We booked Elton Old Hall in order for the whole family to be together for Graham's 70th birthday. We wanted luxury for all the family and that is certainly what we got and more. The house was beautifully furnished and equipped and there was not one thing we looked for that wasn't there every small detail had been thought about and even the weather behaved itself!!
Derbyshire is the most beautiful area and there are many exciting things to do for all ages - the perfect place for a varying age range.
There was absolutely nothing negative to say about this lovely home and we are so grateful that Juliet and Martin were happy to share it with us. Many thanks for a wonderful time. -

Left on 04/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We had a thoroughly enjoyable family get together with family ranging from 5 years old to the 80-year old birthday boy - the reason for our celebration!
The rooms are all different, giving it character, spotlessly clean and the whole house well-presented throughout.
The kitchen is great for dining together (remember your slippers though! - whilst the house is warm, the traditional flagstone kitchen floor stays cool).
The conservatory is lovely for light & warmth - even when we were there on a cold april weekend.
a lovely stay . recommend it. -

I booked Elton Old Hall for a relaxing hen weekend (15 of us in total) and Juliet could not have been more helpful throughout the planning. She replied to all my queries quickly and provided advice throughout. Thank you Juliet for the flowers and chocolates too - a lovely touch for the bride to be!
Elton Old Hall is a wonderful house - the photos do not do it justice! It is beautiful and in a perfect location for those that enjoy country walks and a potter around small villages. -

ReadingPerfect venue for a large family celebration
Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We were looking for a luxurious venue for a very special family event.A suitable house in a lovely location that could accommodate our family of 12 and in a Central England location easily accessed by all.
Firstly, all the bedrooms were special and made us all feel like we were staying in a luxury hotel. Secondly, the lounge had lots of character, especially with the log fire burning, and comfortably seated all of us for after dinner drinks. Thirdly, the Conservatory was warm in the sunshine whatever the weather outside.
We hired a chef one night to cook an anniversary dinner for us 'in-house' and which worked brilliantly, esp in the spacious kitchen. Recommend that to anyone!
The house is located 950 feet up in Elton, a quiet but larger village than we first thought. Everywhere we walked the views were amazing.
It suited our purpose perfectly. The only (very) minor blip, the kitchen struggled to get warm in the mornings and evenings, but then this was the coldest winter for 50 years.

We stayed at Elton Old Hall for the New Year, and it was ideal for our family get together of 8 adults plus one 5 year old. Martin and Juliet were very helpful and they altered the sleeping arrangement to provide 6 double bedrooms and we still had 2 singles spare!
The house is very well appointed and the conservatory is a bonus!

The communication from point of enquiry was superb. Juliet was extremely informative and accommodating.
The accommodation itself was 5*, we couldn't have asked for a more fitting venue to celebrate. Everything about the place, including all furnishings oozed quality. It a great winter retreat but equally i would definitely consider returning for a special occasion in the summer.
Unfortunately, i have no constructive feedback as to how our experience/ accommodation could be improved.
Excellent finishing touches (e.g. substantial box of chocolates and drink on arrival) were much appreciated!

We stayed at Elton Old Hall for my 30th birthday party; the house is lovely - very large, warm and welcoming and the log fire is great for the colder winter days. The bedrooms are very comfortable and there was plenty of space in the huge kitchen for everyone.
The house has lots of amenities - stereo, DVD player, Sky, board games and lots of info on the area. We used one of the house guide books to head out for a walk in the nearby countryside; there are a few villages close by and Matlock is only about 10 mins drive away.
All in all, it was a great weekend and the house was perfect! -

We wanted a location to celebrate a special long birthday week-end with 5 other couples in the Peak District. Elton Old Hall ticked every box and did not disappoint. The house itself was very well equipped, bedrooms lovely and being able to go on several walks direct from the house (books provided) was a huge bonus as several of us had driven a long way to get there. The owner gave us several tips including the recommendation of local caterers. We chose one who cooked and then cleared away a fabulous meal. Several good local pubs and cafes! Can highly recommend

I booked this on the internet and found that communications were excellent.Once booked I received an excellent pack of information detailing the house itself, surrounding areas, places of interest, the village itself and activities for children and older people!
On arrival,we had a very warm welcome from Martin who encouraged us to use the house as our home. There were no petty restrictions. The house was very spacious, comfortable ,with a touch of grandeur and steeped in history. the kitchen was incredibly well equipped with simply everything that one might need.We loved the huge table which would easily seat 14 people,Juliet and Martin had left wine and chocolates for us!
The bedrooms were large,en suite, comfortable with high quality bedding. The main sitting room was large, comfortable and had a log burning stove .Great! Also an ample supply of logs. The garden was a delight with little hiding places for the children.Would I like to own this home? Yes!
Elton Old Hall is in the centre of Elton a delightful village to walk around and near to Winster which houses a shop and is also interesting, Elton Old Hall is very near to Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Matlock all places of huge interedt. It is a walkers paradise and there are many lovely walks to be had directly from Elton Old Hall itself.
We booked Elton old Hall for a family birthday celebration. The house was superb both for adults and children andChatsworth farm and adventure playground provided the children with a whole day's fun on the Saturday.
I would highly recommend a stay at Elton Old Hall.It is grandeur, luxury and comfort all rolled into one! -

Had a fantastic time celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary with friends from Dublin, Scotland and UK. Accommodation is brilliant, and didn't find anything 'not there'. All in all it's a Great venue for a special function - and you must visit the pub in the village...

Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in September 2012
This is a very well equipped and furnished house which suited our party of 14, ranging in age from 70 down to 14 months, perfectly. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms. We used a little bit of background heating, very efficient, but the weather was good and we did not need to light the fire. Booking was easy and on arrival Martin met us, showed us the essentials and then left us to settle in - just right.
The location in the middle of the country is very good for people travelling from different areas, and Derbyshire is stunningly beautiful. We took everyone up Mam Tor, which does require a drive, but we also enjoyed good walks straight from the house, the Limestone Way passes quite close, and on the Chatsworth estate. Most of our party spent Sunday morning cycling on the Monsal Trail, some with their own bicycles and some with hired ones. Every sort of child friendly bike arrangement is available.
We brought our own food which included basics and treats from the Chatsworth Farm Shop. There is plenty of storage space in the kitchen and pantry and the cooking facilities are just right. Lots of nice white crockery and children's things too. And so sensible to have two kettles and two teapots! -

Our family held a family reunion at Elton Old Hall to celebrate our daughter visiting from australia with her new daughter. The house was very spacious for the grand-children to run around and play with all the games & toys provided, the bedrooms were well equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen/dining area was brilliant for us all to sit and enjoy meals together. The welcome gifts were enjoyed by everyone in the evenings. We enjoyed the many walks around the area with loads of informative leaflets. The scenery was fantastic. I have fallen in love with the area & will definitely visit there again. Loved Chatsworth House.

We loved everything about Elton Hall.
The property is full of character and really well laid out so that there is plenty of space and opportunities for everyone to be together but also plenty of space for smaller groups to do different things too. Small touches like the welcome gifts on arrival make a difference too
The local area provided so much for everyone in our group - great mountain biking and road biking from the door, childrens playgounds,Gulliver's kingdom fantastic country walks, pubs and of course a fabulous day out at Chatsworth - where again everyone enjoyed different elements of it.
We loved it as a family and would definitely consider returning

My party of 12 (with ages from 15 months to 60), had a lovely long weekend at Elton Old Hall for my 60th birthday.
The house is beautiful and well equipped in all respects for a large party, attention to detail is spot on, hosts are very helpful.
We spent a lot of time in the kitchen with its large refectory table and self supporting arched fire place which is perfect for a large group meal. We also all managed to fit comfortaby into the lounge to watch tennis.
I really cannot fault Elton Old Hall, and would recommend other visitors to get out and about in Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton, all of which are nearby (longest distance is about 30 mins by car).
Siiting in the conservatory in the moring, looking out over the beautifully manicured walled garden with a cup of tea was perfection. -

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This is a wonderful house, my friends and I have been meeting up every year for over a decade and this is by far the best venue yet. The house is beautifully decorated and thoughtfully furnished- the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with everything you could need. Our group was a mix of couples and young children and the house had something for everyone.
The children loved the garden, the playhouse and trampoline proved big hits. The weather even in June/ July wasn’t great but we were quite happy to while away the hours gathered around the kitchen table drinking tea. Elton isn’t the lively village, there is a pub (with curious opening hours) however it is close to lots of lovely walks and attractions. We managed to spend a great afternoon at Chatsworth, we took the children (1-7yrs) to the farm and adventure playground. Overall, a really fantastic house, full of lovely touches- we will definitely book again. -

We rented Elton Old Hall for my mother's 80th birthday. As well as my mother there were 3 families with 6 grandsons. The children had a fantastic time playing in the secret garden and in each other's rooms in the house and we enjoyed wonderful family meals all seated together in the large kitchen. I would really recommend Elton for families wanting to holiday together. There is so much space for everyone, loads of bathrooms, a secure garden with toys and it's in such a great location. The children loved the day trips to Chatsworth and the Heights of abraham and there's a play park just down the road.

I had my hen weekend here in June 2012 with old and young alike. The weekend was as near to perfect as it could of been thanks to my family and friends and Elton Old Hall made my hen weekend one which I will never forget.
From the pre booking discussions with Juliet to the chocolates and wine which were left for our arrival, the communication was first class, with help and advice and excitement building every step of the way. Complete customer satisfaction and of course I have reccomended it to all that I know.
The rooms were all beautifully decorated and very well equiped. The outdoor area was lovely, especially on the sunday when we actually had some sunshine and were able to sip Pimms and Lemonade on the lawn. The kitchen and living area were all comfortable enough for all 15 of us and the kitchen was extremely well equipped for our party.
I honestly cannot rate this beautiful Hall enough and would love to return in the future for another weekend with the girls. Thank you so much Juliet and Martin x -

Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We had a fantastic weekend stay at Elton Old Hall with a group of friends. 6 adults and 6 children all easily accomodated under one roof! The standard of the house is first class and every utensil you could ask for is available (as I discovered when randomly looking for a rolling pin). The kids played happily on the trampoline for hours after a lovely local walk (a bit arduous for three year olds though!) and then on the Sunday we sampled the local soft play centre (very good and also very clean :)) and the cable cars in close-by Matlock (definitely recommend for kids as there is a good adventure playground at the top). Once the kids went to bed we ate as adults and then slouched in front of the fire with lots of wine. Perfect :) The pub in Elton itself was interesting (outside toilets!) - my hubby and his friends enjoyed it but the ladies in the group weren't so keen :) All in all a fantastic stay and we hope to return next year.

A beautiful 5*house in beautiful surroundings. Elton Old Hall feels like home from the moment you walk in. The owners of the property provide those special little touches that make your stay special.
The area has 101 things to do but we were fairly chilled out and ventured on a few walks straight from the front door, of which there were many walks to choose from. The children enjoyed all the facilities and had a ball in the wonderful, safe walled garden.
We ate out at the Old Bowling Green in Winster, which is the cutest village 1 mile down the road. Gorgeous pub food and a very friendly reception.
I would certainly recommend large families and groups of friends get together here. It's a little slice of heaven. Ps: the beds are seriously comfortable!! -

The house was outstanding, we couldn't have wanted for more with respect to home comforts, kitchen essentials and information and recommendations of things to do during our stay. Elton is a beautiful setting and we had a great meal at one of the pubs which was an easy walk away. It would be ideal for a family get together, or even a group gathering or hen party. We had some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside too, and there was adequate parking. A very enjoyable stay.

We visited Elton Old Hall for a surprise 60th Birthday Party with 12 adults and 7 young children in tow. Julia & Martin were so helpful from the off suggesting how we could accommodate the extra few kids with sleeping bags, and also suggesting activities, walks & caterers in the local area.
I was expecting the house to be off high standard, however expectations were far exceeded, the decor throughout is lovely, the house is hugely spacious - not once did we feel overcrowded despite our numbers. There kitchen was a fantastic space, and there were plenty of high quality appliances and utensils. Bedrooms were spacious - we had 4 toddlers in sleeping bags on the floor without affecting the space.
We couldn't have had a better break, Julia & Martin did a great job in keeping the surprise from my step-father whose birthday it was.
I would recommend the property to anyone looking for luxury, large group accommodation.

We were a group of 12 people who stayed at Elton Old Hall to celebrate my 40th Birthday in February 2012.
I spoke to Juliet a few times before we arrived and she was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants. She also managed to get hold of a bag of ice and blender for me for cocktails.
We were met at the house by Martin who showed us round the house and went through everything we needed to know.
The house was spotlessly clean and very well decorated. Everyone was pleased with their rooms - even those that missed out on an en-suite as everyone had their 'own' loo.
The house was perfect for us. Really big and plenty of room for everyone to sit together in the living room and kitchen.
I'll never forget breakfast on the first morning. The 12 of us sitting down the long trestle table with bowls of sausage and bacon and pots of tea and coffee.
The living room was so cosy with the wood burner and we had plenty of wood - I did take a few throws for the leather settee though :-)
We got snowed in on the Saturday evening so had to cancel our plans to eat in the restaurant we'd booked. We didn't have any food or beer in so we spoke to Juliet and she was very helpful again with alternatives. Thank you Shalimar Indian Restaurant!
The only 'complaint' I would have about the house was that it was cold when we got there and took until the Saturday to feel properly warm. Martin had shown us to how to adjust the heating and hot water though so we sorted ourselves out. This was the weekend we got the snow though so it was very cold.
I did feed this back when we left and I know that they're now planning on putting the heating on earlier for arriving guests.
In terms of location, Elton is a lovely village but, although it has its own pub, it's a bit hit and miss when it's open so we ended up walking to the next village.
I would thoroughly recommend Elton Old Hall to anyone and thanks again Juliet and Martin for sharing it with us. -

Lovely welcome on arrival.
Elton Old Hall is a fabulous venue for a get together - spacious, luxurious, relaxing and homely. Kitchen well equipped - everything you could possibly need.
Location is fab - we went to the Speedwell Caverns, Chatsworth House and Bakewell, if we return we have said we would hide all car keys and simply walk though as the area is beautiful.
House was liked by all - 6 adults and 5 children. -

We hired this house to celebrate my son's 18th birthday and could not have been happier. The quality of the property is superb with everything having that touch of quality that makes a stay here something special. The dining kitchen is a great place to spend time with friends and family, the log burner makes for a very welcoming lounge and the bedrooms are all very comfortable.
I have already started recomending this house to friends and very much hope to go back soon. -

LondonThe Perfect Peak District Place.
Left on 09/20/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Elton Old Hall is an ideal place for a family holiday. It is splendidly equipped, immaculately kept and extremely comfortable. It is also very well placed for visiting many attractions in the Peak District as well as for walking.
We all appreciated the little but important touches such as a personal welcome on the chalkboard in the kitchen (and the goodies left for us), the stock of tea, coffee, milk and other essentials ready for us, and bathrooms provided with shower/bath gel, etc. We also appreciated the high standard of cleanliness and comfort throughout the house.
Thank you, Juliet and Martin, for taking so much care to be aware of people's needs and to provide for them so carefully. -

Juliet and Martin made a special weekend into an unforgettable one! From the moment of our initial enquiry all the way through to handing back the keys (and beyond), no request was too much and everything exceeded our expectations.
The hall is beautiful, (the photos hardly do it justice), more than comfortable (even at capacity), and set-up and stocked perfectly for a self-catering trip.
We look forward to an excuse to escape to Derbyshire again and stay at this wonderful home. -

Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Elton Old Hall has a well-equipped, spacious kitchen with a table large enough to accommodate our party of 14 comfortably. The whole house is beautifully presented, extremely clean and the bedrooms are very comfortable. We enjoyed the reasonably-sized garden; the children played ball and the whole party ate out on the 2 picnic benches on the Sunday. We tended to use the conservatory to sit in on an evening because we preferred that to the sitting-room, which felt less welcoming but is probably very cosy with the fire on in colder weather. The property is well-situated with very good walks from the doorstep and within easy reach of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Bakewell. We had a good pub meal at The Bowling Green in the next village. We would definitely like to return.

Elton old Hall is a superb location for a family get together - it is 5 star and the owners ensure everything is in order and also act quickly on any feedback to make Elton old Hall even better. The village of Elton is a quiet Derbyshire village with superb walks nearby and a fantastic traditional pub with quality beer and a real dart board! - no food it's how pubs were 30 years ago the landlady and locals were very friendly. Would strongly recommend Elton Old Hall for a big family party!

IslingtonA beautiful home from home.
Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We couldn't recommend Elton Old Hall highly enough. It was the little touches which really made it a home from home (the welcome sign on the chalk board with each of our names, the spare toothbrushes in the cupboard should anyone have forgotten one, the ice in the freezer (much needed to cool a glass of wine on our arrival, tea, coffee and sugar in the caddies, a pint of milk in the fridge), the handsoaps and bodywash in every bathroom). All these small touches made us feel so welcome, not as though we were staying in a rented house, but as though we had been welcomed into a beautiful home. The beds were unbelievably comfy, the rooms beautifully decorated, the kitchen extremely well equipped, everything impeccably spotless as though they'd never been used. There was wifi and a sound system which were easy to use. The fire was made, ready to light. All in all, I just couldn't fault Elton Old Hall. I'm writing this from the cupboard under the stairs as I never want to leave!!!

LincolnshireThe most beautiful country house in gorgeous surroundings.
Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in February 2011
This is the second time I have stayed at Elton Old Hall and I really cannot fault it. It is spacious and beautiful with all the charm and elegance of an ancient rambling house but all the cosiness, practicality and comfort of a cottage.
It is simply perfect for a large party particularly with children as the house is big enough to accommodate, as it did for us, two families in sumptuous comfort.. in fact we are 4 adults and 7 children and we were all able to "do our thing" without getting in eachother's way.
The garden is charming and well equipped both for children to play safely, and adults to enjoy the scenery and tranquility of the Derbyshire countryside.
The kitchen is as easy to cook in as my own, having every utensil, crockery, pan and tin imagineable (something so many holiday properties lack and I wouldn't want to be someone who always takes their trusty cheese grater on holiday with them..)
The beds are super comfy and in fact are responsible for the purchase of several "mattress toppers" for my own house, having experienced them at Elton Old Hall! It is this attention to detail and comfort that will ensure we return for a third trip and more.
Many happy memories were formed on both holidays and as I said to Mrs Harrop the owner, I often dream of Elton Old Hall.. I could live there happily.
A reasonably priced treat for large families or groups of friends.

Fantastic stay at Elton Old hall for my husbands 40th birthday. Despite freezing temperatures and the most snow seen in derbyshire since the 1980's, we had an absolute fabulous time. The house is gorgeous and the facilities are fantastic. The bedrooms were all lovely in different ways which meant there were no arguments from our guests about who stayed where and the lounge with the longest chesterfield sofa in the world was perfect for our 12 guests. I would highly recommend a walk to the Old Red Lion in Birchover for lunch, the food and the ales were amazing. We were ever so slightly house bound, but when you have a property like Elton Old Hall, that was certainly no hardship. Juliet and Martin were the perfect hosts and the whole process from booking to checking out couldn't have been easier. I would highly recommend Elton for any special occasion, it is in a class of it's own.

We booked a long weekend at Elton old Hall for a family get together to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and our 2nd daughter's 30th. We originally planned to go to Center Parks but decided on Elton Old Hall as we could all be accomodated under one roof, with the lure of the splendid kitchen! The Old Hall was splendid. We were all warm, comfortable and felt most welcome. The kitchen surpassed expectaions, being excellently equipped, a pleasure to cook in, wonderful for the whole extended family to eat together. (The herb garden was an added bonus). The living room, complete with wood burner, provided us with a great setting for our evening's murder mystery. The setting provided the adventurous with opportunities for walking and cycling, whilst the less energetic went to nearby Matlock and Bakewell. Our 2 young grandsons were very well catered for. All in all, a memorable weekend. We would heartily reccommend Elton Old Hall and are looking forward to making a return visit.

We stayed here as a party of 12 (3 families, 6 kids ages 4 and under ). The house was a very comfortable size for all of us. The house was very nicely furnished and we all found the beds to be very comfortable. The kitchen was very well-equipped, having everything we needed and more. The conservatory was very nice, as was the back garden, which had a little play area for the children.
There were many things to do in the area. Our favourites were Chatsworth and Tissington. The nearby soft play centre Little Monkeys was good for a rainy afternoon.
Martin and Juliet were very helpful and responsive. There were also some nice welcoming touches when we arrived. We would highly recommend Elton Old Hall to anyone. -

Probably the best self catering accommodation we've ever stayed in. It's not the cheapest place but if you're looking for a high quality place for a party or family gathering then you won't find better. We used it for a big family reunion with kids from 3yrs old to my Dad at age 79.
The house is in a great location with numerous great walks from the door including some rocks for scramblings.
The house itself is set in a very quiet village and is immaculately equipped. The kitchen had everything you'd ever need to cater for a big gathering. In particular it has a large dining table in the kitchen which can seat 14 which was just what we wanted. The house has plenty of bathrooms, a good selection of toys, games and videos and a nice enclosed garden for the kids to play in. One particular thing that's worth pointing out is the quality of the beds...I've stayted at so many places where the beds are rubbish and you end up leaving with a soreback. Every bed was great and like the one you'd have in your own house.
All round a great place to stay if you can afford it. -

Elton Old Hall was everything we could have hoped for. The house was so comfortable and well equipped for 14 adults aged 90 to 24. There was comfortable seating for 14 in the sitting room, dining kitchen and garden and seating for 10 in the lovely conservatory. The beds were very comfortable and the duvets and bedding was very luxurious. The kitchen was beautifully equipped with 2 kettles, washer, drier, and dishwasher and the glass wear, crockery and cutlery and bakewear were excellent for 14 and of very good quality. The garden was lovely and private with games for adults and children and Bbq's. It even had a trampoline, slide, Wendy House and crazy golf for children. We visited Matlock Bath and had cream tea in the Village Hall. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and when my sister left belongings in the bedroom they posted them back to her by return. I can't recommend this property too highly.

Bolton, LancashireExcellent House For a Sophisticated Hen Do!
Left on 09/06/2010 for a stay in June 2010
I booked Elton Old Hall for my sister's recent Hen Do, her only guide was a cottage in the Peak District for all her closest friends with activities and views galore.
Elton Old Hall was perfect, it held all 14 of us, was close to the main towns in the Peak District and close enough to Matlock that we could nip into town for essentials and far enough away that we felt we we're away from our usual hustle and bustle of major cities.
Our arrival set the stall for the rest of the weekend, with a complementry bottle of champagne on arrival, and all the guests names on the welcome board it was all very personal and the small touches make the best impact.
The bedrooms we're perfect in size, cleanliness, and above all comfort. The downstairs reception rooms we're huge, the kitchen holds a table for 14 with plenty of room to maneouvre around to make meals or have a cocktail party.
The garden was perfect for relaxing in when the sun does shine and rounded off with a perfect barbeque to complete an excellent Hen Do.
Although we used it for a Hen Do it is also perfect for Family get togethers.
The owners we're brilliant at communicating and when an unexpected change of plan (i.e one of the Hen's going into early labour the weekend before our visit, they came to my rescue by transferring all the correspondance to myself).

We were a group of 8 adults and 5 children under 3! We visited Elton Old Hall for our annual get together and it exceeded our expectations! It is a gorgeous old house with so much character. The interior is homely and stylish. We were so comfortable- the bedrooms especially. We all slept like logs (babies included!), the beds and pillows are amazing!
The kitchen is very well equipped especially as we were were with kids in tow. Lots of child friendly plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, nappy bags etc. Also great for adults, plenty of wine glasses, an array of kitchen utensils for budding chefs, an assortment of recipe books and a fantastic herb garden. The back garden was small but lovely- good for running about with little ones- slide, trampoline, little house. Our kids loved it.
The owners are also top notch. Very helpful (replaced a microwave especially for our visit) and understanding to our every need, right from our booking- 6 months before our stay.
Elton itself is a sleepy village, with an abundance of walks nearby- but no shop. Matlock Bath with it's lovely shops, or Chatsworth house are within a 20 min drive.
All in all, I would highly recommend Elton Old Hall for a gathering of old friend and kids. The house would suit all seasons- perfect for hot summer days- BBQ, sun trap out the back, conservatory and gorgeous little garden for enjoying a glass of wine or two whilst the kids run riot! Also perfect for cold winters- cosy fires, excellent selection of music and Dvds, sky TV, board games...warm and inviting. Enjoy! -

We stayed at Elton Old Hall for a 70th birthday weekend. 14 of us all up raniging from 4yrs to 72yrs. The house is beautiful and very elegantly decorated. The beds are heavenly and we all really enjoyed our stay. The only reason I have not given this 5 stars is because there is not a seperate dining room so it did feel a little tight all dining in the kitchen/diner but the kitchen is very large, well equipped and it was lovely to have us all sitting around the very large dining table. The surrounding area is beautiful and we would love to come back here again and would definitely return to Elton Old Hall.

Left on 09/03/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Elton Old Hall provided a lovely backdrop for a birthday weekend with a large group of friends. The spacious and well-appointed kitchen/dining-room enabled us to prepare and share a special dinner together easily. Having the big lounge with lots of sofa space made relaxing together easy too.
The bedrooms were lovely, comfortable and modern.
The location is also great - close to good walks and things to do. There is also a fab gastro-pub a short distance away.
The only real negative was a shortage of parking. The only place to leave cars was on the road and it was quite crowded.
Overall, a great place!Response from Juliet - 09/04/2010

We are delighted that Elton Old Hall was the perfect setting for your birthday celebration weekend.
Elton (Small Village of the Year 2007) is a conservation village within the Peak District National Park. The Hall has a single garage and a driveway with space for another vehicle. Fortunately there is also unrestricted parking in front of the Hall - and throughout the village which can be popular with tourists and walkers throughout the year - particularly on a Sunday.
