HoustonA pleasant alternative to Deer Valley/Park City
Left on 02/01/2011 for a stay in January 2011
The Canyons is a great alternative to DV/Park City.
The Resort-The Westgate is a very nice resort with plenty to do and a staff that will bend over backwards for you. Their service was simply fantastic. The layout of the resort is quite odd and you have to go down to the 4th floor, over to Elk building and back up to hit restaurant, game room, ski valet, exit to gondola/rental/ski school...that's about the only downside to the resort. The ski valet is great. Rent your gear and check it in. They'll deliver it to the gondola (and take it from you at the end of the day) or bring it down to your vehicle.
The Condo (Moose building) - It's nicely appointed, everything works, the beds are fine and the condo is kept clean and neat. It's really a two bdrm unit with two other one bedroom units attached to the entry way but it doesn't take away much from the experience. Everything is in the Elk lodge so you have to go from 9th floor to 4th, walk to the next building and then go back up to whatever you want to do. Again, not a biggie but you'll walk a bit inside the resort. The hot tub was filled the day we arrived and was nice to have.
The Food -The Westgate Grill was fantastic. Great prices, excellent service and it was always empty. You can also get food delivered from about 18 different restaurants. We ate at several different restaurants from the top 10 list on this site...all were good.
The Skiing - Everything is located in the big circular courtyard. Ski school, rentals, locker rentals, coffee bar, gondola, ski valet...it's all right there. You can do a bunch of running around and find stuff cheaper or do it all in one shot right there. Lines weren't bad on Sat. Sunday was half the crowd. Dv and Park City are better mountains because they have lots less roads being used as ski runs but The Canyons is still very nice. I got a private instructor for my family (Clinton, a Kiwi) and he was amazing. He had my non skiing 7 year old carving turns on green runs the first afternoon. My wife and I were skiing blues the second day after not having been on skis for over 20 years (we're early 40's). He started us slow, watched over the boys like a hawk, is an excellent teacher and was a pleasure to spend a couple days with skiing.
Other Stuff - We took a break one day and went to Midway to go tubing. It was a great two hour activity, just don't plan a whole day doing it.
Overall - We were tickled about this great little find. We stayed here because we couldn't find a really nice place in DV/Park City for this money. The mountain is fine, the people are awesome and we had an amazing couple days skiing with our little boys and close friends. The level of service from the resort and our happiness with our instructor may just bring us right back next year. I've stayed at Stag Lodge a couple times prior to this and would put The Canyons up against those guys. Well done, folks. -

Laguna Niguel, CaliforniaStunning views & perfect for romantic/family getaways
Left on 12/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We loved staying in this penthouse. We have stayed multiple times at different times through the year. Every season has it's own unique beauty as far as the eye can see. The accommodations are perfect for multi-family get- togethers, with each family able to have their own space with a large & spacious common area. There were a lot of family friendly activities on the property or within a few minutes drive away. We took the wrong elevator a few times from the lobby & from parking, but was easy to find our way back. Other than that we highly recommend this penthouse for all-ages. I think they even supplied a pack-n-play, so we didn't have to drag one on vacation.

Orem, UTRelaxing luxurious accommodations
Left on 11/21/2010 for a stay in November 2010
We are actually still enjoying our stay in the beautiful 4 bedroom/4 bathroom vacation home. We are here with our two little girls (3 months and 2 years) as well as my parents (and possibly my inlaws will join us, too). It is just perfect...from check-in to housekeeping. We came up to get away for a week. While my husband still had to work a bit, we found the internet access to be wonderful, and there was plenty of space for him to work and still give our kids the space they needed to play, nap, etc. The front-desk staff was helpful and curteous. Even the maintenance/engineering staff helped point us in the right direction when we got lost on our way to the Kids Club. Which brings me to the activities/Kid's Club. Although our children were too young to be at the Kid's club (It's actually a licensed day care for kids over 3 years old), the activities staff still tried their best to entertain/cater to my 2 year-old. She enjoyed such activities as Story time for the little ones, face painting, games, and of course the pool. There are several pools aside from the jacuzzi tub on the deck. All pool areas are clean and well maintained. The home itself is very well maintained, too. It is beautifully decorated and has a flat-screen TV and DVD player for each room. The kitchens and washer/dryer in the unit makes life easy and convenient (especially for a family with little children). Last of all, we really enjoyed the steam showers after going skiing and snowboarding. If you've never used one, they are really nice! All in all, it has been a fantastic stay!

Aliso Viejo, CAGreat place to stay at with a family
Left on 11/14/2010 for a stay in April 2010
I stayed here with my husband and four young children in april 2010 for 4 days. We didn't know what to expect booking it online but we were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The condo is very large and spacious and has great views from every room. There is also a large kitchen and a washer and dryer (which is a lifesaver when you are traveling with kids). The resort has a lot of amenities, when we wanted to go to Park City we called the front desk and they scheduled a time for us to be picked up by a shuttle. There is also an arcade room that my kids loved and wanted to go to everyday (be careful all of the games can add up quickly).
This is a great place to stay and my kids are always asking when we can go back to the "Moose" hotel. -

We stayed here for a family reunion in the summer. The condo was plush and the resort was beautiful. You can chill at the resort or get out and enjoy the outdoors. Literally 2 min walk to the gondola. Easy access to great hiking and mtn. biking opportunities. There is some amazing tails to ride...sweet single track through beautiful aspen forests and some great downhill. It was a great vacation...the whole family loved and looks forward to going back someday.

All I can say is this place is awesome! My wife and I and a group of our close friends have stayed here twice. The first time was during the summer for the 4th of July. We played golf, mountain biked and enjoyed fireworks from our balcony. We had such a great time we had to come back for some skiing, which was great too. The condo is super nice, very clean and upscale. The views from top story were incredible, and proximity on the mountain made it easy for us to get around for skiing; not to mention restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite part was hanging out in the hot tup after a long day of skiing and relaxing while enjoying the view. We'll be back for sure.

Everything about our vacation here was perfect!! The service at the front desk was great. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well from the time we arrived. The views outside are beautiful. The hot tub was great and we loved being in it after dark and looking into the sky to see the stars and beauty of the night. The pools and tennis courts were clean and well maintained. We were there for 4 days and it was a great get away from the normal city life that we lead. I can't say enough about how awesome this place was!!!

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in September 2010
My husband and I came here to get away just for the weekend and had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend coming here. The condo was extremely nice with a gorgeous view. There's so much to do there and the condo was huge with so much space. There's a big kitchen and fridge's in every room with a big screen tv in every room as well. I fell in love with the place as soon as I walked in the door. It exceeded my expectations!!! Will definitely come back and I can't wait to!

This condo was a perfect place to stay for our vacation. It has a great view of the beautiful mountains along with a heated swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, a private hot tub and more. The rooms are large and quiet, and the kitchen was well equipped with what we needed. I would stay here again.

Left on 11/08/2010 for a stay in January 2009
This is the top floor presidents suite. It feels huge and everything is on one floor. Plenty of towels, and extremely close to the resort, like 50 yards. Also, the views were really amazing. There are 3 units with 4 total bedrooms so it made it great for us and th etwo families we traveled with to all be able to stay together. We didnt need a car, everything was great. Make sure you ask for a midstay cleaning.
