  Terrible! Dishonest Owner accused us of stealing!

  This was the first time in 8 years of Park City renting we had a negative experience. The owner makes you pay the entire security deposit up front (he actually cashes the check and says he returns it after). I thought this was a bit odd, but we liked the photos so we went with it.
  
  But after our stay he kept the deposit. He said the house was in total disarray and it took his cleaning crew 12 hours to clean the place. He even accused of stealing sheets! None of us have king size beds, why would we steal sheets? And 12 hours? For an entire cleaning crew? There was some mess and clutter (reasonable for 10 ppl), but one of us could have easily cleaned it all in an hour or two. Certainly not 12 hours for an entire crew!
  
  Bottom line it was his plan to keep the deposit all along. That's why the phony trumped up charges. We argued back and forth but he refused to relent. I said if he was going to keep the deposit that he should provide receipts for the "extra" work, the cost of the allegedly "stolen" sheets, etc. He finally did provide a bill from his cleaning crew but it was for less than our deposit amount. It also didn't include receipts for the sheets he supposedly had to "buy”. Not to mention that "cleaning fee” was included in our original price. He ignored my last few emails and I don't think I will ever see that deposit.
  
  Park City Rentals By Owner was no help either. I thought they might get involved and help settle this issue, as we live far away in NY. But they ignored my emails. Beware of this owner. The place may *seem* like its well priced, but you get what you pay for. I had a funny feeling the first time we spoke on the phone and he mentioned this policy he would try to keep the deposit. Always trust your instincts! Stay away from this owner!!
  
  There were other problems with the house but this one takes the cake. We won't be renting from him or Park City RBO ever again. Stay away!
