Athens, GAPerfect home, location and price.
Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The Haines house proved to be the perfect home for our 3 week October visit to Pawleys. It featured a back porch with a swing, a front screened porch, an open deck, and was very comfortably furnished. Even though it's located across the street from the creek on Myrtle ave.,it has a great covered private dock where we toasted the georgeous sunsets each evening. Just around the corner was 2nd St which allowed a straight shot to the public access walkway and the beach. The home allowed pets and our dog had a blast! With a nice outdoor shower and garden hose, keeping him clean was easy. Benjy's across Hwy 17 provided great doggie daycare. Bicycling on Pawleys & Huntington beach state park was wonderful, too, especially during the off season. I must also mention the awesome Lachicotte staff. When we first arrived I had a time sensitive report to complete. The staff made copies for me and even scanned a document and emailed it to my computer. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

This house has been our vacationplace for our family for the past 40 years . We have five generations whom have stayed and enjoyed it. This year the newest addition was 1 month old and loved every minute of it. We love the changes the house has gone through and esecially enjoy our pier and creek time after staying on the ocean for our first week!! The quiet side of Pawleys! How relaxing!!!

First of all dealing with Lachicotte was very professional. Any problems or questions that we had were answered very quickly and professionally.
The home was perfect for our 4 month stay on Pawley's Island. Big enough for the 2 of us , and the times we had company but not too large.
The location between the beach and creek was almost perfect. It could only have been better if we were directly on the beach.
Haines 222 is an older beach house that has been modernized in many ways but retains it's beach house charm. If you are looking for a big fancy rental, this is not for you. If you want comfort and charm , this is the place.
In addition the house is less than a mile from rt. 17 where anything anyone could want or need are located, without the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach.
The restaurants in the area vary from burger and beer type to very nice places to eat.
Our favorites were: Island Cafe & Deli,Pawleys Island Tavern, aka the pit, Bistro222, Hanser House, Pastaria 217,and 2 Mexican restaurants close by.
There are 4 supermarkets within a couple of miles north and south on 17 but make sure you try the Fresh Market, for a shopping experience. There are about a dozen topnotch golf courses within a few miles of Haines also, if you're a golfer.
All in all it was a perfect location. -
Disappointed Regular
Silver Spring, MDShabby, with little redeeming charm.
Left on 10/03/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This is an older Pawley's house, which is fine, but the palmetto bugs were out of control; the boardwalk was rotting; the throw rugs in one room had clearly been used to rest crab pots on; small things were broken and in disrepair all over. The management company was slow to respond. How long had it been since the owners visited?

Spartanburg, SCPre Hugo Feeling
Left on 07/16/2010 for a stay in June 2010
What a perfectly charming beach cottage! Loved the pre Hugo feel as it is not an enormous glamour home and with the feeling of a well loved family home! Very comfortable and nicely laid out with good kitchen supplies and 2 flat screen TVs. Front screen porch had a large dining table and comfy seating, back porch was shady.2 birdfeeders in back which I kept filled and enjoyed the many different birds each a.m. Enjoyed fishing off the private creek dock, which was a nice change from the beach when the weather became too hot or drizzly. I have a special needs child and appreciated everything being on one floor and not many high steps to climb with her. Lachicotte Realty were a pleasure to deal with and were very accomodating! Hoping to stay 3 weeks in 2011. A+++!

The McCauley/Cline "clam".
Asheville/NYC/FloridaArrogantly Shabby!
Left on 10/28/2009 for a stay in October 2009
Our initial impression was that the cleaning service "overdid" it with the
chemicals. There was a very strong chemical odor for the first day that did
bother my daughters asthma. After the first day the odor was gone. The
house itself was very charming, loved the decor, beds were very comfy, and
bedding was clean. The kitchen was adequately furnished. The crab dock was
very convenient for our love of fishing. We highly recommend Haines 222 if
you don't care to be off the ocean or the creek. We were hoping for a creek
view which we didn't have. We have always stayed on the ocean front and were
hoping for the serenity of the creek for this visit. -

Louisville, KentuckyQuiet and Peaceful Week at the Beach
Left on 07/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We needed to get away and relax. Pawleys Island and Haines 222 provided the perfect place. The house sits in a grove of trees that makes it feel secluded and private. At the same time, the beach is seconds away. And if you don't appreciate the hustle and bustle of the beach, you can slip away to the private dock on the marsh, just out the back door.

Boston, MAOld Fashioned Cottage - Great Location
Left on 05/22/2009 for a stay in March 2009
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and this location is fantastic. Now for the bad news...After a 15 hour road trip, we arrived to find no hot water at the house. The management company was pleasant and tried to be responsive, but problem was not corrected until 36 hours later and required re-wiring of the circuit for the electrical hot water heater, with no financial concession offered. Obviously, this should have been checked prior to our arrival. We also encounted a toilet problem requiring a plumber's attn. Bathrooms are antiquated and require gut rehabs. Kitchen is modern and well supplied with dishes, pots, pans, etc. House's interior is small and on one level. Porches are nice and the private dock on the creek is pleasant for relaxing. We were charged a non-refundable premium for bringing our small dog on the vacation.
