the early 17 th century. It is listed and photographed in “Architecture et Arts” and routinely visited by guided walking tours as an example of early 17 th century architecture. The building was completely renovated about 20 years ago in order to modernize the infrastructure while maintaining its historical integrity. It is constantly being maintained through sizable contributions of all co-proprietors. There is an elevator in the building.

The apartment has one bedroom with a window looking out on a quiet courtyard, an open kitchen/dining/living room area, a full bath with standing shower, and a separate toilet located for privacy in the hall between bed and living rooms. We had the apartment remodeled and furnished consistent with the quality we want for our home. It is not primarily a rental, although we are pleased to share the experience of living here with our valued clients.

We have carefully preserved the 17 th century terracotta floor and, of course, those magnificent 400-year old beams that support high ceilings. But we have consistently sought to modernize the conveniences and furnishings in accordance with out sense of style. We had the bathroom remodeled in by tiling the walls, installing a glass shower screen, a heated towel rack, and a vanity with cupboard. We added a built-in closet for hanging clothes and storage and an entertainment center for the living room. There is room for storage and clothes in the bedroom closet too. In 2011 the bathtub was removed to make room for a larger shower stall.

In early 2007 we completed major remodeling in the kitchen and toilet. There is a toilet, a cupboard with vanity and sink, and light fixtures. We love our kitchen, which was designed by LaPeyre. The wall separating the kitchen from the living room has been torn down. We now have a wonderful breakfast bar with a massive oak countertop. All appliances, including refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, four burner convection stove, and sink are new. Drawers and cupboards in lacquered white and dark brown trim provide ample room for kitchenware. The backsplash to the stove is tiled in white and yellow.

We have also added overhead light fixtures in the living room and kitchen and wall lamps in the living and bedroom. We have installed a big water heater that provides an ample supply of water for showers or baths! All pictures in the living room are originals. We have a queen size bed in the bedroom and the large couch in the living room. The couch can be converted into a bed for two.

Rue Marie Stuart is located in the heart of Paris. The Seine, the Louvre, the Opera, the Marais District, Sainte Chapelle, and the Latin Quarter are all within easy walking distance. The same is true of Les Halles, the Palais Royal, and the Tuilleries. The nearby Forum des Halles, where you will find a large selection of shops as well as a large swimming pool and a Cineplex, complements the variety of cafes, restaurants, and shops on rue Montorgueil.

Transportation could not be more convenient from this fantastic location. If you cannot walk where you want to go, there are three metro stations and three rapid transit lines (RER) within a five-minute walk of the apartment. The central bus stop at Place Chatelet is also within a few minutes’ walk.

Need more room? The apartment is located in next to the building having our studios apartment ID 29 and apartment ID 179 . This is a perfect combination for two or three families traveling together but yet want separate accommodations. Together, the three properties can accommodate up to 10 persons.Read more

  Such a great place! The location was amazing!! So close to everything and the adjoining street was always bustling and full of life. Although the livingroom area was a little noiser because of this, the bedroom was very quiet. The place was clean and had all kinds of dishes, pans, etc. Can't wait to go back!! We loved it!!!

  Wonderful Stay in Paris

  Recently a friend and I rented this apartment for a one week stay. I've rented several apartments from Vacation in Paris and this was my favorite. The location made for an easy trip via RER B from CDG with a short walk to the apartment. The location was great, near several Metro stops, within easy walking distance of many sights, right off rue Montorgueil, so many food options right around the corner from the apartment. The apartment looked exactly like the photos, was a nice size, very comfortable and had everything needed. Wi-fi worked like a dream and the ability to call back to the us and check in at home was a huge plus. The bed, sofa bed and furnishings were extremely comfortable, really can't say anything bad about the accommodations at all, only a small negative - the cleaning crew could have taken a little more care in upkeep, apartment was quite dusty even tho someone had checked out the day prior to our arrival. All in all, an excellent stay.

  I'm catching up on writing some reviews and realized I neglected to review this great apartment.
  
  First, let me say that working with Vacation In Paris was a terrific experience. Everything was hassle free-from the booking to getting the keys.
  
  The apartment itself is wonderful. Fantastic location on a lovely market street with oldest bakery in Paris right around the corner. Indulge in the warm croissants daily! Lots of nearby restaurants/cafes, taxi stand and metro stop. Clean, comfortable apartment with all the amenities you need. Comfy bed, clean towels, lovely furnishings and well appointed kitchen. It was fantastic to have a washer/dryer because it really cuts down on luggage. On the market street you can pick up everything you need to have breakfast in the apartment and you can save quite a bit of money just eating this one meal at home. The whole experience was much more comfortable and affordable than a hotel. It was also nice to have a half bath in the apartment so my husband and I could get ready at the same time. I really can't say enough good things about renting an apartment in Paris.
  
  Do be aware that if you are travelling in the cold weather months that the apartment was hard to heat, so take some warm PJs and be ready to snuggle at night. If you have mobility issues, the stairs are a little precarious and the elevator isn't great. Just a couple of minor draw backs, but nothing that would keep me from staying again.

  We stayed in this apartment for our one week 10th anniversary trip to Paris. The location is in the sometimes overlooked 2nd arrondissement. It is still a central location, with a walk to the Louvre taking 15 minutes. It is a couple blocks or a 3-4 minute walk to a couple metro stations (Etienne Marcel and Sentier). The gigantic Les Halles/Chatelet is not too much further. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and well furnished. It is on a side street of the pedestrian market street, Rue Montorgueil. All the fresh bread, produce, pastries etc. are all right here. I would strongly suggest getting a rotisserie chicken called a "Poulet Fermier" if you want to eat in one night. There is a full kitchen. Beer can be pretty expensive at bars in Paris, about 8 euros a pint, so it was nice to be able to stock the apartment fridge with some beer from the Monoprix. France has some great beers, most notably Kronenbourg and Pelforth. (I've never seen Pelforth in the us)
  We rented through Vacation in Paris, and the apartment was exactly as advertised. There was wireless internet (get the password from the guest binder in the apartment) and having a seperate bedroom from the living room was nice. Not too much storage area in the bedroom, but we found a place for emptied luggage in the living room.
  
  In summation, getting an apartment in Paris over a hotel room was a more economical and relaxing experience. We did all of our vacation planning beforehand, so I did not miss having a concierge/front desk to answer questions. Vacation in Paris has an office in New Jersey, and will mail you the apartment keys beforehand, so you do not have to set up a meeting with the owner to get them.

  This was our 2nd time staying at 79 Vieux and we hope to stay again next Feb. Highly recommend.
  
  $140 us a night. 500 sq ft. Large for a Parisian apt. Very clean. Kitchen was very user friendly. Both fold out couch in living room & bedroom mattresses were extremely comfortable.
  
  Nice having a washer/drier in apt. If you take the time to read operating instruction, it is a breeze to use.
  
  Lots of great grocery stores, bakeries & eateries steps away. Good metro access. We take the blue line train from CDG airport. 8.70 euro. No connections to make. Just get off the train at Les Halles & you're 4 blocks from the apartment. Google map it for easy directions.
  
  Our 1st stay here in Feb 2010, surrounding apt were very quiet. Our 2nd visit we had a fair amount of loud TV & stereo noise late into the night from the other apt in the building.
  
  Joseph, the apt manager was polite and helpful.

  We had a wonderful week in Paris at this apartment and would highly recommend it for couples. It's very comfortable, quiet, well appointed and close to many places of interest. We chose this location as it is close to the market area of rue Montorgueil, a lively area full of wonderful open air food shops, cafes and bars which we loved. If you're interested in cooking in the apartment, then this market area will give a great choice of fresh, beautifully displayed food to take home and try. The kitchen works well for two people.
  The bedding is very comfortable and the apartment was quiet at night. We found it perfect in every way and we would love to be lucky enough to visit there again.

  Perfect location to experience the real Paris

  This turned out to be a fabulous location 1/2 block from the intensely exotic street experience of Rue Montorgueil's open air markets, and many pastry shops and cafes. Easy walking distance to the Etienne Marcel metro stop, and to the Louvre, Notre Dame and Pompidou Center.
  
  Very comfortable and quiet. Bedding was superb. Shower, separate water closet, well equiped kitchen - though we did not cook. Wi-fi worked great. Flat screen TV.
  
  Fortunately we did not need the support staff. the Reservation staff was very helpful in fine tuning our selection, and were able to give some first hand impressions of the unit.
  
  There was nothing in my "liked least" box. What we liked best was the comfort, ease of use, and location. What we needed was a comfortable convenient and economical place to stay for 3 people, as we expected to be quite busy sight seeing. Money saved on hotel (small cramped room (s)) about paid for some very nice dinners, thank you very much.
  
  It was a fabulous first visit to Paris. Hope to start plannign a repeat visit soon. I would definitely stay in this unit again if the bedding situation fits our needs (1 Q BR + 1 Q foldout in living room)

  I spent hours searching the internet for the perfect apartment for our vacation. I think I found it in apartment #79. The staff from Vacation in Paris were professional and easy to deal with.
  
  The apartment was small but perfect for our family of three. It has a great location, we could walk everywhere. It was spotless and the bedding, kitchen, bathroom and furnishings seemed to be recently updated. I would definetly recommend this apartment. The only down side we had was on a Friday night when there was a party in the neighborhood and it was noisy for sleeping. Otherwise it was perfect.

  Staying in this apartment is a wonderful way to "live" in Paris on your holiday. Located on a blocked off street, around the corner from another filled with shops and restaurants, staying here was our perfection for our week in Paris. Close to Metro lines, quiet. Great for a couple or a family with two little children. We would give our children a few euros and send them out for breakfast pastries every morning from the neighborhood bakery.

  Well-designed, modernised and equipped apartment, complete with a superb espresso machine!
  Our only complaint was that it is a bit dark and we had occasional noise from neighbors.
