  Our Stay At Litchfield Retreat #610

  This was our second stay w/Litchfield Retreat, the first time in a different unit. While #610 afforded better views of the ocean and was roomier with a better floor plan, we did encounter some problems. First off, the unit was not clean to our expectations upon arrival. We were told by Dieter Co. that the unit owners had been there previously and had opted to clean the condo themselves in order to avoid the cleaning cost. The kitchen and bathrooms were not satisfactorily cleaned and the flooring throughout the unit was less than optimal. The carpet in the unit is obviously quite old and in serious need of cleaning -- ultimately, it needs to be replaced.
  
  Additionally, we found a chair to be broken in the living room (this known by the owners since they left a sign on it indicating that it should not be used) and the patio door vertical blinds in the living room malfunctioned so that they could not be closed to block out direct sun during the hottest parts of the day. These issues were addressed during our stay, but nevertheless, should have been dealt with prior to rental guests arriving. While the unit is comfortable and somewhat attractive in its beach motif decor, the interior is outdated and could use an update.
  
  We were also disappointed with the linen situation (linens provided by Dieter Co.). Since we purchased the full unit package, the linens were delivered to the unit, as opposed to our having to pick them up upon check-in. To our dismay, the towels and bed linens were dumped in the front hallway and we were then responsible to make all the beds and distribute towels in the bathrooms. It was my understanding, based on the phone conversation when booking the unit that the linens would already be on the beds. Also, the linens for the king size bed in the master bedroom did not fit – it seemed as though the sheets were intended for a queen size bed. Perhaps I was misinformed or maybe I misunderstood; however, I would think for the price of the linen package and the condo rental itself, the beds would have been made upon our arrival. This is the only vacation condo I've ever stayed in anywhere that does not provide this service (i.e., linens are provided only if purchased and the guest has to make beds upon arrival and then strip beds prior to departure).
  
  As for the Litchfield area and the beach, it couldn't be nicer. We love the area and will likely return. Whether we choose to work with Dieter Co. and the Litchfield Retreat property is questionable.

  We love the Litchfield Retreat complex. This condo was beautiful, great view,clean,and spacious. The complex has the beach across the street,pool grills and in a nice location.

  Tired of 610

  My family or a family that is part of our vacation group has
  rented this unit for the last 20 years. In fact until 2 years ago
  someone in our group rented 609 as well. In that time very few
  improvements have been made. The furniture, rug and beds are
  all well over due for replacement. Other units in the Retreat
  have been upgraded, but this unit has not.
  As such I will be coming back to Litchfield next year and will not
  be returning to 610. I vacation with a large group of families
  and told them I was giving up the unit and told them they could
  have it. None of them were interested.

  we were extremely comfortable in this condo unit...the view was incredible..litchfield retreat is always maintained so beautifully...we hope to return this year...in the past we've always rented homes in north litchfield but have decided we enjoy staying at litchfield retreat much more
