This apartment was perfect in every way. It looks exactly like it does in the photographs, with beautiful, original details, but modern finishings. It was very cold and rainy when we were in Paris, but the apartment was always warm and dry, and the rain falling on the skylights was really pleasant. The bed is large and extremely comfortable, and the sheets and duvet are soft and lovely. The bathroom is a good size, and the shower always had plenty of hot water. The towel heaters are such a cozy touch! Also note that the apartment has an elevator up to the 5th floor, and you only need to carry your suitcases up one more floor - this is such a treat in Paris! Michael was a great host, carefully explaining every detail of the apartment. He also left a great collection of architectural walking tours which I think he wrote - we loved using those during our visit. He left fresh flowers, and a delicious bottle of wine. One afternoon we stopped for bread and cheese at nearby shops, and ate that with our wine in the apartment... such a perfect experience. As for the neighborhood: We were very happy to have chosen Le Marais - it feels so quaint to stay on a tiny, cobblestone street, and it's great for window-shopping and people-watching. Try one of the falafel places nearby - and we loved a place called "Les Etages" for cocktails. The Saint Paul metro stop is a very short walk away, but many of the best sites are within walking distance, including Notre Dame, Sainte Chappelle, and the Musee D'Orsay. If you are debating whether to stay in an apartment (versus a hotel), absolutely do it; you get far more for your money and (I think) a much more authentic experience. If you are debating whether to stay in this apartment or another one, choose this one!
Appartement Très Joli
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012 | Michelle
My husband and I just left yesterday and it was hard to pack up and leave this lovely, romantic, quaint and cool studio in the heart of the Marais. The photos posted by the owner are accurate - it is newly renovated with beautiful features - exposed beams, high end bath and kitchen appliances, clean and airy and bright. It is small but when you are in Paris who needs any more space? After spending the day sightseeing and walking about it is such a pleasant place to come home to and relax. The owner was so helpful and pleasant to deal with, explaining how everything worked and providing helpful advice for getting everything we might need while staying in Paris. The location is ideal as there are plenty of shops and markets nearby to pick up delicious bread, cheeses, charcuterie, wines, etc. to bring back for a little snack in this cosy abode. I highly recommend this place and would love to return again very soon!
Beautiful Studio in the Marais
Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012 | DJ
My wife and I stayed in this beautiful studio for a week in September. My wife is a decorator and is incredibly picky about where we stay in terms of architecture, decoration and comfort (she has been known to veto most of my well-vetted recommendations); we've stayed in great hotels around the world (including in Paris). We could not have been happier. This apartment was recently remodeled (very tastefully) and is beautiful (modern, with a mix of antiques and original architectural details), comfortable (the bed was excellent and the bathroom and shower were great) and immaculately clean.
Regarding the location, the apartment is in the heart of the Marais and a beautiful pedestrian street with great food and shopping nearby (it's also a very safe neighborhood). We've been to Paris numerous times and the Marais has always been our favorite neighborhood; it's authentic, incredibly charming, architecturally beautiful and full of wonderful shops. It's also in the heart of Paris, very close to the best cultural attractions. The owner is an excellent host - very friendly and accessible (we needed help connecting to the WiFi network late one night and the owner responded within a few minutes).
I've spent a significant amount of time searching for apartments to stay in while in Paris, and this studio is a gem - the best studio in the Marais.
