A lovely quiet retreat in the heart of the city

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Our stay in the St. Michel Charmer apartment was wonderful. We loved everything about it. The apartment is very quiet yet is only steps away from restaurants, the Metro and Notre Dame, a perfect location. The apartment is well apointed with all the necesities. The bed was comfortable, the feather comforter was perfect to keep us warm. The heaters worked quickly to warm up the apartment when we needed it, as we like to sleep in a chilly room we turned the heaters off at night and also to save electricity when we went out. When we returned to the apartment the heaters returned the rooms to a comfortable temperature quickly.

The photos are a good representation of the apartment, we found them to be very accurate. The stairs are a killer, but we got used to them and found our quiet lovely retreat to be worth the stairs. The landlord was quick to deal with a problem with the phone, so I had confidence that he would be readily available should we need him. Though we had no problems whatsoever during our stay.

My only complaint would be that the number of towels was inadequate, 1 bath and 1 hand towel for each person for a week is insufficient. Two bath and two hand towels for each person of a better quality would be appreciated.

We Loved this apartment and hope to return to it when we plan our next vacation in Paris.

      Amazing Location, Great apartment!!

Left on 02/22/2013 for a stay in November 2012

This location was absolutely perfect. Walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see. And if something wasn't within walking distance, there are several metro stations nearby. When we came back for the night, we didn't even want to go to sleep because we loved walking around the neighborhood. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Paris. This location is a must! The building was very safe and four of us stayed comfortably in this apartment. I can't wait to go back!

      Great apartment, great neighborhood

Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in December 2012

We really enjoyed our stay on Rue Seguier and found the apartment to be exactly as advertised and perfect for our needs. The bed and couch were both very comfortable. The apartment was warm, quiet, safe, and cozy - a perfect respite from busy days out and about. The neighborhood was great - lively, with many restaurants, grocers, bakeries, shops and walking distance to so many tourist destinations. We loved it!

Great apartment in the middle of Paris

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed in this apartment in late September and it was perfect for our needs. We had asked for a crib and it was provided (a pack and play crib with mattress and sheet), and the space was big enough for our 1 year old to run around, but small enough to keep her safe and out of trouble.

When I was looking for an apartment I was looking for something that was in a central location and something that looked good to stay in with a busy child and I feel this apartment was a good match but there were two things that we couldn’t fix (meaning put it up high out of the way!), the TV is very low to the ground so our daughter was tempted to touch it all the time, eventually she got bored of trying and it became a non issue, but it might be a concern for other parents. Also, the bathroom door would not latch shut, so you could easily pop it open by pushing it, that was a concern since we didn’t want our daughter to be in the bathroom, so we just had to really keep an eye on her near that door.

Overall the area is great, and the apartment is very safe, you need to unlock the street door, then the courtyard gate to even get to the apartment stairs, then of course the apartment is locked itself. There are three levels of stairs, no lift, so if that is a concern you should be aware.

The kitchen is small but has all of your needs, great size fridge, stove top, microwave, sink, drying rack, main utensils/dishes. It also has a washer and dryer which was great.

We didn’t use the pull out bed in the couch, but the bed was comfy enough.

WiFi was really helpful, and being able to call our families in the States on the apartment line was great. We enjoyed reading all of the Paris guide books that were provided, especially since we didn’t bring ours with us.

The area is very busy in the evening but the apartment street is very quiet, and the courtyard, where the windows open up to, are very quiet too. Our favorite place to eat was Eric Kaiser which is just a few blocks away.

I would say this apartment is a little tight (and not very private) for four adults, for a family of three like us it was perfect.

Also, working with Vacation In Paris was a very positive experience, I always had quick replies to my emails. We talked to the owner on our last day asking if we could leave our bags in the apartment until we had to leave to catch our train, and she was great about letting us leave the bags there. Great service, really appreciated it.

      Incredible Paris

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011

#180, the St Michel Charmer was essentially ideal. The 73 steps up to the 3rd floor were a bit daunting; but we managed. The apartment is ideally located (in a short one-way street) in an active and fascinating area of Paris and close to all the sites. It was quiet, comfortably appointed with excellent information from the very hospitable hosts.

      More that we expected

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We wanted a simple and clean apartment in the center of Paris, that we could sleep comfortable in.
We got a real charmer, nice and clean, and furnished with everything we needed for a week stay. Fridge, microwave, washer/drier, cooking stove, traditional french coffee machine, free wireless internet, even guide books, better then the ones we had.
Location, what more central can you be? 2 min walk to St. Michel, 5 min to Notre Dame, 15 min to The Louvre.
Secure location, not much of a view, but nice and quiet. Exactly what you need after a day of visiting.

Convenience, Central Location, Value in 6th arrondisement

Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in June 2011

"Charm" is often a euphemism for old. But the St. Michel Charmer, matches a completely modern bath and kitchen with the charm of an older building on a low-key sidestreet.

This unit was perfect for a family of four who wanted to soak in not only Paris attractions, but also Paris atmosphere. Most of the places we wanted to visit (from Louvre to Pantheon to the Pompidou Centre) were within a 20 minute walk radius. At the same time, we were close to neighborhood restaurants, grocers, and food retailers who supported a week of apartment life. For longer trips, you are five minutes from an RER station that serves both CDG airport and Versailles and a metro station.

Another strong point for the property is that, despite being fairly close to a hopping area, it is quiet because it is located on a quiet, narrow side street and the large windows open onto an interior courtyard area. In fact, we slept most nights with the windows open.

The building, with two exterior entrances, is quite secure. While not particularly large, this property was adequate for the four of us as we were in Paris to see things. While it was not an issue for us, it would not be ideal for someone who did not want to climb three flights of stairs.

Because there were no issues and everything was as promised, we had no need to contact the Parisian owner who would have addressed any local issues. Working with Vacation in Paris was extremely pleasant and straightforward.

The next time we go to Paris, we will definitely be interested in this particular property as well as working with Vacation in Paris.

      Location, location, location!

Left on 05/05/2011 for a stay in April 2011

This studio, located in the 6th e on the Left Bank, is a short walk to Notre Dame, Batobus (water taxi), Sainte Chapelle,
the Cluny, St. Sulpice, and the Luxembourg Gardens. There are numerous shops, cafes, and bistros close by, with the hustle and bustle of a busy neighborhood, yet the little street where the flat is located is peaceful. The studio is 300 square feet, but it was plenty of room for my husband and I. I loved the historical touches, with the hand-hewn ceiling beams and one stone wall left from the 17th century. It was also nice to have a washer/dryer. My husband was amazed that I just took a carry-on bag for the week.

      Terrific Location!

Left on 12/20/2010 for a stay in December 2010

My sister and I chose this apartment for her first visit to Paris. My experience with Vacations in Paris was excellent from beginning to end. The apartment was exactly as described and pictured. It is a quiet location on the courtyard where you can't even hear the outside noise. It is a few buildings down from the Seine and located in an excellent area for restaurants and shops. It is also an excellent location for travel to/from the airport as the RER B line goes right to St. Michel.(be sure to enter the La Fontaine entrance on the way back to get tickets). We had to phone the owner when we first arrived for extra sheets and he arrived within minutes! He was extremely charming and concerned that all was well. The bottle of wine was lovely adfter a long trip! The only reason I would not rate it higher is because of the 3 flight of stairs which can be trying after a long day of walking around Paris.
