Cottage Profile This cottage offers the feel of "Muskoka" and the ruggedness of Georgian Bay. It is located at the mouth of the Moon River in the scenic 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay. The cottage is semi-detached, next to the cottage owner's residence, and is part of a small fishing and cottage resort with rental cabins on the small property. The Moon River flows from the Town of Bala on Lake Muskoka to Georgian Bay south of Parry Sound. The Moon River area consists of endless bays and channels. The cottage is about 2 hours north of Toronto and is part of a small fishing and cottage resort. It is perched on top of the smooth Canadian Shield... granite rock shore line and offers a breathtaking view of the bay, amazing sunsets, a dock for swimming, and beautiful waterfalls nearby. It makes a great vacation getaway choice for couples or small families! You will travel a cottage road through the forest and arrive at the cottage where you will find a parking area conveniently located close to the cottage entrance. From the cottage entrance it's up a set of stairs to a good-sized open living room and kitchen/dining area with plenty of bright windows, two cozy futon couches, a TV, VHS player, coffee and end tables, and a patio door leading to an elevated front deck overlooking the bay and forested Crown Lands. In the dining area there is a table and chairs that comfortably seat six people and there are three stools for extra seating. The kitchen has a window over the sink and is equipped with dishes, cutlery, pots/pans, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The open concept allows for easy conversation between those in the living room, dining room, or kitchen. On this level there is also a four-piece bathroom with sink, toilet and a Jacuzzi tub with shower. On the upper level there are three bedrooms and a two-piece bathroom with sink and toilet. The large main bedroom has a double bed, sofa, and patio door leading to a small private deck with an outstanding view of the bay and surrounding forests. In the second bedroom there is a double bed and window with views of the bay. In the third bedroom there is one double and two single beds. There is plenty of room on the front deck at the cottage. It is perfect for taking advantage of the water view and sunsets, socializing, catching up with family members, or relaxing with your book and/or favourite vacation beverage. There is a patio table with umbrella and four chairs, and a lounger. It's a convenient morning coffee spot or perfect for a relaxing evening dinner. There is also a gas BBQ for grilling up some great feasts. The deck makes a perfect gathering spot for the cooks. It's just a short walk from the cottage to the fire pit and bay below. At the fire pit you will find plenty of bench seating, making this a great place to sit by an evening fire to roast marshmallows and share stories at the end of the day, and experience the incredible evening stars. At the shore there are several docks, and canoes and aluminum boats with motors available for rent. There is also a dock where you can jump into the water for a swim or try your hand at fishing from the dock. Note - There are no stairs down to the shore and docks. You must walk on the rock. The rock is relatively smooth and some may find that the rock slope is not easy to walk up and down. With several provincial parks, over 30,000 islands and an abundance of inland lakes and rivers, the region is an outdoor lover's paradise with plenty of fishing, boating, paddling, walking, and hiking opportunities or you can simply enjoy the scenery and experience the vibrant fall colours. Relax and enjoy the scenery on a 30,000 Island boat cruise aboard the Island Queen or the M.V. Chippewa III. Enjoy the view from above as you soar overhead on a flight-seeing adventure with Georgian Bay Airways or "Fly & Dine" to the famous Henry's Fish Restaurant. Experience the spectacular Canadian Shield scenery with Bear Claw ATV Tours. Maybe you would like to take a swing at the local golf greens. If you are looking to do a little exploring try Geocaching - it's a fun exercise that you and the whole family can enjoy. Be sure to visit the small town of Bala, the Cranberry Capital of Ontario. You may be sharing the use of the dock, fire pit and grounds with other renters.
