Located at North Litchfield, this home has 5 bedrooms (4 main floor, 1 ground level with private outside access) and 3-1/2 baths (2-1/2 baths main level, 1 downstairs). Bed sizes main floor: 1 king, 1 queen, and 4 singles. Bed sizes downstairs: 1 queen. Screened porch has rocking chairs, couches, swing, hammock and dining area! The Dieter Company was most helpful in finding an ocean front house that gave me what I needed for a family vacation with pets. The house is in a great un-crowded location with easy access to a beautiful beach. It is well-equipped with everything you might need for a pleasant stay. It is located close to whatever attractions might appeal to everyone.
The only downside is the 5th downstairs bedroom, while clean and adequately furnished, is very musty and was not useable by my group. A dehumidifier should be added.

We've rented this house 4 times and put a deposit on it for next year. We love almost everything about it: it's old-fashioned, but renovated; great well-supplied kitchen; nice grill; great layout for families; fantastic location, great beach, wonderful well-furnished porch; comfortable beds; very clean. Every year something is updated, which is wonderful. I grew up staying in places like this, so I feel very at home here. I give it 4 1/2 stars.
What would make it 5 stars? Fix the downstairs bedroom's a/C or just put in a window unit: in summer, it is very hot with poor a/C, as well as musty (very authentic, but not too comfortable). We can't use it, except as an extra bathroom, and I doubt seriously if anyone else can, either, as noted in previous review. (And the rent is for a 5-bedroom house). If our family continues to get bigger, with more grandkids, we'll unfortunately have to go elsewhere. And that will make me very sad, because the owners make it a very special place otherwise, and we all love staying here. -

This is a well-appointed and maintained home in an ideal location. The beach is gorgeous, wide and uncrowded and just steps away from the house, along a wooden pathway with steps down to the sand. Walk on the beach, swim in the surf, enjoy the local seafood, shopping and Brookgreen Gardens. We even saw a newly-hatched loggerhead turtle making its way to the ocean, courtesy of the "Turtle volunteers" that help ensure their safety! Truly a beautiful place for families.

For the money, there really needs to be some repairs done. The screened porch is wonderful.A/C was not working well on one side of the house. Love the outside showers.

This home has any ultra-efficient geothermal unit and there is only one local company that is able to provide repair service. Recently the coil on the unit was replaced and everthing is working well at this time.

Leaving behind the winter snows of Maine, we truly enjoyed the comfort of Pelican Watch. The full moons rising above the surf, the glorious sunrises and our daily beach walks left us feeling refreshed and inspired. The sun "pit" always is warm, the gazebo is the perfect place to watch the playful dolphins, and the roadside porch has late afternoon sun for appetizers and beverages.
The "quiet" of the Pawleys Island area is just lovely. Our daily visits to Brookgreen Gardens and the emergence of spring flowers all around is the perfect antidote to a snowy winter.
Pelican Watch has plenty of room for family guests, however is equally as comfortable when just the two of us. We look forward to returning again and again! -

This house was a great fit for our family group. The kitchen was big enough that we could all get around in it with space to spare. It wasn't so fancy and new that our kids had to walk on pins and needles. All appliances were updated and worked well except for the stove which was pretty old. It worked okay, though. Mattresses were firm enough and in good shape. Best feature of this house is the large screened porch on the ocean side. Worst feature is dueling thermostats for the two sides of the house are both located in the main living area, and NOT in the bedrooms on either side. It was impossible to keep all the bedrooms cool enough at night. This feature did not detract from our stay very much, but it was a minor annoyance.

I CHECKED THIS HOME AS A 5 STAR RESIDENT. HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE A COUPLE OF ITEMS THAT HAVE SLIPPED IN THE TWO YEARS THAT WE HAVE RENTED.
1. MASTER BEDROOM HAS A KING SIZE BED WITH PILLOW TOP MATTRESS. THE MATTRESS PAD IS NOT FORM FITTING CAUSING THE SHEETS TO COME UNDONE AT THE FOOT AND YOU HAVE TO REMAKE THE BED SHEETS EACH DAY.
2. MASTER BATH- SINK WILL NOT HOLD WATER AS PLUNGER IS STILL BROKEN.
3. GAS GRILL- GREAT ITEM FOR THIS HOME- IT NEEDS CLEANING BADLY AS IT DOES NOT GET HOT ENOUGH TO REALLY SEAR A STEAK
4. OUTDOOR LANDSCAPING HAS SLIPPED BADLY. -

The Dieter Company was always very friendly and informative whenever I called to ask about the rental property prior to our arrival. Upon arrival at the office, everything was ready to go and check-in was uneventful.
"Pelican Watch" was in an excellant location in North Litchfield and we thoroughly enjoyed the beach. The house was well equiped from the kitchen to the numerous beach toys, chairs, etc.,and had a wonderful ocean side porch with a large table we all enjoyed.
The reason for the poor rating relates to the basement bedroom. The property is listed as a five bedroom rental. One would assume all bedrooms would be equal in their amenities, but the basement room was not. It was dank, musty smelling and very warm and humid. The couple that were assigned that location could not sleep there, so resorted to couches upstairs. Every time they used the shower, water would flood the bathroom floor. The air conditioner did not keep the room cool. So this was a sore spot in our otherwise wonderful week at the beach at the quaint "Pelican Watch."
