Description from the manager

This beautiful stone-built cottage has a wonderful designer bathroom and two comfortable bedrooms – one double and one single. Attached to the owner's farmhouse, this delightful stone built cottage is situated in a lovely valley that overlooks the River Nidd, just a few minutes walk from Pateley Bridge. The property is a traditional Yorkshire cottage offering single floor accommodation and wonderful country views. The snug, warm sitting room is a great place for a relaxing evening, whilst the modern kitchen-diner is a fantastic place to cook up a storm. This is a great vacation spot for a small family or a romantic break. With Harrogat...Read more

This was our 2nd visit to River View and we had a fantastic week in May, being lucky to experience one of the few warm and sunny periods this summer. The cottage is excellently furnished and equipped with all that could be possibly required. The owners Sue & Joe were the perfect hosts, always on hand if required.
We have already booked again for next year.

River View is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. A truly warm welcome from Sue and Joe started our holiday and a lovely welcome tray to help us on our way.
The Cottage is fantastic and a credit to Sue and Joe, it was immaculate in its decor and cleanliness. beautiful views from the cottage and great walks from the door. Quiet and peaceful, with every kitchen gadget you could need - if you like to cook - to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Pateley Bridge is a lovely village with plenty of shops, try the pies from the butchers they put Greggs to shame.

This cottage is not much to look at from the outside but inside it is very well furnished and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owners are just next door and very friendly.

Left on 03/19/2011 for a stay in March 2011

The best cottage we have have stayed in -and we have stayed in lots. Beautifully cleaned to a very high standard, extremely well-equipped by very thoughtful hosts who had thought about what their guests would like. Sue and Joe were perfect hosts, a warm welcome then respected our privacy. Good location, a lovely base for touring outside Pateley Bridge and lots to do. Wish we had had at least another week. Overall very impressed with this cottage. We read the reviews but couldn't believe a cottage could be that good. Now we know it is.

This cottage has it all. Exceptionally clean and comfortable, equipped to a very high standard, the owners should be commended for the quality accomodation they provide. We received a very warm welcome and were looked after from start to finish. We have stayed in many self-catering establishments and none come anywhere close to River View. The setting is peaceful, with beautiful views from every window. It really is idyllic with a lovely river walk on the doorstep. We loved it so much we rebooked immediately on our return home. Can't wait!

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in November 2010

This was our second stay with Sue and Joe Frith and we are now looking at booking a 3rd. We had never visited Yorkshire prior to our first visit in 2009 - but can't wait to go back. The accommodation is first class, exceptionally clean and well equipped to do as little or as much as you want in the kitchen - every appliance you could wish for. The bedding and bathroom exceptional with pure white fluffy towels and nothing is too much trouble for Sue and Joe - a lovely couple. The position of the cottage is perfect for walking or travelling to local areas and Pateley Bridge a typical picture book village within easy walking distance.
There is also a Leisure Centre close by where you can swim, but we have not found the time in our last 2 visits - too busy enjoying the lovely countryside around Pateley Bridge.

My husband and I can't wait for our next visit - in particular good in September when you can visit the Nidderdale show

      Perfection!

Left on 06/06/2010 for a stay in April 2010

Having stayed at a selection of Sykes Cottages already, I expected a high quality of cleanliness & the cottage to be well equipped, but this cottage surpassed my expectations.
The owners, who lived next door, were very friendly & helpful. The cottage had everything you could need - in fact, the kitchen is better equipped than my own!
It is an ideal location to explore the surrounding area with lots to see & do a short drive away, as well as excellent walking country.
The village of Pateley Bridge is wonderful - full of friendly, welcoming people, good places to eat & a variety of shops. I would recommend going to the Methodist Church - you'll be amazed at the inside after seeing the outside!
This is by far the best cottage we've ever stayed at and would definitely recommend it.

Spotlessly clean and very well presented, the welcome gift of cakes, tea, coffee, newspapers etc was a nice touch.Although Pately Bridge is a bit out of the way, there were plenty of places to visit within a radius of 20 miles, excellent walking location. We will definitely be going back to this Cottage.

Left on 12/03/2009 for a stay in October 2009

This was our second visit to this property, and certainly won't be the last. The owners live next door and are the most friendly, welcoming people we have ever met. It's a lovely part of the country, stunning scenery and great walks straight from the doorstep. If you like peace and quiet, then we would highly recommend this cottage.

The cottage is set next to the owners farmhouse just outside Pateley Bridge. Apart from a tumble dryer (which isn't really needed as the place is so cosy, the clothes dried quickly anyway), there is everything you need in the cottage and much more besides. The owners are fantastic, and will give you the best welcome ever.

There is access directly from the property to the pathway alongside the River Nidd into town. It only takes 5 - 10 mins walk, but can be a bit wet (also need to avoid the sheep pats!) Pateley Bridge itself is a quaint little place, not alot there apart from several tea shops. We can recommend the Chinese/Japanese at the Apothacary House, delicious, but restaurant only open a couple of evenings a week. There's a pleasant walk further along the river to the Yorkshire Winery, where they serve decent, tasty lunch. Not a lot of places to eat in the evening, though there are 2 Indian takeaways and a Chippy. There is a Spar shop which sells just about everything and is open until late at night. Although the caravan site is very close, we never heard any noise even in the summer when it was full of kids. There is a lovely playground for the kids, as well as a litle museum (although we didn't think it was that great, our 9 year old loved it so much we went there twice!) Our favourite day out is definitely Fountains Abbey, we've been there several times and they always do a trail for the children, which our boy adores. We also visited Lightwater Valley (normally the kind of place we would hate) but it was great, quiet with hardly any queues at all and lots of rides(the food was dire & extortionate though).
