This building is on the banks of the Seine River- oh so central! Between the Louvre and Chatelet, many people will instantly recognize the "sidewalk where they sell all the plants, birds, & pets", which is a great place to call home base since most important sites, convenient transport and plenty of shopping and restaurants are outside your door! Imagine stepping out of the building each day to have right in front of you, views of such eye-popping wonders as the Eiffel Tower, the Conciergerie on the small river island, the bridges, the 'bookenists' along the ri...Read more

Sydney, AustraliaFantastic Location but let down by poor maintenance
Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The location of this apartment is fantastic, walking distance to the Louvre, on the Seine riverbank, easy access to a number of metro and bus stops. I chose this apartment for my family of four as it had 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, as most 2BR apartments only have 1 bathroom. The reviews for this apartment on the VIP website were glowing, so it is hard to reconcile how our experience has been so different to others. Unfortunately our experience was let down by maintenance problems. The shower in one of the bathrooms was not able to be used as the water temperature was not able to be maintained, cycling through warm and then cold phases continuously, with the shower recess being very small, you couldn't even get out of the way of the cold water when it hit. So we were reduced to only being able to use the shower in one bathroom.
The lighting in the bedrooms is very dim, no ceiling lights, just a couple of low intensity lamps. During our 7 night stay, one of the power points in the main bedroom stopped working, so we had to plug one lamp into a powerpoint in the loungeroom next door to enhance the lighting. It did make packing at night more difficult.
The small dishwasher is tucked away as part of the upright stove and oven combination, so I did not find it for a few days, which was actually lucky, as when I was talking to the local manager about our shower problems he told me it was broken and definitely not to use it, as it would flood the floor. If that was the case, a message indicating this should have been passed on to us at the start of our rental.
The wooden floors are sooo loudly creaky, that if anyone gets up through the night to use the bathroom, everyone else in the apartment can certainly know about it.
The hot water system in the kitchen is very noisy, regular bouts of clanging noise. As the apartment is compact this noise is heard throughout. This greatly disturbs your sleep. We don't have this sort of system at my home, so I don't know if this is normal amount of noise or if there was a problem with the system.
I did email VIP when the shower problem arose, and their local manager did ring to find out more information which was good. He offered to send a tradesman to look into the shower problem but by then we were half way through our stay anyway so I declined. We stayed around the New Year period. I thought it may involve more than a simple repair, and best done when the apartment was vacant.
My experience with dealing with VIP and the booking process was great, but I would choose a different apartment next time. We paid an average of $380 us per night so expected more, at least everything in good working order anyway. I noted down all our problems on the feedback sheet of paper in the apartment when we checked out, so hopefully these maintenance issues have been corrected. -

This apartment was a great value for the money and location, less expensive than a hotel, and much more enjoyable. This allowed us to feel as if we were living in Paris for the time we were there, not just staying for a few days in a hotel.
I would stay here again, would rent from Vacation in Paris without a doubt in the future. Great experience on all levels. -

Recently we stayed at ID #164 Riverbank. This was our 14th trip and second time booking an apartment through vacationinParis.com and have already reserved one for next year. VIP is wonderful!! We like to have different experiences each time we go, so we keep upgrading and trying out different areas; otherwise, we would be happy to stay at #164 again. Pay close attention to square footage whenever you book so you won't be surprised. Amazing what they can do in such small spaces!
Appreciate the fact that there are fourteen million people living there in wonderful old buildings and not expect the spaces, plumbing, noise, machines, etc. to be like they are at home. You're in Paris and will be spending most of the time out and about, but still want a nice comfy place to use as home base. We loved this apartment and location. We prefer the left bank, but it's just across the bridge. Everyone has preferences.
As far as the actual apartment goes, yes, I would pay more attention to details like avoiding crumpled up chair slip covers, making sure the curtains are hanging back on all the top hooks and the cords work, books not shoved haphazardly back into the small open-shelf table. I would upgrade the towels. It's the details that give an apartment a first class impression. But these little details in no way took away from our enjoyment of the apartment. That's just me. Even though it was a bit noisy during the day, mostly because there is a huge renovaton going on next door, we were gone most of the day. It was a great place to return to and only have to walk up one flight of stairs. Also, I loved being close to Pont Neuf bridge. We could walk, take the metro, the yellow open bus, city bus or boat ride from literally steps away from our door. The manager was very nice, and helpful. Don't forget your codes and keys when you go out! Bon voyage! -

This two-bedroom/two-bath apartment was ideal for our week in Paris. The
apartment is located just a few steps from a major Metro stop, less than a
five-minute walk from the Louvre, and close to Ile St. Louis and to Notre
Dame. We loved having a boulangerie nearby so we could have fresh
croissants for breakfast every day.
Modern appliances in the neat, well-equipped kitchen area were a plus. And
we were surprised and delighted with access to toll-free telephone service to
the USA.
Returning to this quiet haven after a day of sightseeing was truly a pleasure.

We are two couples from Australia - found the apartment to be more roomy than expected (particularly for Paris) - everything we needed supplied - very clean - no 'surprises' - and the booking procedure with Vacation in Paris easy and efficient - thanks Donna - loved the central position & surroundings ... would book this apartment again.

Auckland New ZealandGreat apartment in a fantastic location!

We could not have hoped for a better place to stay in Paris! Even though the photos looked lovely, it wasn't until we were there that we realised just what a wonderful place we had rented! The apartment is part of the original buildings, so has all the charm and style of the old buildings, but has been refurbished and has a new kitchen, so was wonderful to stay in.
The location is fantastic! The apartments are arranged around a courtyard which leads to the main doors - these open straight out onto the road by the river - there are numerous plant and pet shops along the road, so it is so beautiful, and of course the view across the river to the old buildings is so picturesque. From the nearby bridge (Pont Neuf?), you can see the Eiffel Tower and it is just a short stroll to the Louvre. It was great to be able to walk around the streets at night feeling so safe (there are armed police around the Louvre as well so it was very safe). There is a wonderful supermarket nearby (the staff were so friendly and helpful, and amused by our feeble attempts at French), and we encountered so many helpful locals (one even leaving his place in the queue at the Post Office to help us!).
It was such a pretty area, we were so lucky to have found it, and it made for a wonderful experience of Paris. So much so, that my son and his girlfriend are visiting Paris this January (2010), and although they won't be staying at this apartment as it is too large for 2 people, they are staying just down the road in a one-bedroom apartment (which has a roof top patio), as the area is so beautiful.
The Vacations-in-Paris people were exceptional!! Prompt replies to queries and fantastic service (my son is booking through them again too!). If ever we are fortunate enough to be able to go bak to Paris, we will ost definitely stay in this apartment again - the combination of wonderful apartment and superb location just made for a perfect stay in Paris!
